I am not genetically very flexible ~ or Hypermobile and definitely don’t flop into stretches or poses. Sometimes I wish I could 😅although Hypermobility leads to joint laxity and instability , which over time leads to pain, joint damage and injury. Pilates improves your strength of these very important stabilizers which support functional range of movement.  Your awareness is fined tuned, so when you go to YOUR end ranges think about how much you are training your proximal stability to achieve distal mobility.  Using the #pilatesring allows for some assist and resist in the stretch.  We should try to balance active and passive range of movement.  Using strength and flexibility together is what leads to greater mobility. Alterations in alignment cause faulty movement patterns and will disturb disturb specific functional movement patterns and decrease neuromuscular efficiency. Muscle tightness is a form of protection in the body and is secondary to muscle weakness.  If a muscle remains stuck in a tight or shortened position, it changes the ability of that muscles to effectively produce or reduce force which could lead to altered joint range of movement . So you can stretch and strengthen all you want, but perhaps consider first bringing awareness to your daily habits and compensation pattens. Make the shift there first ⚠️

Today is a recovery day but since I know odds are I'll miss a day here or there I'm going to double up! #freestyleflow and #litcardio 😁 I'm definitely going to need #energize to get me through it! I honestly never thought I would ever look forward to working out let alone have a double day without being forced. I used to avoid exercising at all costs and skip school just so I wouldn't have to go to gym class. When I had a personal trainer I liked going because it was fun and I went with my husband but HATED it. Now I know its because it wasn't the program for me and counting carbs sucks. I'm  so happy I found #beachbody .

💡Have you lost your patient on your fitness journey? Well, if I’m being honest with you, I had! .
I’ve been working out for almost 2 years, and I do see a big difference between now and then. But, I want more toned arms, shoulders, leaner waist, bigger quads and a rounder booty! Seeing myself in the mirror every day makes me have lost the patient for a while. I mean, I didn’t see anything different at all.

However, when I put the picture now and the ones from a little bit before, I’ll definitely notice the difference!

What I want to say is that maybe you think your body hasn’t change for a long time, or it doesn’t look as you expected, so you might lose patient or end up doing more workouts more often because you want a “better” result quicker! Don’t be, and don’t do like that!

Consistency is the 🔑! Your body needs a good routine to get better! Don’t rush it, because it’ll damage your muscle and hurt yourself. ALSO!!!!! PLEASE DO NOT GIVE UP!!! Take some pics once in a while, and put them together when you think you’ve lost patient, and you’ll know what I’m saying! .

** Upper body workout ** .
I’ve had a few people ask me for a dumbbell only upper body workout that can be done at home or the gym. So here you go! .

I used 10 lb dumbbells to demonstrate all of these movements for you. This is not the weight I would use when actually doing the workout. Depending on your strength your weight will vary per exercise. Remember if you are doing 10 reps of an exercise it should burn on rep 7 and reps 8-10 should be really hard. Most women I see at the gym do not lift heavy enough and then don’t understand why they aren’t seeing changes. When I’m doing reps 8-10 I can’t talk and I’m forced to breathe because it’s that challenging. I’m not talking about being tired or winded I mean it’s hard to move the weight. Sometimes I even pause for a second in between those last few reps. Push yourself!! Obviously only using correct form. If you have to use momentum you are too heavy. Also don’t forget to breathe. You should be exhaling on the hardest part of the movement. You get an awesome core workout by just breathing correctly. .

You can do this workout two ways: 
1. Do 10 reps of each exercise. Complete 3 rounds. 
2. Do 10 reps 3 sets of the first exercise. Then move onto the next exercise. 10 reps 3 sets etc. 
Remember to rest for 60 seconds in between each exercise. .

Si tu passes beaucoup de temps assis au travail, tu pourrais avoir du mal à tenir cette position qui paraît pourtant simple à faire! Tout le monde a besoin de posture telle que celle-là et voici pourquoi: presque tout le monde utilise un téléphone portable, un ordinateur, un livre ou prend les transports en commun! Observe la posture des personnes qui font ces activités et tu comprendras où je veux en venir! 😩
L’arrière cuisse est constamment contracté, les fléchisseurs de hanche aussi et le buste penché en avant s’arrondit sous l’effet de la gravité 🤷🏽‍♂️
Essaye de faire cet exercice régulièrement: allonge bien tes jambes, mets les pointes de pieds vers ton visage! Agrandis toi à fond comme pour toucher le plafond avec le sommet de ton crâne! Tends bien les bras devant toi et garde les omoplates serrées entre elles! Effet garanti, à toi de jouer 😏

Tabata is a hiit routine that consists of 8 sets of fast-paced exercises each performed for 20 seconds with a short rest of 10 seconds, followed by a 1 minute recovery upon finishing the 8 sets💥 Sr = skip rope | jj = jumping jacks 
1 no = 1 x 5min Tabata round (alternating between the 2 exercises). Tt - 45min ** switch between sides throughout the set I.e (sr, left side, sr, right side, sr, left side, sr, right side)

Here’s my core workout from Wednesday! I completed this at the end of my lower body workout.

I find when working core I get bored easily so on this circuit I’ve kept the reps quite low on many of the exercises to keep some variation and motivation!! 💪🏻

1️⃣Crunch x10

2️⃣Sit up twist x10 .
3️⃣Flutter kicks x20
.
4️⃣Bicycles x10 .
5️⃣Heel taps x 20
.
6️⃣Ab extension x10 .
7️⃣High plank alternate arm&leg raises x10 .
💥Repeat circuit 2-3 times! 💥

Ok..so maybe I need to be more specific in my answer. I have been doing “intentional movement” everyday since coming home from the hospital. Pelvic floor work, gentle core breathing, and just this past week I started simple core work like this on the floor. By no means is this pumping iron or running a mile, it’s restorative. It feels AMAZING. There is zero bleeding (great indicator when you are doing too much). You do you!

I especially like this exercise postpartum because of the thoracic extension. A new mom’s dream after constantly leaning forward over baby!

I headed to the basement, turned on my favorite Christmas tunes and mapped out my workout as I went. 
Of course I stopped to make breakfast, clean up dog vomit and get Laila a towel bc her doll got into the aquafor “all by herself” 🙄... BUT...I still feel so much better and suddenly today’s to-do list doesn’t seem quite as daunting! 🙌🏼 I’ll share my full workout on my stories if you’re interested in screenshotting it! 📸
