How to engage your UNDER BOOTY + set up the leg extension for thrusts 👏🏼

GIRL your missing out if you haven't tried thrusts on this machine.. the glute engagement is ridiculous 🔥 bench height is key for a proper stance I find this takes the load off the hammies and puts it on the glutes. all these exercises are AMAZING at stimulating muscle fibres in the under booty area of the legs

1️⃣ Barbell good morning: 12 reps | warm up the hip flexors for better rom for thrusts and squats 
2️⃣ Hip thrusts on extension: 15-20 reps | watch the video for how to set up and note my face 😂

3️⃣ DB fast step up: 15 reps 
4️⃣ High step up: 8-10 reps

5️⃣ Squat to curtesy lunge: 10 reps each side

The Leg Extension often gets a negative view. When performed with control and proper intent, this can be very safe and effective training for adding volume to your quad training.

I’m using the @primefitnessusa plate loaded Leg Extension in this example.

The key points to maintain control within this movement:
✅ Lining yourself up with the pivot point of the machine
✅ Pulling yourself down into the seat to help stabilize your pelvis
✅ Not flinging the weight out of the bottom — this is where a lot of issues can start to arise with the knee and causing undue stress to that joint. The knee has little stability in this part of the movement. So, it may not be the exercise here causing your knee pain as much as your execution.
✅ Control the eccentric part of each rep — maintain control and get the most out of the exercise.

Saturday morning was #Cardio day. Did my own workout, I think my trainer @salf_belief would've been be proud of me 🤣🤣. Earpods in throwback 90s music R&B playing. Stepper for 20 mins, crosstrainer for 20 mins. Squats 20kg on Smiths Machine 12 reps x3 sets. Did'nt want to overdo it. Then worked on abs, it was necessary,10 reps of leg raises, 10 reps of short stomach crunches, 10 reps of swivels repeated for 3 sets each. Back on the treadmill for 10 mins. Workout done. PT on Tuesday #legday with @salf_belief😫 . I noticed while squatting with @bkupniewski that my wrists loveeee to go backwards throughout my sets. We think it’s from my crossfit days of hang cleans and power cleans. You’ll see I stop my sets to fix my wrists when I realize they’re going backwards at times. It’s not perfect yet (clearly), but it’s a definite improvement and I’m able to see the mistakes which is most important 😊. Progress not perfection my friends!!

Sur le ring ça pardonne pas, quand tu crois que tu es au top, on peut vite te rappeler que tu peux souffler les bougies aussi vite que tu es entré à travers les cordes.

Over the years I’ve seen a lot of leg presses, and not many people actually use their full range of motion during this exercise. There’s not much point in lifting super heavy numbers but only barely bending your knees - go lighter, still challenging but lighter, and go down until you can’t maintain a good neutral spine, now you’re working your legs properly.

INSIDER TRAINING: WEEK 4, DAY 4

HOLY. SHIZ. This one was rough. I’m in week 4 of a 6-week training phase, and the volume is starting to get up there. I actually think my quads are still shaking somewhere back by the squat rack!

In Week 4 I’m now working at 1 rep from fail (I would need a spot to perform even 1 more rep), and again I’m increasing the weights by 2.5-5% on any exercises that I was 1-2 reps from the top of the weight range in last week’s lift. This increase in both volume and intensity is very stressful to the human body, and needs to be managed carefully. That means gauging my recovery status each day to ensure that my energy, soreness, mood, motivation to train and sleep quality are all still on point. 
At the end of a training block I’m looking to find the (safe) limit of volume that my body can handle and adapt to before I take a deload / back-off week. So far I’m in a great place still ... I have good energy and feel rested each day, my strength numbers are still climbing, and I’m slightly sore in trained muscle groups the next day but I feel minimal soreness by the time that I’m training them again. I’m going to push for one more hard week next week before I enjoy a deload!!! Here’s the lift (reps performed): Deficit Deadlift 4 x 8-12 @ 175 (12,10,10,9)

Another setup for elevated Matrix squats.
A strap keeps the shins from falling back and another supports the feet so they can press against the wall. It was not very simple to get in position, it took me 2 minutes and a half, but I guess it can be optimized instead of fumbling a lot, then you could do these almost anywhere. 
Considering that they can be done even on a tree, check out @edohardrajani who found a way for that ( https://www.instagram.com/p/B7wH25jiho8/ ), I did not think of that and maybe would have never had the idea.
It's more comfortable if the feet and shins are in separate ends of a looped strap, to avoid pressing the knees or feet together.

Here’s a cool leg extension video from @nattyknowledge. Leg extensions are a bit controversial as some people either experience knee pain or worry it will contribute to knee issues in the future. If leg extensions cause you pain or they scare you, don’t do them. Leg extensions should not be the primary focus of your leg workouts anyway and I only use them with light weight and high reps at the end of my workout as a finishing touch.

If you’re going to do leg extensions, you should at least do them correctly. Like I said, they should be used as a finishing touch with lighter weight for higher reps. This is certainly not the exercise where you should even be thinking about going heavy. Keep your butt on the pad and control the reps. Like I said, these won’t make or break your leg day regardless. Focus on squats, leg presses, and lunges. Use these as a finishing touch to get that sick quad pump so you have to crawl out of the gym after 😁.

Quads, 5th Awesome Quad Workouts in 2020, PRs Left & Right, Deload was earned Today!

• Pendulum Squats: 3x45lbs x 5+1 Reps & 3x45+25lbs x 3+1 Assisted (slow Start, but got an Extra Rep 💪 )
• Leg Press: 8x45lbs x 6 Reps & 9x45lbs x 3+1 Reps (because why the F- not?)
• Leg Extensions: 2x45+25lbs x 9+3 Partials (looped Cable Crossover Handles underneath the Machine for better Grip helps a lot!!)
• Banded Hack Squats: 4x45+25lbs x 4+1+1 Reps (as I type this I realise I totally forgot to go for 4.5 Plates per Side 😅 )
• Walking Lunges: 107kg+25kg Chain x 24 Steps (2 sets)
