I made this post for my mom, my dad, and the rest of my family and friends who need a sound training program and can commit to 2-3 training days a week. I figured the rest of you are in the same boat - you have friends and family who go to the gym but may not be performing a well-rounded program. You probably want to show them a simple template that ensures balance and comprehensiveness. ⁣⁣

I put together this simple template for anyone to follow. Pick a hip-dominant exercise, an upper body pull, a knee-dominant exercise, an upper body press, and a core exercise. Perform 2-3 sets of each in the 8-12 rep range and call it a day. Repeat this 2-3 days a week consistently and you’ll be golden. ⁣⁣

There are many other exercises that make up the various categories, but I only showed 3 of each. You can sprinkle in some single-joint work at the end of the workout if you’d like. ⁣⁣

Most people neglect certain movements and fail to train their entire body intelligently. Adhering to this system prevents that while allowing you to use your time in the gym wisely and focus on the big rocks. ⁣⁣

Don’t mistake this approach as something that’s only for beginners. It will also work very well for advanced lifters if you utilize the principle of progressive overload. ⁣⁣

The hollow hold is a staple core exercise used in Crossfit but this simple but incredible exercise is overlooked but most other gym goers. This or a scaled version should be in everyone’s exercise repertoire. 
Brace your abs and focus on driving your lower back into the floor for the entire hold. A good cue can be to pull your ribs down to fully engage your abs. If you can’t manage to keep your back in contact with the floor you need to scale the exercise back to tuck holds etc. Goal is basically to hold this as long as possible. As soon as you feel your abs switch off, your lower back lose contact with the floor or your back kick in the hold is done. .

5 am workout.  Before I drive down to Rural Ohio for another week of work.  It was a chill session compared to my more intense ones.  All bodyweight work.  Real talk: on the last round of today’s workout, as I was getting tired, I realized how important it is to go through challenges in life.  To be in situations where you feel struggle.  To put yourself in uncomfortable situations.  That is where you want to be in order to grow stronger.  Don’t quit.  Keep going in order to get to your final destination.  Today was all basic movements.  Keeping it simple.  10-15 reps of each movement.  After a set of upper body movements, I do a set of squats.  3 rounds.  Then walk for 10 minutes on an incline treadmill.  I went all out in LA.  My body is still recovering from the great week up there.  Questions to help, let me know.  Stay blessed people.

These are actionable steps in all areas of life if you want to seek development and learning beyond school, college and University. It’s something I’ve prioritised for almost 5 years in my career, but even longer than that in fitness which is my passion outside of work ✅
