Haven’t posted very much lately, but it’s been kinda nice not to stress about content and social media for a few days ☺️ skipped the gym, didn’t count macros or calories or portions, and had a chill Thanksgiving with family yesterday 🦃 We got right back on it today, though, because we have work to do 💪🏻 .

Did want to make a post about what I’m grateful for- I’m always very reflective around this time of year, I have more at this point in my life than I ever dreamt possible just a few years ago. Don’t get me wrong, there’s always something to be thankful for no matter your circumstances, and it isn’t all about material possessions or money, but I don’t ever want to forget how little I had at one point because I never want to take for granted the blessings I have now ❤️

I’m grateful for my salvation and relationship with the Lord, first and foremost. No matter how much I screw up or think I know what’s best for my life, He’s always there for me I’m grateful for the unconditional love and support of my husband @mark.waits , who never ceases to be my biggest cheerleader in life no matter what crazy ambitions I throw at him. I’m grateful for my car, because even though it may not be anything special, i didn’t even have one when I left home at 17. I’m grateful for a warm, cozy apartment, because I had nowhere to go but a dorm room not that long ago. I’m grateful for financial stability, because when I dropped out of college and had no savings and was working 40+ hours a week in fast food, I was living paycheck to paycheck with no prospect of that changing. I’m grateful for the clothes in my closet, more than I could ever need, because I used to be so broke I couldn’t afford more than one pair of jeans. I’m grateful for good health and the ability to train, for real friends like @ducoteallison and @allison_mogul and @drewbeglau11 and @zachunley, for the opportunity to start my own business, for the privilege of helping others achieve their health and fitness goals as a career, and I’m thankful for all of you ❤️ thank you for following along with my journey on here. .

Looking thiccccccc on the left 😂 that was back in mid to late 2017 around 86kg/189lb wasn’t lifting weights and definitely wasn’t eating well, just ate everything in sight by the looks, and on the right I’m weighing 69kg/151lb and lifting weights 7 days a week and tracking every calorie I consume getting my protein, fat and carbohydrates on point every single day, some people may not be into that lifestyle but each to their own. A lot of people think that I’m naturally muscular, that I’m naturally filled out and built this way… but as you can see in the left picture (especially in my face) that the body I currently have really did NOT come easy for me. I wasn’t ridiculously skinny, I still had some muscle, but I definitely didn’t have the muscle and physique that I have now.

For any woman or man who feels insecure or lacks confidence because they feel ‘too small’, I want you to know that it IS possible to get the body that you want no matter what your genetics might say.

It’s not going to be easy, it took me 6 years to get here, but it is possible and it’s ONLY possible if you start. Even if you barely know what you’re doing, starting somewhere is better than doing NOTHING at all.

Getting the body I wanted seriously felt impossible at the time, like I would NEVER get there - so if you relate to this at all know that I completely understand how you feel. BUT I also want you to know that the discouraging and negative voice in my head didn’t stop me, I didn’t let it. I did NOT give up on my goals because I knew what I wanted and I made sure that I was going to do whatever it took to get there. 
I was consistent with lifting, I was consistent with my nutrition, and more importantly, I had SO much support along the way from my incredible friends & family which I am SO grateful for.

So if you feel too small, too thin, like you’ll never get to your goal, like you have no idea where to start and you’re too discouraged to even start your fitness journey, I’m telling you right now - YOU CAN DO THIS. IT IS POSSIBLE. YOU JUST HAVE TO START.

👈🏻On the left I was about 8 weeks into my first bikini prep. <1400 cal a day, 1 hr of LISS cardio post workout 7 days a week, 1 refeed/week. My weight was about 120 lbs, body fat was around 19% & my lean muscle mass was approx. 99.3 lbs. .
.
👉🏻On the right, I have just finished a mini cut to get closer to my estimated stage weight for my show next year. I’ve been eating >1500 cal/day with a cheat meal every week, and only 15 min of post workout HIIT cardio. I am about the same weight as the left picture, body fat percentage is around 17% something and lean mass is 105 lbs. .

So, what have I managed a accomplished in a year of very structured nutrition, workouts, and discipline? And what is the takeaway? 🤔

🔹 Weight isn’t everything. I weigh the exact same on the right as on the left, yet my body fat is lower and my muscle is higher. Stop relying solely on the scale to determine your level of progress. .
.
🔹 Building muscle takes a REALLY. LONG. TIME. Stop thinking you’ll gain a lot of lean mass in 3 months. Heck, even 6 isn’t that much. I spent a YEAR building and doing almost everything right, and I managed to gain 6 lbs of muscle.
.
.
🔹 Sometimes more cardio and less calories ISN’T the answer. Everyone is different and everyone responds differently to different training protocols. There IS such a thing as not enough food and too much exercise. Again, everyone is different and sometimes it takes trial and error. .
.
🔹 Consistency is KEY. I didn’t gain the muscle and lose the fat I did the past 10 months by only sorta committing to my goal. I was all in. That’s approximately 300 days, 200 workouts, 40 weeks of prepping my meals, 10 months of going after what I wanted 100% (sure, I messed up here and there. But consistency is about the cumulative total of your efforts, not the few times you slipped up). .

Long lasting, sustainable, healthy results take TIME. Shortcuts & quick fixes are NEVER the answer. If you’re looking to change your physique, your body is worth a real investment- give it the time it needs to get there the right way 👍

Im gonna be honest with ya, right before I put this set on I tried a bikini on that I ordered and was almost in tears because it looked awful. I wasn’t upset about what I was looking at in the mirror but what I wasn’t looking at. I feel like I have really let myself go these past few months instead of getting stronger like I promised myself. I’m glad I put the swim suit on and this set because it teaches me that things will fit differently & to just keep pushing to succeed rather than beat myself up. I feel great in this set and would 💯% recommend this active wear to anyone. •

If you know me, I have been focusing on my #gettingstronger series through these last eight weeks of the year. With only three weeks left my goal this week is just to get back on track with everything I have already worked on. It is hard to change habits in eight weeks, but If I can come out of it having 4 strong habits then I will be perfectly happy. 💁🏻‍♀️

When they say "Muscle takes time to build" they are absolutely right! I went from hating my arms and covering them up all the time. To loving them and wanting to show them off. 😁

3. Not taking deload weeks
4. Not eating enough protein

8. Taking pre workout for the first time before a swim meet😂

This week on #gettingstronger has been focused on procrastination. So although I have perfected the use of waking up to have the time, I still procrastinate until the last minute. So, I am focusing on being active & useful of those hours. So far going GREAT!!! Also update from last week skin care- still working on the motivation to clean my face at night but killing it in the morning! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Haven’t posted very much lately, but it’s been kinda nice not to stress about content and social media for a few days ☺️ skipped the gym, didn’t count macros or calories or portions, and had a chill Thanksgiving with family yesterday 🦃 We got right back on it today, though, because we have work to do 💪🏻 .

Did want to make a post about what I’m grateful for- I’m always very reflective around this time of year, I have more at this point in my life than I ever dreamt possible just a few years ago. Don’t get me wrong, there’s always something to be thankful for no matter your circumstances, and it isn’t all about material possessions or money, but I don’t ever want to forget how little I had at one point because I never want to take for granted the blessings I have now ❤️

I’m grateful for my salvation and relationship with the Lord, first and foremost. No matter how much I screw up or think I know what’s best for my life, He’s always there for me I’m grateful for the unconditional love and support of my husband @mark.waits , who never ceases to be my biggest cheerleader in life no matter what crazy ambitions I throw at him. I’m grateful for my car, because even though it may not be anything special, i didn’t even have one when I left home at 17. I’m grateful for a warm, cozy apartment, because I had nowhere to go but a dorm room not that long ago. I’m grateful for financial stability, because when I dropped out of college and had no savings and was working 40+ hours a week in fast food, I was living paycheck to paycheck with no prospect of that changing. I’m grateful for the clothes in my closet, more than I could ever need, because I used to be so broke I couldn’t afford more than one pair of jeans. I’m grateful for good health and the ability to train, for real friends like @ducoteallison and @allison_mogul and @drewbeglau11 and @zachunley, for the opportunity to start my own business, for the privilege of helping others achieve their health and fitness goals as a career, and I’m thankful for all of you ❤️ thank you for following along with my journey on here. .

If there’s one thing I needed, it was a better haircut... 😂 Pretty sure that on the left picture I’d never stepped within 10 metres of a gym, if you couldn’t tell by the arms 🤣

Fitness- I have slacked off the last couple of days..just been so busy.
Nutrition- was doing great for about a week & then I had a busy weekend..getting back on track!!

Haven’t done a comparison post in over a year soooo let’s see what’s been cooking under the hood. Heads up, I’m gonna mention my weight here, so if that kind of thing freaks you out then look away now 👉🏻

So on the left is me about 6 months after I first picked up a barbell, weighing 54kg. I remember being SO thrilled that I had the beginnings of abs and a little arm muscle. On the right is me now, nearly three and a half years later, coming in at just over 57kg.

Progress takes time. Getting stronger takes time. Gaining muscle is so humbling simply because it’s such a long process. I’m not saying one of these physiques is fundamentally ‘better’ than the other; I’m not here to ‘inspire’ anyone to lose weight or change what they look like. I loved my body in both of these photos, but sometimes looking backwards is really useful to see how much progress you’ve made 🙌🏻
