If you need a bit of a confidence booster in the gym, then I’m going to highly recommend doing some barbell hip thrusts! You can stack on a ton of weight with this exercise and it’s gonna make you feel strong and like a badass 💪🏼
I’ve literally got all the weight available to me on the bar for an almost double body weight lift.

Try to incorporate this into your workout at least once a week! This exercise is really good for your glutes when done properly so here’s a few tips;
✅ Don’t over extend your back at the top, just go to where your body is flat but not arched
✅ Squeeze your butt as tight as you can at the top and hold for a second
✅ Keep your ribs flat to your body, no glaring upwards
✅ Chin tucked to the chest, not looking up at the ceiling, this will help with the ribs and arching (mentioned above)
✅ Use a good amount of padding 😆

I'm not going to lie, getting off the couch today was hard. It's 54°F here in Florida, so basically I'm just a breathing ice cube🤣 I would skip so many workouts in the past living in SD & UT because I didn't want to go outside in the freezing cold or drive to the gym. My commute to the "gym" now is down about 20 stairs, so there's no reason why I can't do my workout. ⁣
⁣
I workout to destress & just overall feel better about myself. Daily physical movement to me is like eating breakfast.. I just NEED IT♡ Today it lifted my blah mood AND warmed me upppppp. I would most definitely turn on the heater if someoneee would let me.. because 70° in here is too cold. ⁣

I had our daughter snap this picture of me after my ride and I almost didn’t post it because the first thing I noticed was how chunky my arms were. Body dysmorphia is REAL and I’m working on it every single day. I’ve come a long way since starting on this self love journey and I only look back to see how far I’ve come. So today I’m choosing to see the progress I’ve made, the hundreds of miles I’ve cycled and how much healthier I am now. 
This #75hard challenge is such a mental workout for me. Letting go of some tough stuff is not easy. But, every single day I am making progress🙏🏽

Spent the morning re-organizing the gym. Not only do I hate having things on the floor, but with only about 300sq ft of space I have to be really smart on how things are organized and laid out.

In this little space I have enough room for a full squat rack, suspension cables, a cable crossover system, a treadmill, assault bike, 12/14/16 box, 20/24/30 box, battle ropes, incline/decline/flat bench with leg attachment, sledge hammer, hex bar, 2 oly bars, ez curl bar, kettlebells up to 45lbs, 400lbs of oly plates, up to 50lbs of medicine balls, up to 90lbs dumbbells (up to 35lbs as individual sets and the rest via  powerblocks), various cable attachments, bands, a double end bag, mitts,  heavy bag (banana bag), various balance devices, recovery devices, hurdles, agility ladder, cones/spots, and a ton of other things to aid in workouts and safety. The best part is everything is usable and very quick to set up for every kind of workout.

It may be a small space but it’s unbelievably functional and when programmed right, I can have 3 people work out at once. .

Is fasted cardio your secret weapon for weight loss?

Not to fast !! Let’s dive into this topic before you decide if it’s good for you or not 
The theory is that doing fasted cardio on an empty stomach was the best way to burn body fat

Some of the pros of fasted cardio - burns more body fat than performing the same cardio session in a fed state - avoiding an upset stomach due to not having any food in your belly

The biggest con is your training intensity is compromised due to not having any fuel in your system. If you want to train at a high intensity , training fasted is not the way

I regularly train on an empty stomach as it’s the only time I can train is first thing in the morning. My intensity level is definitely zapped but I do get a workout in and it works for me

The theory is that doing fasted cardio on an empty stomach was the best way to burn body fat

Some of the pros of fasted cardio - burns more body fat than performing the same cardio session in a fed state - avoiding an upset stomach due to not having any food in your belly

The biggest con is your training intensity is compromised due to not having any fuel in your system. If you want to train at a high intensity , training fasted is not the way

I regularly train on an empty stomach as it’s the only time I can train is first thing in the morning. My intensity level is definitely zapped but I do get a workout in and it works for me

Let's talk about stress!! Most of us have come to accept stress as an everyday part of life. 
We stress about bills, schedules, work, school, kids, parents, family, holidays, but most of all we stress about ourselves. 
Did I do that right?
Should I have done something different?
Will I be good enough?
Am I giving enough?
Am I showing enough love?
Did I make the right decision?

Stress is stressful on the mind and on the body!! It can cause you tonloose sleep, increase your heart rate and blood pressure, give you stomach aches, fog your head, and even cause you to gain weight!

What if, at the end of the day, you had a way for that to all float away? To clear your head and let your body sink into a state of relaxation?

For me, that's what happens during my "me" time in the day. No, not at first, but once I got into a routine. During my workout I watch my head clear and my body fuel up. After, I feel refreshed and calmer. I sleep well and wake up the next day ready to take it on.

This right here hits home for me because I struggle so much since gaining weight after my last bikini competition. Plans were to maintain a healthy weight because stage lean is just not maintainable. My stage weight for competition was 128 and plans were to maintain 135. Well that didn’t happen. Went camping and from traveling and not getting enough water my body went haywire and I blew up like a balloon. Then I got serious post show blues and dealt with that with emotional eating 🤦🏻‍♀️ so here we are 30lbs heavier then I’d like to be. I’m trying really hard not to dislike my body but some days are harder than others but I still try to.

La vie va parfois trop vite... L’importance de s’arrêter et prendre le temps de s’écouter, prendre le temps d’être soi-même !!! Ce soir ma vie va trop vite, dans le dernier mois j’ai eu que de beaux changements dans ma vie et j’ai juste eu besoin de m’assoir et regarder autour de moi, arrêtez tout ce que je fessait et me dire ... c’est pas grave si c’est pas parfait maddy, prend du temps pour toi ☺️ Tout les matins sont chargés, les enfants la routine, les repas, le ménage et les activités etc donc il suffit que je trouve un petit 20 minutes à chaque matin pour me sentir bien mentalement et physiquement et ça je le trouve dans mon entraînement. Quand je m’entraîne tout est parfait selon moi !!! Alors Un petit boost d’énergie en ce dimanche 🥰

Sunday vibes

The first day of the week is always a challenge for me to get a workout in. 
My family is home and often times we either have yard work/house projects or errands to run. There’s extra people running through my office where I normally workout and our dogs are extra excited to have all members home. 
It’s a really really big challenge for me. 
I also want to cave and eat whatever everyone else is eating. 
It’s a challenge to be the one person in the house who has health & fitness goals and who sets them as very high on the priority list each day. This isn’t a put down to my loved ones. This is important to me and everyone is on their own journey. Their choices belong to them. I need to respect that. 
I have to remember and actively set healthy boundaries with myself and my loved ones. Be an example but don’t put down, don’t try to persuade, guilt or control what others are doing. (It’s so human to want to do this in all aspects of life. 😏) My goal is to be the healthiest version of myself. Inside and out. Encourage and take people along on the journey. Not drag people along. 😉

Anywho... Sunday’s are a struggle for me. I think I had 3 different pets come say hi while I got it done. 🤪

Anyone else struggle with a particular day of the week? 
Anyone else wish their friend or partner wanted to get fit with you too? Kids?? Or perhaps join you in your hobbies of choice?

Nothing better than a giant warm bowl of spaghetti am i right?🍝
My family ate spaghetti like 5 nights out of the week growing up! Shoutout to my dad, the best spaghetti maker ever!
Of course I make it a little different now since we used to eat it with beef🙅🏻‍♀️ but I still enjoy it just as much as I used to!
Instead, I now either add in:
✨lentils
✨homemade veg “meat”balls
✨vegan meat alternative
✨chopped or spiralized zucchini
✨spinach
My favorite (and quickest) way to make some good ol spag is to cook up some noods (i 💗 every kind of noodle, you just can’t go wrong), make your add in of choice then pour in a jar of store bought sauce! Try to buy a sauce made with whole ingredients, not the ones with nasties🌱, and get one with herbs and spices!!
That’s it! One of my favorite go to meals🤩✨

I find if I don’t workout in the morning, I’m less likely to do it in the afternoon. I also don’t enjoy afternoon sessions as much! 
People always ask if its better to workout in the AM or PM, the best time to workout is when it suits you! As long as you’re in a calorie deficit, working out for at least 30mins a day and choosing nutritious foods over junk, then you WILL see results 💪
