Getting pregnant with PCOS: How it happened for us on the first try. This post is a loonnggg time coming. 7 months to be exact. I’ve spent a lot of time evaluating my life, reading my notes from doctors and researching through books and I’m finally sharing the 10 things I did to get my body ready and boost fertility. These are obviously great things for PCOS, but are really good hormone balancing tips for anyone TTC and wanting to feel better✨
.
1. Quit hormonal birth control
2. Eat an anti-inflammatory diet
3. Work to heal your gut
4. Manage your blood sugar
5. Reduce stress
6. Find a doctor that believes in your healing
7. Balance your thyroid
8. Enhance diet with supplements
9. Cut out environmental toxins
10. Exercise
.
I’m sharing way more information and tips on each of these things on my site today (it’s a long one😃). My hope isn’t to overwhelm you, but to arm you with information to feel empowered through whatever story you’re walking in❤️.

Our tiny but powerful adrenal glands are incredibly important. 💫

When they’re out of balance, we can experience symptoms like anxiety, difficulty sleeping, or racing thoughts. The symptoms might seem subtle at first, but they can intensify over time.

Our Sleep and Stress test measures cortisol and cortisone, two stress hormones regulated by our adrenal glands. Checking these hormones can not only give you knowledge about your overall health, but it can also help you understand more about your symptoms. (✍️: @drjolenebrighten)

FOODS TO LOWER ESTROGEN✨
-
Estrogen dominance can refer to either elevated estrogen levels or elevated estrogen levels in relation to progesterone, so meaning your estrogen levels may be normal but your progesterone is low and you can experience some of the same symptoms.
-
Conditions associated with estrogen dominance include PMS, PMDD, endometriosis, and fibroids.
-
If there are ways that we can help to naturally balance our estrogen levels then we can help some of the symptoms we’re experiencing, most notably period cramping and pain, among others like breast tenderness, irritability, or mood swings.
-
Certain foods can help with balancing or maintaining healthy estrogen levels.
-
✨Cruciferous veggies like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower (or also arugla, bok choy, cabbage) are sulfurous veggies that help with estrogen detoxification. If we aren’t properly detoxifying estrogen and eliminating it then it can build up in the system.
-
✨Red grapes (and other dark berries like cranberries and blueberries) contain resveratrol, which can help to block estrogen.
-
✨Flaxseeds and sesame seeds contain lignans that help to bind excess estrogen. Pumpkin seeds contain zinc and essential fats that help to boost progesterone (to help balance estrogen / progesterone levels).
-
✨Organic, non-GMO tofu – soy is always controversial when it comes to nutrition and especially hormone balancing. I recommend sticking to whole food sources like organic, non-GMO tofu or edamame or fermented soy like tempeh or miso a couple times per week.
-
✨Soy and flaxseeds contain phytoestrogens, which are like estrogen but MUCH weaker. They attach to estrogen receptors in the body and can have estrogen balancing effects – they can help to raise estrogen levels if they are low (adding to the estrogen pool) or lower estrogen levels if they are high (binding to estrogen sites to blocking estrogen).
-
Opt for organic or grass-fed meat to avoid any possibility of added hormones that can be found in conventionally raised meat.
-
I go over all the ways to balance your hormones for regular, pain-free periods in my new course Heal Your Period – link in bio to save 25%🌻

Over the weekend, a friend of mine called me a “sugar consultant”. 😂⁣
⁣
The reason I’m so passionate about blood sugar is because fixing mine was what changed SO many things for me AND for yearsss I never knew I had issues with it. ⁣
⁣
Imbalanced blood sugar & insulin levels is a ROOT CAUSE of other hormonal imbalances. ⁣
⁣
When I was diagnosed with PCOS years ago, I kept trying to balance my estrogen, progesterone & testosterone levels. ⁣
⁣
What I didn’t realize was that there was an underlying issue with blood sugar and insulin which was causing the imbalance of my sex hormones. ⁣
⁣
Not only did fixing my blood sugar get rid of all of my PCOS symptoms, I also FINALLY stopped craving and wanting carbs & sugar, was able to stop bingeing on carbs, my acne disappeared effortlessly, my periods became regular, I have NO PMS symptoms, and I never get bloated anymore. #winwinwin⁣
⁣
Infertility, estrogen dominance, PCOS, adrenal fatigue... all of these issues can be improved drastically with improvements to blood sugar & insulin. ⁣
⁣
How do you do it?⁣
⁣
Step 1: Eat real food.⁣
Step 2: Lower your carbs & experiment with how many carbs works for you. (Hint: it will always change).⁣
Step 3: Consider keto & fasting. (As a healing protocol, not necessarily a lifelong diet).⁣
Step 4: Stress management, movement/exercise, & high-quality sleep are essential. ⁣

matching sets for days that don’t match {ME}. Yes, I have bad days & feel completely lost.
Yes, I’ve gained weight thanks to a medication I was on & my erratic hormone imbalances. Oh, and I also haven’t had a period in 3yrs.
Yes, I am single & don’t want to be.
Nothing like airing your biggest insecurities to kick off the week, am I right?

Well, here is what I’m doing about it: ✨Believing in myself and continuously putting myself out there ✨trying new workouts, eating plans, and lifestyle changes that support my body and what it needs
✨Learning to adapt & lean into change ✨Letting a la mere be my creative outlet, public journal, inspiration, and reflect whoever/however I’m feeling. “Your future needs you, your past doesn’t” ✌🏼💕

When I was first diagnosed with PCOS I told myself I was going to learn as MUCH as I possibly could about the condition.

I am not going to lie what I found out was pretty shocking, and it made me wonder why such a common condition affecting sooooo many women was rarely spoken about !? 🤷‍♀️. I wanted to condense some of the information I have found throughout my journey into one post, in the hopes that it may help to educate others who have PCOS and also those who don’t.
And also let it be a reminder that PCOS can be managed with the right diet, lifestyle, herbs and supplements 🙌💕 Let’s keep spreading awareness for PCOS and helping to educate and inform ourselves and others #sharethispost 🙌💕🙏 #pcostowellness #cysterhood #pcos #pcoswarrior

I once had a woman come up to me after a Lucy Libido teaching presentation in Washington DC. I was teaching on oils for hormone balance and improving libido. I remember pausing a moment, then going off script, a bit choked up. I said something like “You know... there is a LOT of vitriol out on the Internet. So much that will tell you that you aren’t pretty enough and so much online that will teach shame and confusion within relationships. I am standing in my one small corner of the Internet speaking differently. I am here to tell you that you aren’t broken, you are enough, and that you are beautiful.” I saw a woman stand up. 💗
After the session, this woman approached me. She was clearly emotional. I thought she was approaching me to say thank you or to ask for a photo. Her words caught me off guard. She said
💗
.
.
. “I need to let you know, that I owe you an apology”

An apology? “I almost didn’t come to your session. I almost didn’t come, because without knowing you, I judged you. I judged you wrongly for who you are and what you would teach. And I am sorry.” 💗

This woman was so brave. I hugged her and wept. She reminded me how unfair it is to judge anyone. We do not know what others have been through, why they do the things they do, or where they are on their path of life. We so often assume the worst in others, instead of allowing them to share their story. 💗
May we all remember today, to give others the benefit of the doubt. Love them even when we don’t understand them. Our place is not to judge others, but to LOVE others. 💗

Raise your hand if your Doctor gave you these recommendations when you were diagnosed with PCOS🙋‍♀️.
.
Oh how that advice really didn't help🤦
.
⚠️Whether or not you are looking to conceive, PCOS is a condition that must be addressed as soon as possible to prevent further risk factors like Type 2 Diabetes, heart disease, stroke, endometrial cancer. .
⚠️The Birth Control Pill does not balance your hormones or treat PCOS because it doesn't get to the root cause of the hormone imbalance. 👉Hormones in the brain communicate and control the ovary. The birth control pill works by inhibiting the signals sent by the brain to the ovaries resulting in ovarian dysfunction, causing changes in females natural reproductive functions.
While on the pill, the brain receives a message indicating to the endocrine glands that no hormones need to be produced because of the synthetic hormones found in the pill. So the brain does not release hormones to signal to the ovaries to produce hormones and an egg is not released.
.
⚠️Weight loss does not get to the root cause of PCOS.
👉But also telling a woman with PCOS to 'just lose weight' isn't helpful especially if she is trying everything possible to do that. Weight loss is different for women with PCOS and hormonal imbalances.
👉You need to work with your body.
Weight gain and difficulty losing weight is a symptom of PCOS. All symptoms arise for reason. The hormone imbalance must be addressed first. When your hormones are balanced, weight loss will come. .
Be your own health advocate! Keep asking questions. Keep searching for the answers you need to reverse your PCOS.💛

Hello everyone! I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Marisa and I am the vaginal steam facilitator behind Marisa Womb Wisdom.

I am a yoga teacher, photographer and mama to two feisty girls that loves everything related to the womb and female empowerment. I’m of Zambian and British decent and have spent equal time living in both places. For the past 6 years I have been living with my husband and our two daughters in Turks & Caicos.

Since my period first began at 13 it has been heavy, painful and filled with so much shame and secrecy. About 10 years ago when the pain grew so intense that only codeine based pain killers were getting me through the day, I was so grateful when my yoga teacher introduced me to a world of period wisdom that started to shift my awareness, beliefs and experience.
Through a combination of proper period care, an awareness of the moon as well as the various phases of the menstrual cycle, more introspection around my bleed and better nutrition awareness, things started to shift for me and I was able to welcome my moon time and ditch all pain killers.
4 years ago an ovarian cyst was detected on my ultrasound with my second daughter and when it showed no signs of disappearing after 3 years I started looking for an alternative way of healing that embraced mind body medicine and didn’t involve laproscopic surgical removal. Through the powers of Instagram I discovered vaginal steaming and I have loved experimenting with this ancient practice on myself. I became so fascinated with it that I trained as a vaginal steam facilitator and am now working towards qualifying as a peristeam hydrotherapist. I’m still a work in progress with healing my cyst and the changes each month in my cycle keep me optimistic!

I would love the opportunity to work with you and explore how vaginal steaming as well as my understanding of mind body medicine can help change your vaginal health.

I just finished mowing the lawn. And it’s cause for celebration! I actually really enjoy mowing the lawn, being outside, playing in the grass and garden. But not that long ago, I couldn’t. I didn’t have the energy and my back was shot. I was so sick. Depleted. Exhausted. Fried. I gained a shot tonne of weight. I felt revolting. And while I haven’t shed the weight, I can mow the lawn!! And this is after being up at 5.15am to go rowing! So what changed? A shit tonne! I got rid of a heck load of toxic energy that was around me!! I started saying yes to things that only felt like true yesses. I made friends with my anxiety feelings and stress responses. I broke open some shame patterns. I made friends with humans willing to do the inner work and support me to do mine. I aligned with activities that feel amazing to me. Like writing. And learning and teaching. I created things I loved and love. I am building momentum to help other helper people. I used my voice and said no when things didn’t vibe. I speak up when I experience shit treatment. I own my own shit behaviour. I dealt with and continue to deal with my inner arsehole talk. I tow boats. I sing in a choir. I read and listen to uplifting content. I give myself permission to change my mind. I sleep in when I can and I make an effort to drink more water. I allow myself to f*ck up, because I’d rather have a go than not. I drink celery juice (changed everything). I have the deepest gratitude for my family and friends...whether they are close geographically or far. I AM COMPLETE! #gratitude #rest #share #grow #align #yes #no #onwards #wellness #celeryjuice #medicalmedium #plants #hormonebalance #stressmanagement #journey #connection #heartswell #sayno #nomeansno #sayyes #personalgrowth

Since today my BLOG post is about foods to help promote healthy hormones in the body, I thought I would whip up tasty lunch for myself and share. Greens greens and more greens are soooooo beneficial for healthy hormones for more reasons than one. Firstly, they contain an abundance of vitamins and minerals that are great for general health and well-being. Secondly, they support the body in healthy metabolism of oestrogen in the body so it can process and eliminate the excess. Thirdly, their fibre rich content provides prebiotics to keep your microbiome balance just right within the colon. More fibre means healthier bowel movements, which means healthy elimination of excess oestrogen and testosterone build up in the body.

Today I am having - rocket leaves, fresh parsley, green beans, 1/2 an avocado, 3 eggs topped with pepitas and sunflower seeds.

Simple, tasty and nutritious!

Luteinizing Hormone is produced in the brain and is crucial in the optimal functioning of the ovaries. The hormone is produced when the hypothalamus (a region in the brain) secretes gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). This GnRH stimulates the pituitary gland (another region in the brain) to release luteinizing hormone (LH) as well as follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).
.
Women should have an equal amount of LH and FSH (a ratio of 1:1). But luteinizing hormone may be high in some women with PCOS. Some women with PCOS produce twice as much (or more) LH at a ratio of 2:1.
.
The high LH is what can cause the excess production of testosterone and PCOS symptoms. .
But luteinizing hormone can be lowered. .
In my latest blog post, you can find out why luteinizing hormone is high in women with PCOS. Learn what causes elevated levels in women with PCOS and what you can do to lower it naturally. 👉Link in my Bio

Is your shampoo making you gain weight?!⁣
⁣
First it’s calories, then it’s hormones, then it’s gut health...now it’s my shampoo?!⁣
⁣
You count every calorie that passes your lips, but your weight won’t budge…⁣
⁣
Managing your weight isn’t only about calories in vs calories out!⁣
⁣
Enter obesogens. Chemicals that disrupt HOW your body creates and stores fat - found in shampoo, toothpaste, grocery store receipts, shower curtains, makeup, perfume, and so. much. more. ⁣
⁣
Even though you eat healthy and exercise every day, you still might battle the scale because of your SHAMPOO.⁣
⁣
Mice studies have shown that two mice can be given the same exact diet and have the same activity level, but the mouse who was exposed to an obesogenic chemical continued to gain lots of weight throughout its life, while the unexposed mouse remained thin.⁣
⁣
In The Gut Rehab Blueprint, I have an entire module that dives deeper into obesogens and teaches my clients how to avoid them, but I want to share some quick tips with you:⁣
⁣
AVOID ANTIBACTERIALS⁣
Your skin has a microbiome, too! Just as you don’t want to disrupt your gut microbiome, you don’t want to disrupt your skin microbiome either. Fun fact: Triclosan and triclocarban (antimicrobials) were banned from hand and body soaps by the FDA because they seem to have the potential to disrupt how well the thyroid works...but they’re still in toothpaste, mouthwash, face wash, dish soap, deodorant, and makeup!⁣
⁣
AVOID THE WORD “FRAGRANCE”⁣
The components of a “fragrance” don’t need to be disclosed, so you cannot know what chemicals are in there.⁣
⁣
AVOID MSG⁣
Manufacturers know “MSG” has become a scary word, so they’ve started using other words for it - hydrolyzed protein, glutamic acid, yeast extract, and autolyzed yeast.⁣
⁣
STOP USING PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES⁣
Even if it’s BPA-free! BPA-free doesn’t mean obesogen-free. Often, the BPA alternatives are just as bad, if not worse. Stick to glass or stainless steel.⁣
⁣
Was this shocking to you? Did you know that your makeup and shampoo could be one of the culprits behind your stubborn weight??⁣ 👇

Taking the time to learn about things that interest YOU & nourish YOUR brain are important!! Tonight I attended a presentation on natural approaches to hormone balancing. Let's just say we could ALL use various tests & therapies to some degree! If you don't see a chiropractor I highly suggest you do! Start there & poke around an herb shop, NOT pharmacy isles or synthetic based supplements. #favoritefilter #grow #learn #evolve #selfcare #hormonebalance #chiropractic #wellness #naturalsolutions #onelife

Love it when mummas touch base and let me know how much Her Prenatal is helping them!
It is an honour to share and support such a unique and monumemtal journey with every single one of you! 🌸🤰💕
@jacqui.bem.11 and her gorgeous baby bump started using Her Prenatal during her 2nd trimester after struggling with multiple other supplements, extreme nausea, hormonal inbalance and fatigue. 👇
"Babies growing strong 😊 30 wks!
Hey hun just wanted to let you know that I reckon I’ve felt the best now than the whole pregnancy from avow so thank you xx" "This is my first pregnancy and I was not aware of how much pregnancy would actually take out of me as previous to falling pregnant I was very fit and healthy.
I went on to the elivit tablets which really upset my stomach and therefore just didn't take anything except folic acid. The first 4 months of pregnancy I felt terrible (although blessed) I felt like I had no life in me and suffered nausea and became very emotional. I then tried some other prenatals and got past the nausea and felt slightly better.

Then I was introduced to avow, it changed everything for me, it bought me back to life, balanced out my hormones and took away some extremely bothering pregnancy symptoms. It also has everything all in one so I no longer need multiple things from the chemist like probiotics, fibre, protein just to name a few. It has all the vitamins and minerals needed for our bodies to grow a healthy baby while feeling good at the same time.

I'm huge on health and needing to know what I put in my body and the fact that avow is all naturally derived gives me that peace of mind. I will use avow throughout my breastfeeding and next pregnancy and couldn't recommend it highly enough to mothers trying to conceive, pregnant or breastfeeding."
🙌
This story touches my heart as it is so much like my own, the one that lead me to creating Her Prenatal.

If your over trying to swallow awful synthetic tablets, but want to ensure you and bubs are getting all the essential nutrients for healthy growth, development and wellbeing.

Check out Her Prenatal.

All natural, wholefood, organic, premium nutrition.

From my heart and soul, to yours.

Postpartum was hard. Breastfeeding was hard. Waking up and getting out of bed every day was hard. The entire first year of Nora’s life ... was hard.

For a long time I didn’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. I thought that these dark feelings and negative emotions were just my new permanent reality.

Everything changed in June. I found a natural option that didn’t come with other negative side effects and brought me back to feeling human again. It was a route I didn’t think was possible and I am so so thankful I found it. Healing, stability, joy... all of it.

I was so afraid of the thought of walking through that season again someday- but now I know I have the tools to keep me afloat next time and for that I will be forever grateful.

"I’ve always enjoyed eating Whole foods but portion control has always been a challenge for me. Through this program I have learned how to listen to my body and feed it when it’s hungry, and not every time that “mouth hunger” strikes. I’ve also added a lot of foods to my diet that I didn’t know how to prepare before, improved my energy and digestion as well as lost 7 lbs." ~ Betty Studzinski, Life-Changing Cooking Program Member

TESTIMONIAL TUESDAY | “I’ve been working with this lovely lady for about 6 months now and it’s been a COMPLETE game changer.

Ever since I was 17 years old I have dealt with debilitating cramps due to my menstrual cycle. On day one of my periods, I would have to cancel work visits and stay laying down in the fetal position due to the pain; It’s not a fun experience and this would happen EVERY month.

Fast forward to 25 years old and trying every diet in the book...when I met Nichol through our CrossFit gym and she became a close friend in my life. She began studying women’s health and sharing her knowledge with others. She would post on IG and FB about painful periods being abnormal. I couldn’t agree more and was nervous that my abnormal periods would be the cause of infertility or other health issues in the future, so I wanted to work with her.

LET ME PREACH SOMETHING FOR A MINUTE...getting the information Nichol gave me didn’t only save me the painful days every month but now I truly understand my body.

She made it super simple too. We would have hour long sessions that included mind blowing information about tracking your monthly cycle appropriately. She would also recommend the proper products and where to buy them. I’d also receive an email with all the information we talked about and some goals to set until our next meeting. It was so simple to change my menstrual cycle with how she structured our meetings.

Not only have her protocols caused me to EAT MORE and MAINTAIN my weight, but it’s caused me to understand my “mood swings” and embrace them. When I started to understand that certain times of the month caused you to be more cheerful then others, or more drowsy then others, I was able to finally allow myself to rest. I not only began to rest more physically but mentally.

Ladies! If you have struggled with painful/abnormal periods or you’re tired of being called “crazy,” it’s time to work with Nichol.

I can say that I no longer take 1600 mg of ibuprofen on day one of my period anymore and I am almost completely asymptomatic, but now I am also confident in my moods. I can stop second guessing myself, that in itself is BEAUTIFUL.” - SJ

Losing it in a good way...The best way to drop sugar is to eat hormone balancing foods like dates and walnuts. And the best support you get for doing that, even if you're a crazy sugar addict with an over-sized sweet tooth is to eat more fiber, more good plant-based fats, and for a little sweet treat—high in fiber dates. I love these sweet bite sized wonders and they are sure to make an almost “sugar free" challenge a walk in the park. Recipe as shown: pitted dates and raw walnuts. Enjoy! #healthyrecipes #highfiberfoods #sugarfreelife #pitteddates #hormonebalance

Dealing with Dementors. ∞
I remember I was around 5 the first time I had a bout of what I now call "Dementor Depression". These visitations last anywhere from 30 seconds to a few hours, but the feel just like a dementor encounter in the Harry Potter universe is described; Soul sucking, like nothing will ever be good again.
Have you ever had a dementor experience? ∞
Until recently, I had gone quite some time without a visit from the dementors, possibly years. Then all of the sudden, these soul sucking moments start happening regularly, sometimes even several times a day. It's taken years of regular work on my part to not personalize or internalize these moments, but to simply ride them out and keep a little more orange juice & chocolate on hand than usual. ∞
When this started happening, I didn't start taking them seriously until it was a pattern. It happens a few times in a week, meh. It happens a few times a day for a few weeks....something is off. Thankfully, what was off become readily clear. My cycle which is always regular with bleeding at the Full Moon in Summer and New Moon in Winter. (May seem complicated to you, but my and my uterus know whats up). Anyway, my cycle was off. I bled 2 times in one month and had PMS symptoms I hadn't had in years. ∞
What a relief! I was out rhythm and it was causing multiple symptoms. (tbh, all of this was stress related because I wasn't taking care of myself at the level I needed to be). Once I realized my hormones were off track I began a nightly hot cocoa with Shatavari , Ashwaganda, and Maca powder to re-balance my hormones. I picked those herbs in part because of their ability to rebalance hormones and because I already had them on hand. Why the hot cocoa? Because it's delicious. ∞
Within a week, I felt back to myself and my symptoms started subsiding. Let me clear when I say these bouts of depression were hard. They sucked up a lot of my vitality and I did have to deal with a lot of fear around not being able to find balance again. Learning to silence the voice that said this was not/could not get better. Want to talk about herbal self-care, depression, or bleeding with the moon slide in my DMs.

It could be that you are living with a stomach that is routinely short on stomach acid. Having an acid stomach supports the digestion of proteins and minerals into the body supporting tissue health and our thyroid and adrenal glands.
In my role as a coach it is my job to find easy and delicious solutions for my clients with low stomach acid...enter switchel.
This easy to make drink provides acid for a balanced stomach, electrolytes and hydration and a boost for our microbiome.

☕ Are you a caffeine junkie?
I have a confession, I am 110% a coffee junkie! There is nothing more satisfying and soul nourishing as an almond cap! 🤤

I think most of you can agree that coffee and caffeine stimulants are on the rise in this hustle and grind lifestyle. We are tired and busy and use coffee as a quick, grab and go... even a meal replacement on some days #guilty

In Chinese medicine, coffee and stimulants consumes the Kidney Yang and Qi, along with depleting the Kidney Yin. Think of it as a bank loan in terms of energy, you borrow from your future energy stores. From another perspective, coffee stimulates your adrenal glands in which we aliken to the Kidney Yang and Kidney Yin in Chinese medicine. Your adrenal glands are responsible for releasing hormones that signal your body to go into fight or flight mode. Over working, physical and emotional stress and over consumption of coffee can exaust the adrenals, resulting in what is known as adrenal fatigue.

HEALTHFUL TIPS: Rules to Healthy Coffee Consumption!

1. Do not wake yourself up with coffee. A lot of people use coffee as their little alarm clock. Wait until your body has woken up naturally with it's own hormones before having your morning cup.
2. If you eat breakfast, have your coffee after your breakfast, this is a little more kind on your Stomach and Spleen Qi.
3. Do not exceed 2 cups coffee a day and preferably have them before 1pm.
4. Avoid adding excess sugar, syrups ect.
5. If you are an avid coffee drinker like myself, slowly cut back on the amount you're drinking, swap out one coffee for green tea or black tea, yes these still contain caffeine but not nearly as much. As your withdrawals subside you can continue to reduce your consumption.

Did you know we (women👭) have six main hormones??! (Brothers, pay attention to #3 and down, please💪🏼)
1️⃣ estrogen
2️⃣ progesterone
3️⃣ testosterone
4️⃣ cortisol (stress hormone)
5️⃣ thyroid (metabolism hormone)
6️⃣ insulin (blood sugar hormone)
.

AHH!!! I love that INSULIN is the hormone that controls and/or directly affects ALL the other hormones. It’s often called the “master hormone” 👉🏼👉🏼Sooooo when my blood sugar levels are out of balance, ALL my other hormones get messed up, too!😬
.

Insulin is what transports glucose+fuel to every cell in your body! It has the most important job of all the hormones!👊🏼 👊🏼👊🏼 Without fuel we can't function properly — like way down at the cellular level! 🦠 .

Friends, it’s just the way our bodies WORK —
Insulin efficiency is IMPERATIVE for optimal health and mood!🤸🏻‍♀️
.

THIS is why blood sugar balance and support are so important, and THAT is WHYYYY I have been drinkin our pink every. single. day. for over 3 1/2 YEARSSSS 👉🏼to balance my glucose levels.
It affects EVERYTHING!!❤️

2 “Testosterone’s only role in women is sex drive and libido.” Although we don’t see what’s wrong with helping to improve someone’s sex drive and libido, as you can see above, testosterone in women is connected to much more than her sex drive. Low testosterone has even been shown to increase irritability, anxiety, depression, night sweats, joint pains, and weight gain, especially across the mid-section (belly fat).

Understanding OVULATION💫
•
Ovulation is the official release of the egg from the ovary.🙌 On average, ovulation occurs around day 14 of your cycle. The rise in estradiol that happens during week 2 of your cycle (follicular phase) stimulates the brain (pituitary gland) to release hormones called LH and FSH. When your ovary senses the spike in LH, or luteinizing hormone, it knows it’s time. This process takes between 24-36 hours after the initial LH surge, and will then finish with the oocyte (egg cell) release. 📈
•
Ovulation is the time period of your cycle when you’re able to conceive. There is a very specific window that you should have sex if you’re looking to get pregnant. If you’re using OPK test strips, these are very helpful as they are measuring the LH spike. These tests will be able to tell you when the brain is releasing LH, which is about 24-36 hours before the egg is released. The highest percentage of conception happens the day before, and on the day the egg is released. BUT you can still conceive if you have sex as far as 5 days before ovulation-as healthy cervical mucus can allow sperm to live for up to 5 days! Pretty amazing if you ask me!😉
•
So take home message here for those looking to get pregnant...grab some OPK tests and learn how to evaluate your cervical mucus. (I did a long post on cervical mucus a few weeks ago, but can review the take home points on this also). If you are able to get a positive OPK test, you should make it a goal of having sex within the next 24 hours to have the best chance at fertilization. ⏳
•
Hope this helps some of you understand what is truly happening during the different phases of your cycle. As knowledge is power...and when you arm a woman with knowledge, she’s unstoppable. 🙌😘

Fall AF dinner over here 💁🏻‍♀️
.
This is pre-oven because it’s dark now and the lighting isn’t good for a photo 🤷🏻‍♀️ but trust and believe that chicken skin is crispay and those veggies are tender. Here’s the recipe:
.
INGREDIENTS:
🍁 Bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs and drumsticks
🍁 Brussel sprouts, trimmed and halved
🍁 2 delicate squash, halved then cut into half moons. Skin stays on!
🍁 3 beets, peeled and cut into chunks
🍁 A few baby potatoes because I had them
.
DIRECTIONS:
🍂 Prepare and cut all veggies. Add to baking sheet and toss with olive oil, avocado oil, or melted coconut oil or ghee. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
🍂 Lay chicken pieces over top of veggies. Pat skin dry with a paper towel. Then drizzle with oil and season with salt and pepper.
🍂 Chop fresh rosemary, sage, and thyme and sprinkle overtop.
🍂 Bake at 450 for 40 mins or until chicken skin is crispy and cooked through and veggies are tender
