Oopsie ... We got a little problem.  I gained a few pounds.  Doc had me on some meds and I put on  8lbs. The scale really doesn't matter to me. I'm 5'8" and a little weight don't scare me! However I compete in 148 class... I usually sit about 150 so I don't cut much before weigh ins... 10 days - 10 pounds to lose. Everyone knows you cannot outwork a bad diet, it’s impossible! ⁣⁣

But what most don’t know is how much they actually eat on a regular basis.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
If you are new to this lifestyle, on a fitness journey or hit a plateau, I highly recommend you track your food. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Now stop 🛑 before you freak out and zone me out!  By no means am I saying you always have to keep track of everything you are eating, BUT for a few days keep a log. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
There are a lot of different apps to choose from, my go to is @myfitnesspal or go old school and write everything down on pen and paper. 📝  Track your food for a few days.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You may surprise yourself and be under eating, or you may surprise yourself and you are eating a lot more than you expected! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Either way I guarantee it will be eye opening! ⁣

I found it and it stirred up a lot of memories I thought I would share.⁣⁣

This video is almost five years old.  I was prepping for my first bodybuilding competition, it was the first time I saw muscles appear in my back. 💪🏻 I was so excited. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
At that time I was working at a private law firm.  I was supposed to be in my office prepping for a big deposition but I opted to take the risk and sneak out and go to the gym instead. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Law firm life and gym life never mixed well, I got back to the office from the gym to a not so happy boss and a slight threat of what would happen if I bombed the deposition because I was too busy "lifting things." ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I needed that gym session, it was my therapy, it was my time to regroup my thoughts, it was so much more than it appeared to the outside world looking in. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I learned years ago to not care what others think, not everyone will have the same values as you, and not everyone will agree with the choices you make, at the end of the day you have to do what's best for you.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Sidenote: I did so well at that deposition my boss never commented on my gym time again. ⁣

It’s something you hear often but what does it mean? ⁣⁣⁣

It means to take some time out of your day and take care of yourself! Whether that be treating yourself to a massage, manicure, cup of coffee (Yes, Susan get your Starbucks), a workout! ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
And yes, it does mean you have to spend some money! But it’s ok, because just like you justified spending money on that new iPhone, sneakers, happy hour with friends, you can justify spending money on investing in your self care and health.⁣⁣⁣

I recently invested in a treadmill for home, why did I do it because my weird work hours and sleep patterns were effecting my workouts.  Instead of doing what most people do, I took a leap and made an investment. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Best decision I made, I haven’t missed my steps one day since I got the treadmill, and even the days I feel like crap, I still get my steps in and feel  much better!  And I can’t use the excuse of it’s cold, snowing, raining, because I have a place indoors, with no wait or time limit, and no dress code 😉⁣⁣⁣

So next time you want to say, I don’t have the money, think long and hard, aren’t you worth the investment?

Keepin it short today and shootin ya with today’s leg workout! Legs have always been a weak point for me but the last few leg sessions have been like no other🙌🏼

Squat- 3x8- increase weight-3x5

Hack squat IT band variation- 5x10

Calf raises- 5x20

Leg extensions- 5x20

Normally I hop around to a lot of different movements during my workouts💪🏼 but today I decided to really focus on loading a high volume on each body part!!🥵
