Some of you have probably followed me for years, others not so much. So here are 10 fun facts about me to help you get to know me a little better, fitness and health aside for one post :) 😁⁠⠀

1. I'm from Brighton in the UK and moved over here when I was 28 years old. It took me 6 years and a lot of $$$ but I am now an Australian Citizen and damn proud of myself for sticking it out (I hated my first year here and cried constantly) ⁠⠀

2. I always wanted to travel so did a Tourism Degree at uni and spent my twenties working as an air hostess for British Airways travelling the world in style ⁠⠀

3. I hate bananas and fish - I have never and will never eat them
⁠⠀
4. I've had my tongue pierced since I was 15, I forget I have it done most of the time but would feel so strange to take it out!⁠⠀

5. I have one sister who is two years older than me - we are very close but are worlds apart in our personalities (she's an accountant who refuses to go on social media, I hate numbers and am all over the socials!)⁠⠀

6. I hate fizzy drinks - don't understand them nor want to ⁠⠀
⁠⠀
7. I have a tattoo on the bottom of my foot, I got it done in Thailand with bamboo and my sister has the same tattoo down her spine ⁠⠀

8. I was vegetarian for 5 years and tried vegan for 3. I didn’t have my first steak until I was 32 years old ⁠⠀ 9. I have a duck walk with my feet turned out, it's the one thing that makes me really self conscious and I hate it⁠⠀

9. I am petrified of public speaking of any kind, hence why I've never done a workshop before. ⁠⠀

Are carbohydrates our enemy or our friend?

There are a lot of articles and people telling you to avoid carbs for weight loss. This can be in the form or cutting down carbs a little bit or by going ketogenic and becoming the the keto kid.

You may have heard that by cutting out carbs you’ll turn your body into a “fat burning machine” (mainly from the keto kids). This isn’t exactly true. It’s not body fat you burn in a ketogenic state, its triglycerides in the blood stream, likely from the excessive fat intake from foods.

Your body will ONLY burn body fat when you are in a CALORIE DEFICT.  When anyone loses body fat by cutting out carbohydrates it’s because they have created a calorie deficit. 
If you like your bread, pasta, fruits, grains, root vegetables, legumes, sweets, sauces, alcohol etc, then cutting out carbs isn’t for you. 
Get the fat loss from cutting down your calories and creating a calorie deficit while still enjoying the foods you normally like. 
Carbohydrates are our FRIEND! They are concerted to glycogen and stored in your muscles as an immediate source of fuel to power your body. Carbs/glycogen is the most efficient and effective fuel source we have. Your brain alone consumes 30% of all carbohydrates you consume.

This is a classic case of what I like to call... NERVES. Although yes the angles and lighting is a bit different the way I’m hitting the exact same pose is different. I think the key factor in why they are different is nerves. The photo on the left is from pre judging at nationals and the second is of the posing routine on the same day. During pre judging I was nervous as hell, I had never been on a stage so big, at such a big event, with such well prepared competition before, I let my mind get away from me and I think it definitely showed in this pose. Through out pre judging I definitely gained my composure but by finals I had regathered my self and definitely came on posed much more effectively. This was definitely a learning curve and one that could only be learned by experiencing it first hand. Competitors be prepared, practice your posing, and keep calm,  enjoy the moment because it will all be over before you know it.

Guten Morgen! Es ist Donnerstag und wir haben noch 3 Trainings bis zum nächsten Spieltag. 💪 Wir haben Die Zeit genutzt, um unsere Wunden vom letzten Spieltag zu lecken 😁, Spielauswertung gemacht und neue Ttainingsziele gesetzt. 
Nachdem wir am letzten Samstag das Spiel gegen RPB VII so gut wie gewonnen hatten und es 2:0 für uns stand (25:16, 25:14), haben wir tatsächlich noch 3:2 verloren. Erschöpft, aber motiviert sind wir in das zweite Spiel gegen TSV Rudow II gestartet. Es sollte darum gehen, wer einen der oberen Plätze für sich entscheiden kann. Rudow lag nur einen Platz hinter uns und machten es uns nicht leicht, unsere Führung weiter auszubauen. Es war nicht unser Tag: Gute Aufschläge waren kaum drin, Läufer 4 hat und Probleme gemacht und dennoch konnten wir das Spiel 3:2 für uns entscheiden. Die Freude und Erleichterung war groß. Da am Sonntag noch Spiele gegen die unteren Tabellenplätze offen waren, war für uns klar, es würde nur für den 5. Platz reichen. Doch wie ein Wunder, haben sie die Spiele verloren und wir fühlen uns sichtlich wohl auf dem 3. Platz. Wir ruhen uns allerdings nicht darauf aus, denn unser Ziel ist klar: Der 1. oder 2. Platz soll uns gehören. 
Wir wünschen euch einen schönen Donnerstag und drückt uns die Daumen, dass wir unser Ziel erreichen. 💫 Mondstein flieg und Sieg!

The belt squat is a great exercise for long legged lifter who find it difficult to hit the quads fully with traditional squat variations using the bar. It can allow them to squat more upright, push the knees further over the toes and deeper all of which will increase how hard the quads have to work. ⠀

An even if your built for well for the squat, the belt squat could still be a great accessory exercise for you as it takes the loading off the spine which means it generates less central fatigue per set meaning you could possible push quad volume high without frying yourself. ⠀

Are carbohydrates our enemy or our friend?

There are a lot of articles and people telling you to avoid carbs for weight loss. This can be in the form or cutting down carbs a little bit or by going ketogenic and becoming the the keto kid.

You may have heard that by cutting out carbs you’ll turn your body into a “fat burning machine” (mainly from the keto kids). This isn’t exactly true. It’s not body fat you burn in a ketogenic state, its triglycerides in the blood stream, likely from the excessive fat intake from foods.

Your body will ONLY burn body fat when you are in a CALORIE DEFICT.  When anyone loses body fat by cutting out carbohydrates it’s because they have created a calorie deficit. 
If you like your bread, pasta, fruits, grains, root vegetables, legumes, sweets, sauces, alcohol etc, then cutting out carbs isn’t for you. 
Get the fat loss from cutting down your calories and creating a calorie deficit while still enjoying the foods you normally like. 
Carbohydrates are our FRIEND! They are concerted to glycogen and stored in your muscles as an immediate source of fuel to power your body. Carbs/glycogen is the most efficient and effective fuel source we have. Your brain alone consumes 30% of all carbohydrates you consume.
