In this study in young resistance trained men 🏋🏾‍♂️who regularly ate breakfast, skipping breakfast and then training lead to poorer performance in the gym. Over 4 sets, total squat and bench reps were significantly lower (15% lower on squat, 6% on bench) on the day they skipped breakfast as opposed to eating a breakfast containing 1.5 grams of carbohydrate per kg bodyweight. They trained 2 hours after the breakfast (or no breakfast).

It should come as no surprise that a higher carbohydrate breakfast fueled their workout. Early work by Greg Haff and others shows muscle glycogen (carbohydrate stored in muscle – your “reserve” tank of fuel) can drop around 40% after a single lifting session. I summarized this research in the 4th edition of NSCA’s the Essentials of Strength and Conditioning.

I don’t know why, but 16 years ago, I called K11 an Academy... But from a decade ago at least, it sort of rankled and didn’t quite define what K11 had evolved into.

I have been a Competitive Bodybuilder, a Personal Trainer and these things still live on in me... But lately if someone asks me the following questions...in a flash, I reply with complete certainty that comes from finally identifying and knowing who you are - 
What do you do for a living? 
What is your profession?
I Teach, I am a Teacher by profession.

What do you Teach?
I teach Bio-Mechanics of Lifting and Performance Nutrition. 
Where do you teach?
I have my own School of Fitness Sciences #k11schooloffitnesssciences 
So you own the school?
I am the Principal of my School and I teach at my school as well.

K11 now has been renamed aptly and more accurately as The K11 SCHOOL OF FITNESS SCIENCES.

The rebranding will happen in across all communications, phase wise over a period of 6-Months, as it is a mammoth task.

I thought it was only something that mattered to me personally. But what came as an incredibly pleasant surprise was the enthusiasm with which our students have embraced this small change in our branding. It felt like they always considered it their school and now that we officially made it a School on our branding, they whole heartedly and proudly embraced it. 
Even my 183 strong K11 Family, immediately took to this change instantaneously, like it was always meant to be.

5 Movements You Need to be Doing by @BreakingNinetyFitness

There are five movements that any training program needs to incorporate. There are some exceptions for injuries and specific sports, but for the most part, none of these movements should be neglected. These are all compound movements, meaning they target several body parts at the same time. A good idea is to use these compound movements as your first big lift in your training day

Each of these movements target many different muscle groups and have several variations, I will mention a few of each.

Haven't posted in a while. Here's a variation rep pr. Ssb squat at 165 for 8. It was an amrap and it looks like I could've gotten 1-2 more but I was gassed. 
Haven't been recording myself for a while. Don't want to see myself lift. Or see myself at all lately. 
Always feel pretty compromised with the ssb so I thought I should take a look. It's not as bad as I thought. Ok I guess. Kinda funny listening to @hurricane_danny cue me super fast lol. Also almost fell at the end ha.

My entire short but productive snatch session, worked on speed and consistency. The complex was Snatch Pull + Snatch. Clips 1 & 2 are warm-ups with the bar with some snatch balance and snatch. Clip 3 is a snatch pull + snatch at 65lbs x 2. Clip 4 is 75lbs x 2. Clip 5 is 85lbs immediately followed by 95lbs. And clip 6 is 105lbs immediately followed by 115lbs. Felt pretty darn weightless which is great; and was generally happy with my positioning 😉😊 #snatchbalance #snatchpull #snatch #hybridperformancemethod

Continuing on with the Reps week format, I chose this doozy for my Monday Madness!! 16 exercises - 10reps each move, 5 times through. Of course in no other style but Lisa’s style, we joined the last 2 rounds together, to smash out reps of 20!!! Finished with the 16th move - goblet squats - 50reps!! Safe to say Monday was smashed!! Bar 56kgs (123lb)
Pink dumbbells - 11kgs (26lb)
Snatches - 16kgs (36lb)
Black dumbbells - 9kgs (20lb)
