Goals without precise and true motivation behind them will almost always fail. This is why so many people (me included 🙋🏼‍♀️) start things and drop them. The desire was there but I just wasn’t getting clear enough on the “why.” I encourage you to go deep with this - take ten to fifteen to establish your true motivations. You might find that they are or aren’t strong enough, and this is a good thing to take note of. .

Happy #weightgainjourney Wednesday. Here are a few tips for my hard gainers who are thinking about giving up on their #gains .

🌺  Learn to measure your meals. Yes I do weigh my food. By knowing what you are consuming it will keep you on track with your daily goals. If you don’t have a scale, you can use your hand, as a guide (google it).

🌺 Learn how to read a nutrition label. This will tell you how many calories per serving. As well as how many macro nutrients ex- carbs, proteins, and fats are in that serving. Most importantly it will also tell you what micro-nutrients (vitamins/minerals) are in the food as well.
.
🌺 Eat on a schedule. My most helpful tip. I usually eat every 2-3 hours. A small meal or a snack. This way no meals are missed and you get used to consuming a larger amount of food.
.
🌺 Bonus Tip: For my extremely hard gainers when I was around 100-110lbs I would drink my calories. Two of my favorite gainer shakes are: Red Con 1 MRE - Blueberry Cobbler( 4 scoops) and Optimum Nutrition Pro Gainer Chocolate (1 scoop) / I would do 16oz of almond milk. This made it much easier for me to break out of the 120’s.

Basically I like to gradually bring calories back up (mostly in the form of carbs because it’s a personal preference) until I reach my target and then check-in once a week using my fitness pal as information for the rest of the week and if I’m intaking where I think I am. Generally, I’m quite close and I know some days will be higher, some lower but I also know we are the average of everything we do all the time— so I’m good with that ✅✅

Happy Halloween guys! So I’m doing a mini “cut” before the Christmas season. I don’t want to get restrictive and my mindset and positivity towards my body has been at an all time high so I’m doing things so differently to how I had done in the past because my mental state is always priority number 1😊😊 ➡️I’m not saying “no” to treats, I’m just eating a little less of them! I’m also sticking to dark chocolate because I love it and it’s got those antioxidants ya knoww PS did ya see the brownie in my story today!! 😍 (I had a few bites of that & a small vegan got chocolate - brownie was vegan and GF) ➡️I’m focusing more than ever on stopping when I feel full. Sometimes, when watching TV & eating I zone out and I’m a bit less mindful. I’m just pulling things back and focusing on how I feel.
➡️I’m throwing in MORE HIIT workouts - I love them, it’s a win for the body and the mind 😉
✨I’m also loosely tracking 2 days a week on my fitness pal, which I haven’t done for 6 months, just to check my protein is all good!✨PS the @lululemonuk align joggers are pricey but to DIE for😍

One of the best feelings in the gym is getting a pump and feeling massive. One of the worst feelings is when that pump goes away and you go back to feeling small 😭. But what exactly is the pump? And does it actually play a role in building muscle?

The pump occurs from fluid accumulating in the muscle. The fluid comes from blood plasma and is known as edema. The pump is also known as “transient hypertrophy” because it’s temporary. That’s why you’ll return back to “normal” size shortly after your workouts.

You’ll often see people advise to “chase the pump.” This essentially means doing whatever you can to get as much of a pump in the muscle as possible. While this “feels” like it’s working because you literally see results and feel huge during the workout, it has a minimal impact on muscle growth. Instead, you should be focusing on progressive overload which is the key component when it comes to gaining strength and size.

Now, that doesn’t mean a pump is useless or that you should avoid getting a pump. It just means that the pump should not be your primary indicator of an effective workout. You will and still should get a pump while focusing on progressive overload. If you don’t get a pump in the muscle you’re supposed to be working, there’s a good chance your form is off and you’re not working the muscle properly. One of the best feelings in the gym is getting a pump and feeling massive. One of the worst feelings is when that pump goes away and you go back to feeling small 😭. But what exactly is the pump? And does it actually play a role in building muscle?

The pump occurs from fluid accumulating in the muscle. The fluid comes from blood plasma and is known as edema. The pump is also known as “transient hypertrophy” because it’s temporary. That’s why you’ll return back to “normal” size shortly after your workouts.

You’ll often see people advise to “chase the pump.” This essentially means doing whatever you can to get as much of a pump in the muscle as possible. While this “feels” like it’s working because you literally see results and feel huge during the workout, it has a minimal impact on muscle growth. Instead, you should be focusing on progressive overload which is the key component when it comes to gaining strength and size.

Now, that doesn’t mean a pump is useless or that you should avoid getting a pump. It just means that the pump should not be your primary indicator of an effective workout. You will and still should get a pump while focusing on progressive overload. If you don’t get a pump in the muscle you’re supposed to be working, there’s a good chance your form is off and you’re not working the muscle properly. and added some modified safe very popular ab workouts. Let me know how you all go. Aim for 3-5 rounds. Don’t have a theraband, try an old pair of stockings 😉
1. Chest Press 15-20reps
2. Tricep Kickbacks 15-20reps (can also be done on your knees)
3. Modified Mountain Climbers 15-20reps each side
4. Chest Fly 15-20reps
5. Overhead Tricep Extension 15-20reps (can also be some sitting).

Be sure to use my Core & Pelvic Floor Exercise Program as a warm up beforehand. It’s written by me (a qualified Osteopath) and goes into more detail on how to properly position the spine and pelvis, recruit the intrinsic and supportive musculature and surrounding structures in order to achieve the best therapeutic outcome. You also gradually build your strength as I guide you through the various levels and best of all it only takes 10minutes 3 times a week!!!. .

5 Back Exercises Which Should Leave Your Back Feeling Swole AF!

A)Pull-Ups.
•Something I focus on with my pull-ups is quality over quantity, I'm not looking to compete at the cross-fit games so I don't try do 50 shit reps.
•My main focuses here are: 
1.Depressing the scapula at the bottom, before pulling up.
2.Keeping elbows fairly tight into the body to activate more lats.
3.Taking time at the top of the movement to activate & squeeze as much of my back as possible.
4.Getting a full stretch at the bottom.

B)Deadlifts.
•No PB lifts here, purely technique & muscle activation focused. 8 Reps x 5 sets.
•I put a huge focus on activating my lats by pulling the bar hard into my legs before ascending to minimize any rounding of the back.

C)Pendlay Rows.
•I like adding these in as one of my favorite compound rows.
•Pendlays are a more demanding than regular BB rows, due to the fact you are lifting from a dead-stop while having minimal lift through your hips.

D)Rear-Delt Crossovers
•Personally I like adding extra rear-delt work into my back day as they are a heavily neglected muscle by most people & can always use extra work.

E)Reverse Back Crossovers
•A great upper back finisher. Focusing purely on the contraction & pumping as much blood into those muscles.

Hit your back from every angle possible to give it the best chance for symmetrical growth!

Back was always the muscle group I struggled to develop the most. My struggles came down to bad form, bad mind muscle connection, and suboptimal routine design.

Rather than hitting your back with a ton of exercises once per week, you should split it up over at least 2 workouts. I like to include 1-2 vertical pulls (like pull-ups) and 1-2 horizontal pulls (like rows) per session. Deadlifts can be incorporated in several ways depending on how your routine is set up.

Most importantly, you need to develop a mind muscle connection with your back. I used to only feel back movements in my biceps. You need to visualize your hands and arms as hooks and focus on pulling with your back. It’s much easier said than done and takes practice. Using straps could potentially help you as well.

Daily Tip *Throwback*: Cut out soda. Out of all of the clients I’ve worked with over the years a recurring theme is soda. Soda here, soda there, there’s a soda everywhere; look at soft drink sales over the last 5 years. Soft drinks don’t come to play, they stay to play, so deeply in fact that if I fail to specifically ask “what is your relationship with soft drinks?” during the nutritional portion of a consultation, it often doesn’t dawn on them to mention. Look at the nutritional facts for an average canned soft drink; what do you notice? See the sugar content? And the large amount of high glycemic carbs? What are you doing when you drink soda? Are you in between jump shots like a Kobe Bryant commercial or on the mound ready to throw fastballs like a Lebron James ad? I’ll guess probably not, likely relaxing or at the office sending emails right? So that insulin spike resulting from the poor quality carbohydrates is all for the opposite of the greater good; it’s for the ‘worser’ worst. So here’s your quick jump on progress if you do nothing else; cut out soda. That one move will give you fast guaranteed results. Now imagine if you trash the soft drink habit aaand start up your fitness program? You can have the world in your palm; Be Great.

To build the triceps keep your elbows close to the body and despite what any fool tells you get a deep stretch at the bottom but not beyond the engagement of the triceps. The triceps and chest should be the prime movers during the movement.

Well, I actually have a future show in mind. Not anytime soon, unfortunately. As much as I would have loved to keep prepping into another show. Yes I said it. I still feel my game face and I was ready to keep going and get lean and mean. Prepped for this show for about 11 weeks and I knew I wouldn’t be at my best or my leanest. I KNEW that. But my fire was lit and I was ready to get my feet wet again and that’s exactly what I did. We came. We saw. We conquered what we had in mind to do. Promise next time I’m going to have a long, steady prep and come in at my all time leanest because I haven’t got to see that yet. Anyways, I do have a future show in mind already. I am forced to take time away from the gym for a few weeks though and maybe that’s the way it was meant to be. I can’t describe how amazing this prep and this show was for me though. WOW. Talk about 10 steps forward in my mental game. I felt happy to prep. I felt happy on stage. I was so glad to be there. My prep was pretty stress free although it was my first one as a single mom, working full time, full time student and prepping, but it was my best and I know it’s only going to get better. I was surrounded with amazing, supportive people and I can’t thank you all enough for that. So here we go. Up and onward 🙏🏼🖤 Let’s go 2020 .

happy tuesday, fit friends💖 today i wanted to talk about something that hits everyone a little differently; weighing yourself 😳

tracking weight is the average measure of progress. people weigh themselves day in and day out to track every little bit of daily progress. this can lead to a lot of frustration if we don’t see that number shift in the direction we want it to. we’ve all been there. you might look in the mirror and think “i think i made progress this week” step on the scale and that number hasn’t budged 😾
.
there are many ways that i personally track; i measure about once or twice a month, i take weekly progress pics, i asses how i feel in my clothes, and i weigh myself. many people have painted weighing yourself as like this super negative thing when in fact it’s just a number that you don’t have to define yourself by! if you think that you are tying too much of your identity to the scale try taking a progress picture instead and tucking your scale away for a time when you feel more confident. by that time when you feel ready to weigh yourself again you’ll have loads of progress pictures to look back on if the numbers don’t reflect exactly what you think they’ll reflect 😝

reaching your goals doesn’t have to be emotionally draining or miserable! it really is what you make of it and when you make choices that make you feel good you WILL enjoy the journey more than the destination 🥰
