Compound lifts are those which involve more than one joint. Whereas, isolation movements only work on one joint. For example, a bench press is a compound movement as both the shoulder and elbow joint move, whereas a bicep curl is an isolation exercise, due to just the elbow joint moving.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The main benefits with these movements are that a) they target more than one muscle group and b) they can be loaded quite heavily.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

For example, a bench press is probably the heaviest exercise for loading your triceps, even though they aren’t getting worked directly. On top of that, you are getting a good bit of activation from your front delts, with the emphasis being on your pecs.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When it comes to choosing the right workout split, it ultimately comes down to what works best for YOU. This means, 🔹what coincides with your schedule, 🔹What your current experience in the gym is,⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔹And how you’re able to recover from your workouts.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
_⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have found that a 4-day split is ideal for me. Often times guys think: more days in the gym = more gains. This is not necessarily the case. You see, it’s not about how hard you go in the gym, it’s about how well you recover. If you’re not taking your recovery seriously, you are limiting your muscle building potential.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
_⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With this 4-day split, you will begin the week training for strength. Meaning, you are aiming to get stronger with your big compound lifts (1-5 rep range).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Later in the week, you will bump those reps up to an 6-12 rep range, where you will be lifting slightly less weight than you were on your strength days.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This allows you to get stronger every week, while also stimulating muscle growth at an accelerated rate.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Start with a variation of one of these lifts as your staple movement.Focus on it for your first 30-45 mins of lifting! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you want to build muscle, first of all you need o stimulate the #protein synthesis process. That is done while working out. Than #proteins are needed so the damaged #muscles from the workout will he repaired. A slight #calorie surplus is also recommended. 
If you think about it logically, if the muscles contain mostly proteins (after water), than you have to eat proteins so the muscle can grow (because it is built from proteins). If you have expectation of your muscle to be in their full potential, than feed them properly, don’t be selfish.

I was actually massively into athletics as a child, competed for Watford all through my teens but it was probably more my dads dream than mine
.
.
I found alcohol, going out, Saturday job + let things slide probably around the time my PCOS kicked in so it was a slippery slope .
.
I turned to so many fad diets in my early 20’s with little to no success then went straight back to the lifestyle I had before which had me back to square one .
.
While I was pregnant with our 3rd I thought right this is it, once I’ve had this baby I’m ALL IN! I signed up to a new exercise class paid from January to April so prayed I would like it + armed with a 10 week old baby I started the child friendly classes .
.
On my first class they asked if Harley was my first, no my third I said + the answer was the toilets over there 🙊 but in nearly 3 years I’ve missed 5/6 weeks through holiday etc
.
.
But what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger including pelvic floor muscles so girls if you forget those exercises just get on a trampoline!!! But honestly I’m hooked, it’s the highlight of my week + the most enjoyable exercise class ever
.
.
When I returned to work after maternity I switched to an evening class + even though I now work my own hours I have kept this class as I find its time for ME! I left the corporate 9-5 to be around my girls more but I am still human + getting to leave the house with no changing bag + sweat a bad day out is healing in so many ways .
.
I love that our classes are so diverse with ladies 10 years younger + 20 years older (sometimes even a man!), I hope I’m still that active in my 50/60’s! .
.
Make it a goal to find something, anything that you enjoy + get moving 👏🏻

Somehow, we think that going harder in the beginning will get us to where we want faster.  Nothing is farther from the truth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Imagine you’re learning how to play the guitar.  Do you go hard as fuck on that thing, hoping that you become Jimi Hendrix in 90 days?  Hell no!  You may enjoy just strumming a couple chords and PRACTICE.  Then with more PRACTICE and fun jam sessions, you get better at playing.  The PRACTICE is fun!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Yesterday, I fell off the wagon! Getting back on! Tsk tsk not enough water, no salad at lunch chose the chimichanga, then I ordered Uber Eats, and didn’t exercise cause I was itchy...hey here’s a taste test. My co-worker gave me this protein shake it’s peach...mmm it’s good for a pre-made shake.

Just another awesome menstrual cycle side effect I guess. 🙄 So, I’m making sure that I am getting enough protein in my diet so I don’t sit down and eat a whole bag of chips. I love this protein shake that my husband makes me with @pbfit.official powdered peanut butter. It hits the period cravings spot perfectly! Here’s the recipe:
- 1 cup @oatsome.official Oat Milk or Whole Milk
- 1/4 cup frozen strawberries - 1/4 cup frozen raspberries - 1 tablespoon PB Fit Chocolate Powder
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder

Protein is a molecule that is made up of a wide variety of amino acids. Some of these amino acids are the building blocks of muscle proteins. Some of those “building blocks” must be obtained through food—these are known as essential amino acids.

Different foods consist of different combinations of 20 different amino acids, and some combinations are more potent than others. Nine of the 20 are considered essential because our body does not produce them naturally, therefore we must consume them. Out of those nine, three are considered branched chain amino acids (BCAA). Out of those three, one is the most powerful and important nutrient for building muscle: leucine—an essential amino acid that plays a key role in initiating protein synthesis.

This is why I highly recommend that a good deal of your protein consumption come from foods with a high leucine content (as see in the High Protein section of this post). This is not to say that you should opt only for the High Protein sources—in fact, if you’re getting enough protein in the day you’re not likely to be deficient in any of the nine essential amino acids—but it’s certainly something to consider if your goal is to maximize muscle growth.

Although these foods do contain leucine in higher amounts, this essential amino acid is present in most of the other protein sources that we consume regularly.

If you want to ensure that you’re maximizing muscle growth, I’d advise two things: First, and most importantly, get enough protein. Second, aim to get about 20-30 grams of protein per sitting—this will ensure that you’re getting enough leucine to maximize the anabolic response.
