Hey! My name is Oksana Zariczny and I'll be honest with you I hated how I looked. I felt ugly and lacked confidence because my skin was, for lack of better words, a shit show! 🤦🏼‍♀️ I struggled with hormonal acne A LOT in my teen years and I still experience occasional breakouts in my mid twenties. Let's be honest I wouldn't be human if I didn't. 
I went on Accutane when I was 15 and let me tell you, one pill, in any circumstance, will not change your life! I was so set on this one single pill that I took for 5 months to help clear my skin and boost my confidence. To be fair it did clear up my skin a little bit but it also left me dried up as a prune, caused me to lose my appetite and caused damage to my liver. After all of that, my acne came back! RUDE!
So I began my journey to finding the best possible approach to clearing my skin and getting my hormones to a balanced state. 
I attended Humber College for Esthetician/ Spa Management program right after high school to learn everything I could about skin. I then attended The Institute of Holistic Nutrition to get a better understanding about our bodies and how a holistic lifestyle can balance my hormones and bonus, clear my skin.

I never understood why I had to go through what I did with my skin only until recently. I am thankful for my skin journey because it lead me HERE! I am a Holistic Nutritionist who is extremely passionate about helping women balance their skin and hormones in a holistic way! & I wouldn't change my skin experience for the world.

It’s MOIST in the best ways, fluffy and crunchy AT THE SAME TIME which almost seems impossible given that the base is almond flour 🙌 They make the best QUARINSNACK, something that I have been taking very seriously these past few weeks ✨ I’m on DAY 1 of my cycle and luckily I’m already doing the one thing I recommend during this time, isolate. Taking time to chill out today, no work outs or frustrating tasks. Lots of ginger teas, meditation, time spent in the sun and perhaps some journaling, all FABULOUS ways to spend this cycle phase.

Gestern war mein 4 monatiges auf Hormonen! 
Jetzt wo ich den Bildvergleich sehe bin ich tatsächlich beruhigt. Es ist verdammt schwer im Alltag Veränderungen wahrzunehmen und nicht die Hoffnung zu verlieren! Man fokussiert sich auf die großen Dinge die sich scheinbar nicht ändern wollen obwohl so viele kleine Veränderungen gleichzeitig passieren! 
Doch nur von den Bildern würde ich sagen das sich meine Gesichtsform langsam anfängt zu ändern! Auch was die Gesichtsbehaarung angeht wird alles etwas schneller und auf der Oberlippe kommen ein paar Haare mehre zu Vorschein 😬 
So langsam fängt auch eine Körperfettumverteilung an. Meine Oberschenkel werden beispielsweise etwas schmaler. Im allgemeinen fühle ich mich auch körperlich stärker. 
Meine Stimme ist immer noch recht am Anfang der Veränderung wobei ich mittlerweile glaube das eine Veränderung hörbar ist. 
Am Donnerstag habe ich ein Telefonat mit meinem Endokrinologen. In den letzten Monaten hatte ich immer eine Woche vor der nächsten Spritze totale Schlafstörungen und gleichzeitig Müdigkeit und Erschöpfung. Da das ein Anzeichen für eine zu niedrige Dosierung sein könnten, bin ich mal gespannt was der Dok sagt! ————————————————————

Been healing my hormones since December (honest update)

Just like you, I'm impatient. I want results now- but to learn patience is a virtual and my body has its own plan on how long this will take naturally..

In this process: I cried, wanted to give up 5 times-yes as a coach I got in my own head and struggled from time to time. I had to accept gaining weight is ok because my body needs this from what I put it through in the past. Some of you might think “she let herself go” or “how can she be a fitness coach if she isn’t lean” This is why you should NEVER judge a book by its cover. You don't know what I accomplished in life or what I put my body through…

Positive note my hormones are improving through blood work and other home tests I have been doing so we know internally things are healing!!! It's all about eating enough food, the right food and taking the right supplements. So my body is learning to trust me again, in time I will be able to “lean” out again but i must embrace this for now and educate other women not to be so strict or try fads diets, workout 6 days a week, or be a cardio bunny! This does catch up to you! I am working with a couple clients currently where I had to tell them their body isn't ready for a diet due to underlying issues or from previous dieting. It breaks my heart to tell them this because I know how bad they wanted this- because that was me also so i know exactly how they feel. But knowing they have my support to get them through this, they know they will fight this and get to their goal down the road. It's having faith and also knowing you have a coach that cares about your health and is willing to explain why and being completely honest with you.

The simple things ✨ Another immune soup recipe: butternut squash, carrot and ginger soup. Containing anti inflammatory turmeric, antiviral GARLIC and glutamine rich bone broth as a base. I’ll also add a can of coconut milk (@bionaorganic is always my favourite, have you SEEN the ingredients in some of the standard coconut milks?!) because we need our healthy fats, quarantined or not! 🌈🙌 Recipe? I made a big batch to store in the fridge / freezer to grab for on those days when you just can’t be bothered. 👉 1 large butternut squash, 1 large carrot, 1 large garlic clove (all chopped and roasted with avocado / coconut oil until soft). 1X400ml tin of coconut milk, 1 cup of bone broth, 1 thumb-sized piece of fresh ginger (or 1 tsp of ground), 1 tsp of turmeric, Salt and Pepper. Optional: @coyo_uk plain to top ✨ Once everything is roasted up, throw into a blender with everything else until smooth. Heat on the stove and store once cool ✨🌸 PS. PCOS Friendly Oats Cookies

If you are staying at home this days, take the opportunity to try this easy and delicious cookies. Stay positive and productive!

i n g r e d i e n t s: • 1 1/2 cups gluten free oats
•2 tablespoons almond flour
•1/2 teaspoon baking soda
•1/2 teaspoon pink salt
•4 tablespoons coconut oil melted and cooled
•2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
•2 medium ripe bananas, peeled and mashed
•1/2 cup full fat coconut milk in can
•1/4 cup maple syrup (optional)
•2 pieces 78% dark chocolate

m e t h o d:

1️⃣Preheat your oven to 160 C Line a large baking tray with unbleached parchment paper and set it aside.

2️⃣In a large bowl, place the oats, almond flour, baking soda and salt, and whisk to combine well. Add the coconut oil, bananas, coconut milk, apple cider vinegar, and maple syrup if using, and mix to combine well. The dough will be very soft. Place the bowl in the refrigerator and chill for about 10 minutes.

3️⃣Scoop the dough with a medium-size ice cream scoop and press down on top of each piece of dough to spread into a disk.

4️⃣Add small piece of chocolate in the centre of the cookie and bake until golden brown around edges, about 20 min.
Enjoy!

“Who would have thunk, Kelsey never gained the Freshman 15, but here we are gaining the HA (hypothalamic amenorrhea) 15 together.” - Trev 😂 I cant make this up guys, Trev said this to me in the kitchen while I was baking for like the 8th time since being in quarantine. (I really like dessert okay)⁣

I didn’t have the typical college experience so I didn’t gain weight like most do when they are in that phase of life. ⁣
⁣
I’ve also never been a big drinker, but instead a big dessert lover! ⁣

So my MAIN way to increase my calories on my HA recovery journey has been through homemade desserts. 😍⁣

Trev also benefiting from this... and enjoying every second 😂 ⁣

It’s really funny because when we first started dating in high school almost 10 years ago, I didn’t know how to cook, I loved fast food, and really ate whatever I wanted .... ⁣

Then I went through my ultra restrictive phase... (hello HA) ⁣

And now I’m back at a place where I’m experiencing food freedom again, and it’s fun... because it’s as if in 10 years I’ve come full circle! ⁣

In contrast to our approach in the Flow Phase, as we transition into the Follicular Phase we support with more nourishing and supplementing botanicals. Falls into the category of herbs that ‘ Nourish the Heart and Calm the Spirit’. In addition to calming the emotions and supporting the replenishment of the yin fluids, it also helps to move the blood gently. Some sources say that this herb helps to build tissue, which supports our purpose here in building new endometrial tissue.⁠⠀

Day 291🥩 Dinner... almost didn't happen. Beef liver 😍, more hollandaise sauce, small beef rump, crispy chicken skin bits, small chicken neck. I actually gave the rump steak to hubby and grabbed some chicken from the fridge instead. What kind of carnivore am I to pass on the beef, huh?!🤣 Thing is... I wasn't hungry AT ALL but really craved some of that fantastic beef liver😍...
🔴 Today we enjoyed a lovely long walk in the warm sun while also keeping #socialdistancing as you can see from my pic. It's been a few good weeks since we went out during the day other than basic food shopping and we avoided even that as much as possible.😥 So believe me....this walk in the sun was a true blessing for both of us. Got home late afternoon and was surprised I wasn't hungry at all 7 hrs after my last meal. Took my blood glucose  and was totally surprised to see a 3.8/68 on my meter.😳 The lowest I have measured lately. Took my ketones too 3.0. Thing is.....I was feeling great, no hunger, no weakness or tiredness or headaches. So no hypoglycemia. .....So it looks like the bouts of weakness/lightheadedness I had a while ago hadn't anything to do with low blood sugar after all. And I don't have any hypoglycemia which I'm so dang happy.🤨 It must've been something else because my blood sugars are fine. And I had plenty of energy throughout the day. Ugh! I'm overthinking all these🙄🤣

By hydrating, you are improving collagen, you are lessening the scar tissue, you are improving the body's ability to remove waste.

Think about it, when your body has gone through a surgery like a back surgery, in this example, your body wants to recover and it needs everything, it needs all hands on deck. And if you're not drinking enough water, then you are not going to be removing waste as well, so now your body is going to combat removing waste because you're dehydrated and all the other effects that go into dehydration.

Even more important, when you've been under a surgery, when you've been under a knife that you need to hydrate. You have to do it, because your body is relying on you to give it what it needs so that it can help to heal, then help that process, repair all of the ligaments, tendons, skin and all of the different things that go into some kind of a surgery.

I’ve been very productive with work and getting in a ton of activity. I find myself more relaxed about things right now because I don’t have appointments to rush off to. This has enabled me to get in some great workouts and more walks outside between emails, work projects, and programs with clients! Grateful for this time to focus and soak up some sunshine!

Here is a great glute finisher I added to the end of my leg workout yesterday. You can add any amount of resistance you would like with a band and is super easy to do anywhere!

Superfoods Protein Balls (not for the faint of heart)

Makes 20-24 balls depending on size

1.5 cups GF rolled oats
2 T hemp hearts
2 T unsweetened coconut
1/4 cup dried cranberries 
1/4 cup chocolate chips
1 T raw cacao powder
2 scoops Dr Cobi’s Vegan protein powder
1/2 cup nut or seed butter 
1 T raw honey
2-4 T plant based milk

Mix everything into a big bowl. 
Get your hands really dirty and combine all ingredients into a big blob
Roll into balls

Devour! .

The body is complicated and we know that weight loss is more complex than simple calories in and calories out. .

Oftentimes stalled or plateaued weight is a result of a few common underlying causes:

👉🏼 Low thyroid function. Our thyroid controls our metabolism and chronic stress as well as many other contributing factors can lead to a sluggish thyroid, excessive fatigue and stubborn weight.

👉🏼 Stress. Stress is a common theme among most of these other factors. Chronic elevated stress keeps our body in fight or flight mode and this can also mess with our hunger hormone ghrelin that regulates our appetite. .

👉🏼 Hormones especially estrogen dominance. Excess estrogen in the body can lead to weight gain and water retention and unfortunately a lot of women struggle with high estrogen as a result of environmental toxins like plastics/BPA and other synthetic chemicals that mimic estrogen. Over time, stress can lead to estrogen dominance and blood sugar issues which both also can contribute to weight gain.

👉🏼 Excess sugar and refined carbs. When we over consume sugar and refined/processed carbs, this spikes insulin levels and over time leads to an increase in fat storage. A lot of the times these processed foods are empty calories and can bypass our hunger hormone system, tricking us into thinking we are hungry even when we aren’t. .

Medicinal Mushy Soup 🍄⁣⁣

Recipe:⁣⁣
2 red onions⁣⁣
5 carrots ⁣⁣
1 bunch celery⁣⁣
500g mushrooms - I used a combo of shiitake & oyster, but any will work⁣⁣
1.5 litres of vegetable stock ⁣⁣
1 tsp reishi mushroom &/or garlic, cumin, cayenne, whatever herbs + spices you like.⁣⁣

Dice onions, carrots & celery and put into a large pot.⁣⁣
Once onion starts to brown, add vegetable stock.⁣⁣
Simmer for 5-10 minutes, add mushrooms, reishi + spices & simmer for a further 10 minutes.

Transfer to a large blender and puree mixture.⁣⁣
