Got the last of my training in today at the beautifully well equipped @desert.barbell in the company of a bunch of amazing lifters. Stoked that more of Team Canada is here, and very happy to see more of my international friends. Feeling MUCH better after putting in some work today. Friday, Nov 22 at 6AM MST I’ll be taking the platform here in Dubai at @openworlds19 😮

Road to Recovery: 72 Days Post Op.

Leg is doing amazing. ROM is a few degrees away from the healthy leg. Can bike gently now. No strength work yet. Still working on stairs with both legs. Not there yet. .

The big issue is my bulged disc that has been extremely flared up because of the leg. I’ve been basically leaning on the disc and putting pressure on it, leaving me almost bed ridden. .
.
Have had a few good days this week though so managed to get back in the gym and hit some arms and traps. .
Still look like I have a little bit of size! Angles at least. Sporting my new @thepushpullco  toque. Love the tight fit. .

I decided to see how 275 felt, and ending up hitting it for a PR with depth. I haven't really been videoing, and keeping my mind clear of distractions in the gym. My BW is still ranging around 140s and starting to see some more definition. I'm happy that I'm maintaining strength. Also, a fun way to hit quads and hamstrings a different way after performing heavy singles in squats is sumo deadlifts with high reps. It's cool to see the actual results of programming I've only written on paper, and definitely been enjoying this time to experiment in the gym. I'm feeling 300 soon, and that'll be great to be hitting especially once I hit upper BW: 130s range.

I hope for nothing I fear nothing I am free.
In this fitness world you have to give it your all. You have to step foot in the gym everyday and expect to come out tired and sweating.  You have to pull your heart out your chest and show yourself how bad you want to met your goals. You got to understand there are going to be days when you workout that it just feels like you are weak and out of shape. But that is no one but the Devil on your back trying to pull you back closer to him. Never stay on that floor. Never give up. Always look up to the sky God never fails you. You just have to believe in him and have no fear.
There have been days where I just wasn't feeling it. Didn't feel strong, didn't feel like I was going to met my goals. I never gave up! I always go and do my workout to the best I can. The fact of it is you are still trying even when you don't want. That commitment.  Rest today  do some yoga or a light impact cardio workout. Get the blood pumping slightly. And don't forget to clear your mind. Have fun today.

Take the weights down to 115/80 or even 95/65. No matter what, the squats should come across as daunting. Not incredibly hard or so easy, you’re able to complete in chunks. Whatever weight you end up choosing, keep it the same for the cleans. .

As for HSPU, place you’re head on a single ab mat, if you have one, or, better yet, go with an empty or lightly loaded seated barbell press (from in front). .

When I was reminded of my biggest pet peeve, when gym goers don’t re-rack...
Isn’t that whack? 
It must be manners those types of peeps lack...
The worst is when I have to remove ten of someone’s 45 pound weights, I don’t wanna break my back...
But I try to remain calm, cool, collective and relax...
Cuz I don’t wanna have a stress induced heart attack...
After all, not everyone has the “thoughtfulness” gene so I try to cut them some slack!

Took some inspiration from @dougtheelephantslayer Grabbed me a refresher class since it’s been so long and wondering why I took so long. Damn good time. Feeling strong and that feels awesome. been slowly getting back into the groove of posting regularly again and i’m starting to feel like myself again ☺️ social media breaks are so necessary for me bc i’m prob the biggest introvert you’ll ever meet, but this break was different. y’all when i say i was not myself i mean I WAS NOT MYSELF. a year ago i switched to the implant for birth control and the past year has been hellish hoping that i’d eventually adjust to it. the last few months were the worst of it all. i dealt with a  l o t  of hormonal acne that i hadn’t experienced since i was a teen. i dealt with painfuuuuul & long periods when i never even had a single cramp before. i was argumentative and honestly fcking crazy. y’all i literally had to take at least 5 cry breaks a day and i didn’t even know what i was crying about. my mindset was always depressive, body dysmorphia ran rampant and made me hate my body and hate myself. i can’t even tell you how many days i’ve cried over how i looked. i feel silly now looking back at all the pictures i hated myself for BC I LOOKED HOT LMAO. and inexplicably i dealt with waves of suicidal thoughts. my life is good y’all. i’m surrounded by ppl that love me & root for my success. but in those moments my mind truly didn’t feel like my own. i had suicidal thoughts but i was not suicidal. what i experienced is so hard to explain when i don’t even know exactly where it came from myself, but ladies PLEASE be mindful of the hormones you’re putting into your body!!
i’m not completely comfortable with opening up this dialogue yet but whoever else that may be dealing with this, you’re not alone 💛
switched off from the implant last month and i’m finally  feeling like myself & HAPPY again even without anything necessarily going amazing in my life. y’all i feel like i got my life back. it’s been awhile but i’m excited for what’s next 😸

Got off work a little early so figured legs was the best option for the gym. Wednesday leg session went like this-
-Build to a heavy 6 rep box squat. First video is 460 lbs (I thought this was going to be my final set but 6 felt so easy I did another 2 reps). Second video is 490 lbs, which I barely 1 repped with an SSB bar on Saturday. . . .
-Build to a heavy 5 rep mid shin rack pull. Third video is 460 lbs. Fourth video is 490 lbs.
-5 sets of 8 hip thrusts at 425 lbs.
-3 super sets of 20 weighted tempo sissy squats, 20 banded leg curls, 50 banded knee outs, 15 banded ab crunches. . . . .

More lifting vids, shocking I know.  Went for some heavy cleans and a few jerks from the rack. Finished it off with front squats. Also, I don't just do doubles and singles all the time, its just that those are the ones I like to film (someone asked me about it). The reason behind that is because anyone can have good form when its light weight, but when you get heavier you see areas where you can improve your form. Jerk weights are 165 and 180, clean weight is 190, front squats are 185.
