your metabolism is the process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy💥 This energy is used for all the functions that go on in your body such as breathing, keeping your heart beating + your digestion, in addition to using energy through daily movement and exercise🏃‍♀️

HOW IS IT MEASURED?📈
Your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) is the total amount of calories your body uses in a day. There are 4 factors that make up your TDEE🔥
1️⃣ BASAL METABOLIC RATE (BMR) this is the rate at which your body burns calories at rest (so literally what your body would require to keep you alive and functioning optimally if you were to not move all day)
.
2️⃣ EXERCISE ACTIVITY THERMOGENESIS (EAT) this is the calories burned through intentional exercise like weight training/ running
.
3️⃣ NON EXERCISE ACTIVITY THERMOGENESIS (NEAT) this is the calories burned through non intentional exercise activity; so your daily movement like walking, fidgeting, moving etc ➡️🔊 this can actually vary by up to 2000 calories in people or similar sizes!!! And it’s likely the reason why your friend who lives off pizza + ice-cream maintains a naturally slim physique: they are most likely burning it off through being constantly active in the daily NON EXERCISE activity

4️⃣ THERMIC EFFECT OF FOOD this is the calories burned through the process of digesting your food -  compared with fats and carbs, protein actually requires more energy to digest and absorb which therefore increases the overall thermic effect of food. So protein essentially has a double metabolic effect as it contributes to building/maintaining muscle AND requires more calories to digest

The metabolism is such a complex bodily system and there’s still SO much research to be done on the ins and outs of the human metabolism. Depending on the workout, and depending if they are a complete train wreck or not

usually what I like to do is wait til the athlete stops for a quick breather before giving them any cues or feedback, as opposed to stoping them mid-rep and slow down their momentum.

It’s more efficient and provides a better overall experience for the athlete.

Also keep note that the feedback should always be positive! Or have positive undertones.. There’s nothing more deflating than  a coach walking up to you during the WOD and telling you that you’re not good enough.

If your goal is fat loss, the ideal situation would be to perform strength training first, followed by cardiovascular training. When you strength train, your body utilizes glycogen (fuel stored in the muscle).

So if you strength train first, and then do cardio immediately after, your body will start burning fat for fuel, since you have depleted all your available glycogen reserves. -

There comes a point in time where just “working hard” isn’t enough to progress optimally. Without breaking yourself, that is. -

I’m sure we’ve all heard that we need to get stronger over time and progressively overload to create a significant stimulus that will bring about further progression. That’s absolutely true. What’s also true is that there are a ton of ways to achieve progressive overload without simply adding load to the bar. -

On the hack squat today I added a rep to two of my sets from last week with the same load, execution improved and rest periods were a bit more controlled. That’s still progression!

Немного запоздал мой пост 🙈 но, в общем начинаем марафон с такого веса.

Мой изначальный был 79 кг. Я сбросила 8 кг просто на лайте, просто заменив ужин порцией #energydiet,  для меня это Мега результат.

Потом пошли праздники новогодние, выходные 🙈 и о правильном питании и похудении можно было вообще забыть 🤬

И, как видите, ничего обратно ко мне не вернулось, эти 2 кг (была 71, стала 73) я не считаю таким критичным показателем, это не +8 или +10 +12, как люди набирают после диет - похудели на 5, прибавили потом 10.

У меня есть объяснение этому - #energydiet - это не химия, это СБАЛАНСИРОВАННОЕ ПИТАНИЕ. Деток кормим же смесью? Это то же самое!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself and share a little bit about me with you all and express my excitement on our NEWEST Metabolic location to open up in in Manlius, NY this summer🤗! .
My name is Alissa Cook, but you can also call me Liss! I’m a Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Coach, as well as a Behavior Change Specialist, all of which were studied through NASM. I myself have overcome many obstacles in my past with one of them being a great amount of weight loss after gaining 80+ pounds with one of my two pregnancies. Through that weight loss journey I found a true passion for fitness and health after turning around my lifestyle both physically and mentally and wanted to find a career helping others do the same! I’m a fun loving person with grit and I’m ready to help you guys meet your health and fitness goals 🙌🏻🏋🏼‍♀️!! .
