Today I crushed some legs but was in a rushhh so couldn’t film ☹️ but that’s okie.

My dumb self was eating one of those protein/fibre cookies (I’ve posted on my story before) for the past two days and completely forgot that they’re not gluten free 🤦🏼‍♀️ My joints are sore man, really hits me hard. I mainly get stiffness in my low back and hips, my two areas that I’ve always had issues with. Other than that I am feeling GOOD 🙏🏼🤪

Ja manchmal verliert man sich im Alltag, in Alltagsproblemen oder Alltagstrott. Manchmal ist man auch sauer oder enttäuscht wegen Dingen , Aussagen oder Handlungen anderer. Und das zeigt einem die Realität mal wieder was wirkich wichtig ist.🤷🏻‍♀️

Heute war ich im Fitnessstudio und habe PT gegeben und trainiert. War in meinen Alltagsstress vertieft und meine Gedanken widmete ich Dingen, die mich nachdenklich, traurig oder sauer gemacht haben. Meine Gedanken widmete ich auch meinen Plänen die nächsten Tage und Wochen bezüglich Arbeit, Sport und Reisen. Bis mir ein Mann auffiel, den ganz andere Dinge beschäftigen. Was denkt ihr, dass es war?

Es war seine Gesundheit. Sein Kampf zurück ins Leben. Der Mann hatte einen schweren Schicksalsschlag, einen schweren Unfall. Er war nicht wie wir damit im Studio beschäftigt sich die Form seines Lebens anzutrainieren. Nein, er war damit beschäftigt, aus seinem Rollstuhl heraus wieder laufen zu lernen. Schritt für Schritt. Stufe für Stufe.

Ja es hat mich an meinen Unfall damals erinnert. An meine Folgeschäden, die ich jahrelang bis Oktober 2018 mitgeschleift habe und auch musste. Und schon wurde mir der Kopf gewaschen. Ich muss aufhören mich über Sachen zu ärgern oder runterziehen zu lassen. Ich muss stolz und froh sein wieder gesund hier stehen zu können. Alles andere ist GAR NICHTS wert. Keine Diskussionen, keine schlechte Laune.

Devastated. Bit into my apple and it’s gone off 🤢 tasted rank as I was chewing and then I looked and saw the core was all brown. Took another bite in a different place but it was the same 🤢🤢🤢 getting so pissed off with the Aldi that I go to on the way home from work. They don’t seem to store their fruit and veg properly because they are almost ALWAYS gone off and I always choose ones with a long expiration date on just incase. The amount of times I’ve had to go through boxes of fruit still in the shop because every one I pick up is mouldy. Absolutely disgusting

One. Year. —

In one word—consistency. —

Consistently in the gym (more than 400 times. 2-a-days for awhile)
Consistently eating things to fuel my body, not junk. (Yes occasionally I chilled out)
Consistently drinking water. (Aim for a gallon or more)
And about half way through the year I found QUALITY supplements. (But they don’t work if the list above isn’t on point) —

I’m happier, healthier, and more fulfilled. 
I have better relationships with my friends, I’m reading and learning constantly and I’m helping people more than I help myself and loving it. —

I’ve learned that saying things out loud like, “I got you dude. Don’t worry about this. We will get through it.” Has helped me tremendously when the chips are down. 
When I’m down I bounce back much quicker. 
I don’t seem to be intimidated by anything. 
I’m way more confident in my clothing and in my overall appearance. With good food and constant water I’m getting less headaches and my injury flare-ups are less frequent as well as less intense. 
I seem to be sleeping better too. —

My point is this, all of these things seemed out of reach for me. And I was never “really” out of shape. But for a long time I did what was necessary and that means going to the gym at 3-4 in the morning so no one sees that idk what I’m doing. That meant cancelling plans to read and drink water. That means writing down a plan and a goal and sticking to what is conducive to that plan and goal. —

I’m not any better than you, I just want it more. —

So many times, I hear clients say that they miss not being able to have a “treat” whilst on plan.  More often than not, when they say this, they are usually referring to food (more specifically, unhealthy, fatty foods) or alcohol. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t guilty of this occasionally too!

However, these are the things that have usually made us feel rubbish in the first place and are the reason we are on a diet! 
When we eat unhealthy, fatty foods and drink alcohol, aren’t these the very things that can make us feel... fat...? Bloated...? Unhealthy...? Tired...? Sluggish...? So if we feel this way when we have a “treat”..... then what actually makes them a treat?

So many times, I hear clients say that they miss not being able to have a “treat” whilst on plan. More often than not, when they say this, they are usually referring to food (more specifically, unhealthy, fatty foods) or alcohol. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t guilty of this occasionally too!

However, these are the things that have usually made us feel rubbish in the first place and are the reason we are on a diet!
When we eat unhealthy, fatty foods and drink alcohol, aren’t these the very things that can make us feel... fat...? Bloated...? Unhealthy...? Tired...? Sluggish...? So if we feel this way when we have a “treat”..... then what actually makes them a treat?

I won’t lie, the fact that I’m cutting plays on my mind as to whether I can exceed my current total. A lot of people have questioned it. But what I do know, is I’m not just physically strong but mentally strong.

Your body doesn’t know the weight on the bar. Your mind does.

This is one of the reasons I love powerlifting. I love pushing myself. I love hard friggen work. I love beating the odds. I love doing things that I didn’t know if I could, but believed I could and do it anyway.

So the past few weeks before I moved into my new place I was REALLY out of my routine.. no motivation to go to the gym & just not on track. This was simply because life got overwhelming & I couldn’t handle it so the gym/fitness took a back seat☹️

5 TIPS TO HELP YOU ACHIEVE THE BODY TRANSFORMATION YOU DESIRE

1. Start by setting realistic goals both short and long term. For example, you may have a target weight that you are wanting to achieve. Remember that it takes time to put on weight so equally, it takes time to lose weight/fat. Setting small short term targets along the way is a good way of managing expectations on the way to hopefully achieving that long term goal.

2. Inevitably, if we are setting out on a fitness journey to change the way we look, feel or to aid recovery from injury, we are going to have to make changes from the way we have previously lived. This could be through being more active, eating more or fewer calories (depending on your goal), changing the way you train or making changes to your lifestyle. Either way, embrace the changes and be consistent with it.

3. Monitoring your progress along the way is firstly a great way to see if the changes you have made are currently working. It allows you make further changes where necessary, know where you started and celebrate any wins along the way.
Monitoring options could be progress pictures, body measurements, clothes fittings, strength (whether you are lifting more), getting body fat measured or measuring weight.

4. Too many of us blame others for our failings. The fact of the matter is, someone can provide you with the perfect nutrition plans, training plans and be a great support but it doesn’t guarantee results. Ultimately you have to want to make it happen. You need to put the work in, be accountable and make smart choices along the way.

5. Inevitably on this fitness journey, there are going to be highs and lows. There are going to be times when you want to give up. I’m so lucky that she is very food oriented so she has no issue throwing @castlehorsefeeds condition nuts and Mollychaff showshine feeds down twice a day! This is all balanced out with @hiltonherbs_uk Hoof and Health and Comfort Gut to aid in digestion. Still a long way to go but a pleasing start! 🐎🐎 .

Here's a mantra I repeat to my clients until they're blue in the face

'Focus on one thing at a time, master it and then move on to the next thing'

This is true of weekly habits and it's true of overall direction

Direction is where you're going, it could be endurance, health markers, strength, fat loss (the list goes on)

If you're starting from scratch, there's a good chance all those metrics will improve once you start to make changes, but I still want you to pick ONE to use as your main indicator of success

So you have to pick one, but which one comes first?

Unless you're already in great nick - how we define that depends on the person - then you're going to get most benefit from starting with fat loss

Want to run a marathon? Less deadweight will make that easier
-
Want to do pull ups? Same again
-
Want to build muscles? (mirror ones or stabiliser muscles) well, excess body fat inhibits your muscles ability to repair and recover, so....

Basically, excess body fat makes everything harder

Moderate portions, pick less processed food, maintain a moderate level of activity and strength train
