The calm before the storm

Yesterday was a big day. It was time to get back into lifting. I felt rusty, and it was hard. The weights were light, but they felt like death. My bar path wasn’t great, but I’m just so happy to be back, I won’t let it get me down. Watch out 2020! Here I come, and I can promise it will be my strongest year yet. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

No, seriously, how much water have you had today? Likely not enough considering that approximately 3 out of 4 people are chronically dehydrated.

The first step is grabbing that water bottle to make sure you’re drinking enough. Rule of thumb: Aim to drink half your body weight in ounces of water each day. If you are a 180 pound person, this means your goal would be at least 90 ounces each day. I aim to drink at least one gallon every day.

I get it, water can be hard to drink! So today I’m sharing my top tips for how to drink water when you don’t like the taste. Cheers!

1️⃣ Set a goal! I aim to have one of my @hydrojugs gone by the time I have my lunch. I know if I have one gone by lunch I will have no problem hitting my hydration goals for the day. This is a tough one for me on the weekends.
.
2️⃣ Find your temperature. I don’t like my water to be overly cold because it makes me cold and sometimes hurts my teeth. Keeping your water at room temperature might make it easier to drink, and has been proven to keep you feeling fuller longer. Experiment BOTH ways (hot and cold) to find what works best for you!

3️⃣ Mix it up! Plain old water can get boring! If water doesn’t suit your taste buds try adding fruits to spruce it up and if still doesn’t do the trick, pick up some powdered, no- or low-calorie water flavorings at the grocery store and give them a whirl.

Not only is it vital to your transformation, it is vital to your overall health. And it’s a simple promise to keep to yourself: Drink more. Feel better.

Take your Lil Sis to work day 🙃 I have a perpetually sore knee due to a missing meniscus, so I decided to take the Iron Pillow aka Lil Sis to work to work on that leg. I had the awesome opportunity to meet the one and only @johncrudolf of @bodytemperingusa when I was at a #bodytempering certification recently by @thompsonbowtie held @compoundpr The science that he put into the design of this beautiful and functional piece of art blew me away! John described all of the measurements he did on the human body of different joints and dimensions of muscles to determine the size, diameter, and distance between points. ANYTHING YOU CAN DO. I CAN DO BLEEDING‼️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Excuse my face. 
My “first day of my period” was the heaviest I’ve had in years. And I felt ill during the entire lifting sesh. It was a bad lifting day. 
To top it off. Nothing was holding my blood and I felt like I could barely move my legs. Literally bled through my pants🤦🏿‍♀️ And then it felt like someone was just stabbing “Miss V” the entire time. But I’m proud I finished ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had to literally take a hot shower and go right to bed after. Because the pain and my mood was everywhere. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So I suppose the moral of the story is: sleep your problems away ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #periodssuck #womenhealth #powerlifting #bodybuilder #bodybuilding
