Everyone wants abs but most people approach getting abs incorrectly. It seems logical that doing an endless amount of cardio and crunches will lead to the fastest results but that is not the way to go. Too much of anything is not usually the answer, especially when it comes to most fitness goals.

People are usually surprised when I say that I only train my abs directly once or twice per week. The reason is because your abs get stimulated during all compound exercises such as deadlifts, squats, bench, and overhead press. You’ll even be working your abs on some isolation exercises like tricep pushdowns. Some will argue that compounds are all you need to develop abs. I’m not going to argue. I agree that you can probably get solid abs with only compounds. Just like you can build a pretty impressive physique doing only compounds, you could likely do the same with abs. However, if you really want abs, I suggest not being lazy and still isolating them at least once or twice during the week.

Ultimately, having visible abs comes down to being lean enough to see them and there are no short cuts to getting lean. That comes down to a caloric deficit with sufficient protein, a solid routine with some cardio, and PATIENCE. However, abs are a muscle like anything else and in order to build them up, focusing on compound movements with some isolation is sufficient.

Try these exercises for 3 sets, 12 reps each 💃🏼
Just an FYI, getting abs isn’t only going to be done by doing ab workouts specifically. If you engage your core in every exercise you do, even on leg day… that will still strengthen your abs and help build that definition you all want 💛 I always make sure to engage my core when executing any exercise! •

There are two parts to this process:
⠀
1. Thicken up the muscles in the abdominal area
2. Lower your body fat so that you can see the muscle.

How to lower your body fat:

Abs are made primarily in the kitchen.
⠀
honestly I’ve tried every diet. Most people can lose weight restricting calories, but can you maintain the weight loss?

If you want to achieve truly sustainable weight loss, you want to place your focus on:
⠀
👉  Following a high satiety, anti-Inflammatory diet most of the time. This is a grain/dairy/sugar free diet with lots of healthy fats, vegetables, wild fish or pastured, antibiotic & hormone free animal products.
⠀
I don’t expect you to never eat grain/dairy/sugar again, but try three months of this program along with pharmaceutical grade digestive support (my favourite brand is Bioptimizers enzymes, HCL, and probiotics) and you will be pleasantly surprised with a shift in your body composition.

There are so many delicious alternatives to grains/dairy/sugar by the way.
⠀
Sugar alternatives: erythritol, stevia
⠀
Grain alternatives: almond flour, coconut flour, cassava flour, sweet potato, squash, yams, pumpkin. Rice in general is better than other grains for most people. I eat rice here and there.

👉Improve your gut health. Many people have an unhealthy balance of good and bad bacteria in their gut. This can cause massive sugar cravings and chronic inflammation. When you are dealing with sugar cravings and chronic inflammation, it can be difficult to reach your ideal body composition. 👉Find a way to incorporate active relaxation into your lifestyle. When cortisol (the stress hormone) is always elevated, this can cause us to hang onto belly fat as there are many cortisol receptors in the abdomen area. ⠀

Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope everyone is having a good week so far....this week I didn’t get to post for #SteelCoreSundays so this post will be a 2 in one. 
This is based off of a workout used for football players that’s normally done with the “agility ladder”. This variation uses the stack which you can use to push yourself to jump higher. This works a lot of quads, glutes, calves, and ABS . Start off slow to get the rhythm then start to speed it up. At no point should both your feet be on the ground at the same time. 
Start with 30 seconds on 30 seconds off...once you get more conditioned increase the time to a minute+ with short rests. Great HIIT workout to burn fat fast as well. Thank you @peligrosa203 for being this week’s featured athlete. 💪🏽

Happy Canada Day to all the Native Canadians and Immigrants like me 🇨🇦 🤗❤️
🇨🇦 When people ask me where I’m from, I always say I’m Romanian, I hardly ever mention I’m Canadian too.
🇨🇦 I owe a lot to Canada even if nothing came easy in the 11 years and a half I lived there. 🇨🇦 I discovered my passion for Weight Training in Toronto where being fit it’s part of daily living. I hated the demanding job I landed in as a Trust Officer in a big financial institution where I felt old and not myself at all. Lifestyle was so boring compared to what I was used to in Bucharest; even if I related more to the first generation of immigrants, the gym had a big impact on me. 🇨🇦 Weight Training gave me an empowerment and a new perspective on life. Everyone was welcomed in a gym regardless of fitness level, age, physical limitations. Starting to train at age 28 was not considered too old. Neither the fact that I’ve never been the athletic type has been a barrier.
🇨🇦 Then moving to Montreal which I will always consider my second home (after living 8 years and a half ❤️), gave me the opportunity to focus more on fitness while continuing to work for the same financial company. The French relaxed lifestyle felt like a glove in every aspect and reminded me of my lifestyle in Bucharest.
🇨🇦 In Montreal I met a lot of wonderful people from all around the world both at work and in the gym. 🇨🇦 Canada is the only country I’ve been too where all nationalities, races & religions blend peacefully without judgement while keeping their own culture and identity ❤️. Today I’ve been busy replacing classes at Ritz then training my clients at World Gym; I realized I don’t have a new video wearing the 🇨🇦 colors.

So I’m going to repost one of my favorite videos in red & white. A little Abs motivation can’t hurt on a Mon even if it’s a holiday in Canada & Cayman!

2️⃣ Supine yoga ball leg raises (keep that back nice and flat on the ground) 
3️⃣ Hanging knee raises (use your abdominal muscles to raise your knees to your chest and not momentum) .
DISCLAIMER➡️ we all have abs 😨. If you can see them or not they are there! Doing 2,991 sit ups won’t make your abs visible.  In order to make your abs visible you must decrease the adipose tissue/ fat covering them. Best way to do that is by being in a calorie deficit!

I am a staunch believer of chasing athleticism and aesthetics will follow.

But sometimes you gotta look good for that big life event etc etc. 😁 📢 Ladies and gents listen up,

Getting visible abs requires two things :

1. Low body fat:
HIIT based workouts and cardio will help, along with proper nutrition.

Tracking your macros and being in a calorie deficit diet will be tremendously helpful.

This can be achieved in a matter of months.

2. Strong big abs/core:

This should be our long term goal.

Not only will it help us prevent injury and pain but a strong and well built core is fundamental to having the flat stomach/ abs you always desired.

Even when you are "out of shape" if you have a well built core you can always get abs in a matter of months if not weeks.

Boxing and bodyweight core training has worked wonders for me, now it's time for you to figure our what works for you.

Someone asked me what I wanted on my tombstone today & this is what ooozed out of me as I started crying.. for the second time today.. balling like a baby in a public place in front of first time acquaintances.. all the while becoming showered with an unbelievable feeling of joy & peace in my heart.. Darin Steen - Was  a great father.. along with many successes he encountered some very big losses.. he learned from all  his experiences and rebuilt his businesses & relationships many times.. always going next level.. & he FUCKIN ( sorry momma.. but cussing is one of the only ways the younger people will listen to me ) LOVED  helping anyone & or everyone get rich by giving!! #HealthIsWealth  #FatlossLifestyle
He built his physique by grinding hard since 1978 ( his freshman year of hs ) with no drugs, hormones or PED's... His Physique  was not about him.. It was obvious to see by his actions (in public & solitude)  that his message.. of "anyONE & EVERYone has the possibility to become a slightly better, stronger, more engaged, less stressed version of themselves & thus be able to propel that positive ripple effect of health & wellness through their circles...
