Big day for Logan yesterday as he worked through clean doubles. He hit 130kg/286lbs, 140kg/308lbs and ended on a huge clean double PR at 145kg/319lbs (shown first). Weighing just above 70kg/154lbs means he cleaned over double bodyweight... for a double! Can’t wait to see him compete in December at American Open Finals.

WEIGHTLIFTING WEDNESDAY! 
Deload.. You may of heard the term Deload been tossed around the gym, and possible may not know what it is, or why you should take them. So I’m going to outline some key points. 
So a deload is a period of time (usually a week) in which training volume and occasionally intensity (weight) are decreased in order to aid the following; 
Firstly, Injury prevention, with most Strength based plans we are constantly pushing for more volume or weight day after day, week after week, now this all comes at a price as Fatigue, this can me muscles not recovering fully before the next session or the CNS (central nervous system) not being as sharp as it should be. With these two factors down there’s a high risk when attempting a heavier or higher volume workout that injury can occur, your body is simply not recovered to handle that work. 
Secondly, Technique, with the reduction of Intensity this is a perfect chance to work on small technical errors or try out a few new things without effecting your current workout plan, trying to adjust or correct technique at a 80%+ intensity in my opinion could leave you at risk of injury or missed lifts. 
Finally, Your mental state, I feel as this one is different for everyone but me personally and what I’ve seen in clients is you can only be pushed for so long before training becomes a chore or you dread the workout even before it’s done. Deloading can be a great opportunity to stress less about training allowing you to chill out come into the gym smash the workout and leave. Which makes me personally feel great! And enthusiastic again too push for the heavier/ higher volume work.
