Why do you need more sleep (around 10 hours for an athlete)?
😴 Decreased injury risk. Athletes who sleep < 8 hours per night had a 1.7x greater injury risk in one study.
😴 Better recovery – growth hormone is released during deep sleep. Growth hormone is necessary for muscle tissue recovery.
😴 Improved decision making, faster reaction time and improved alertness and memory
😴 If you are a basketball player, see above – it can help your FG% and speed on the court.
😴 Studies show those who get little sleep tend to have higher amounts of body fat.

Rhodiola sacra is the directing herb of the Wild Yogi’s Tonic. It is a species of Rhodiola that is native to Tibet and has been revered as a superlative medicine for many centuries. These are the things I hear over and over again from moms and dance teachers. These are the things I hear from clients when we first start working together. These are the things I felt and so deeply struggled with as a teenage competitive dancer.⁠

One of my favorite things about chatting with new moms, teachers, and clients is providing them the space to share these things, to help them feel heard, for them to know they aren't the only ones, and to offer my help.⁠

⁣📝FRA revealed bilaterally limited passive hip internal and external rotation. FR soft tissue assessment revealed neurological tension and capsular restriction, bilateral. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣👊Here is a sneak peak of 1 rep of “fighting Irish” Level 3 PAILs and RAILs for hip external rotation.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣🧬The FRA not only told us “WHAT” to train, but “HOW” to train it. Robert did not posses the prerequisites to effectively perform the task (isolate hip external rotation) from other base positions. The standing base position allowed him to access the target tissue with the most specificity and drive long-term changes in the outcome measure identified in the #FunctionalRangeAssessment ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Caffeine is available in varying quantities in things like coffee, tea, kombucha, soft drinks, energy drinks, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, over the counter medications etc. Is it good for you? whats it used for? Well, like most things, caffeine is fine in moderation. Caffeine is a stimulant that speeds up the central nervous system. It stimulates the brain, elevates the mood and postpones fatigue. In a practical setting, several meta-analyses has been conducted showing the positive correlation between caffeine intake and sports performance both in resistance-based training and endurance exercise. consuming as little as 3mg per kg body weight (250mg for a 90kg subject) to as much as 7mg per kg body weight (630mg for a 90kg subject) has been proven to provide substantial benefit to both resistance-based exercises as well as endurance-based exercise. Consuming up to 400mg of caffeine is safe for the average healthy adult, however, caffeine much like most other substances is addictive and must be consumed in moderation. While there is ample evidence to support the use of Caffeine as a performance-enhancing substance, be weary that addiction is serious and caffeine intake should be monitored.

We had a patient with the following complaints:
1. A change and swelling around his right nipple which was hard and painful
2. Complete lack of energy
3. No morphological changes after use of AAS
4. Worsening of the above symptoms over the last few months
__ 
This is his Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) cycle (weekly doses) that damaged him:
Testosterone Enanthate 100 mg and Boldenone or Equipose 250 mg for 8 weeks
Brief hiatus because of the symptoms for 3-4 weeks with no Post Cycle Therapy
Trenbolone Hexa 200 mg and Testosterone Cypionate 100 mg for 9 weeks
Switched over to Testosterone Propionate 300 mg and Winstrol 200 mg for 2 weeks

Clinical Examination: The right breast had a coin sized nodular swelling altering the shape of the nipple. In the picture on the right shows the right nipple is lower than the left.
__ 
Lab studies confirmed Gynecomastia Grade 2a due to excess aromatization, Anabolic Steroid Induced Hypogonadism (ASIH), Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) most likely due to sub-standard quality of AAS.
__ 
Gynecomastia and Anabolic Recovery Steps:
__ 
1. Medicines: we used aromatize inhibitors like Clomiphene Citrate and Tamoxifen along with HCG which is an ideal combination for PCT.
__ 
2. Training: we prescribed a vanilla straight forward moderate frequency training routine with an emphasis on cardiovascular output and full range of motion movements with an emphasis on isolation exercises to preserve whatever little muscle growth that had occurred, improve joint health and kick start natural testosterone production.
__ 
3. Nutrition and Diet: we like to reset the body to a “base line” with use of lean meats and complex carbs like rice, sweet potatoes and regular white potatoes. We eliminate excessively processed elements such as refined flour, oats, wheat, etc. Complex carbs help boost muscle glycogen levels that have cosmetic benefits because in Anabolic Recovery there is an inevitable crash of testosterone levels (a “bottoming out”) before the body restarts its own production.

One month later and the patient is free of Gynecomastia, Anabolic Recovery is progressing as planned and his body is more muscular.

My main objective is to get you from point A to point Z while making sure that we address a few things in between.

With that being said, some people may not have concrete quantitative fitness goals and may just be looking for a “spark” in their routines.
However, I believe that a “spark” should have a relatable transference to ones life and have some measurables along the way.

My guy @yono28 has been training with myself and taking classes with the rest of the team over at #RiseByWe for a while. 
He’s a bad ass lawyer and has a background in fencing. 
Jons approach to fitness is simple. He wants to be strong AF, nimble AF, fit enough to keep up with his family and also have some fun with the process.
Since training Jon, we’ve put up some NUMBERS on his big lifts, built a solid overall base level of fitness and we’re now building on his fencing skill set. 
There’s no time table to our work together, but we continue to work in a manner that makes programming sense (to me), and makes him feel like Superdad!

Athletes will come in hurt or get hurt. This is part of the reality of high level sports. Part of working in this field is helping athletes get back to game readiness by rehabbing a condition and/or maintaining or improving certain aspects of their skill set. Big credit to @willy3man & @jamesobeelloyd who are always on task about getting work in. 👊🏽

Thankfully, I got a great crew that makes up our sports medicine team (Geek Squad 💯) that do a great job of managing the different aspects of athletic development. All I was doing here is making sure these guys are keeping their workload consistent with the rest of the group. It is possible for us to schedule in similar work for guys who are momentarily sidelined due to our performance matrix that guides the type of activity we are doing each day.

Core stability, lower body work with the #TRX, upper body bodyweight work, and some good old abductor emphasis with some #loopbands. Following our S&C standards of "No Excuses!" & "Work Smart!" in order to get through this time. To finish...in the words of my guy @jaylaylane, "Stay ready ain't gotta get ready!" See you tomorrow, buddy! 😤💯

Well...yes and no.
Just by adjusting your electrolytes (ie. Salt) the reading is going to be drastically different.
Not saying cheat, just saying get your electrolytes in.
