Zuppa Toscana Soup is one of my most popular soup recipes, have you tried it yet? It’s packed with slices of tender russet potatoes, flavorful Italian sausage and bacon, fresh kale and a rich and creamy broth. So much comforting flavor in one bowl of soup!

Serves: 6
INGREDIENTS:
2 tsp olive oil
1 lb Italian Sausage (casings removed if necessary)
4 oz bacon (about 4 slices), diced into small pieces*
1 cup chopped yellow onion (about 1 small onion)
3 (14.5 oz) cans low-sodium chicken broth
2 cups water
1 1/2 lbs Russet potatoes, scrubbed and rinsed then sliced into halves, halves diced into 1/6-inch slices
1 1/2 tsp granulated sugar
1/2 tsp fennel seeds, crushed (optional)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 cups half and half
1 1/2 cups packed chopped kale
Finely shredded Romano cheese for serving, optional

It🐛takes🐛time🦋✨let me remind you guys - I walked daily for the first 7 months post baby, and phased in workouts after that. I transitioned back to paleo about 10 months postpartum. I’ve completed 85 weeks of BBG, 24 weeks of BBG Stronger & 11 weeks of PWR at Home...and have repeated plenty of those weeks in between because I either missed a workout (or a whole week) or felt I wasn’t ready to move on yet. -

My point is: be patient with yourselves & focus on daily consistency. Not just in fitness but also in life. When looking to others for inspiration, do so to know it’s possible but not to use them as your measuring stick. I think a lot of us love fitness transformation photos because we can SEE the progress, but don’t forget to reflect on how far you’ve come in all areas of your life...not just what you can see in photos. Because even in a photo - you can’t see (or don’t always remember) all the tiny daily steps it took to get there, and THAT is where the magic happens ♥️✨

It’s crazy to me how 4 months ago, my whole life was consumed by instagram. I was so consumed in what others were thinking about me. I was basing my happiness off of the number of comments or likes I got, and I based my value off of the opinions of others. I was constantly spending any time I had to be on social media. I would spend a lot of time creating content to inspire others and educate them but not ultimately make myself happy because I felt like I was doing more of a chore. Yes, I have a decent following, but I was feeling helpless and worthless. It was almost like it was making me more depressed than anything. ⠀

I’ve obviously been less active lately. Actually the last three months, I took a step back, and really evaluated what my priorities were. I realized something was missing, & that was me. I was so caught up in social media and this highlight reel of others, that I forgot to take care of myself, focus on myself and to love myself. ⠀

BUT HEY. I’m still grinding away & putting in the work. But I’m doing it for me, because I want to. Not because I feel like I have to prove to others that I’m “fit” or another one of those girls that “lift”. It feels damn good to put myself first & focus on me. ⠀

Staying gentle on ourselves and not putting ourselves in the tiny boxes we want so desperately to fit in.⠀

Indulge moderately and enjoy ALL the juicy goodness of life. Including CAKE. Jah feel me?! 🙌🏼🌸😉⠀

Not only will your soul be full, but your body, hormones, digestion will all benefit from relaxing and unwinding more. 😉⠀

🔘Sedentary.
🔘Light Exercise.
🔘Moderate Exercise.
🔘Heavy Exercise.
🔘Athlete.

Now, do you also find yourself often saying things like “for the amount of training I do, I should be ripped!” Or “I eat like a bird, how can this actually be?!”.
.
The fact of the matter is - the TRUTH fckn hurts. The 45min you spend busting your balls in the gym compared to the other 7-9 hours sitting on your ass working in front of the computer, scrolling through insta, or watching Netflix laying down on the couch with your Tupperware of meal prep propped up on your chest with fork in hand does not justify or qualify you as a very active person.
.
Surprisingly enough, most “highly active” people are actually “couch potatoes”. Research shows that the average person SITS 9.3 hours a day. We need to remove ourselves from this sedentary life and increase our movements. Walk/bike to work, take the stairs, pace when talking on the phone, stand up when reading emails - just MOVE!
.
Because we live in a society of convenience, we have conveniently engineered activity out of our daily lives as much as possible.
.
Example:
🔘we no longer use our muscles to open up a garage door - we press a button.
🔘we don’t roll down the windows in our cars, we press a button.
🔘we don’t hand wash our laundry, we use a machine.
🔘we don’t even walk down the hallway to talk to a colleague - we email.
.
The importance of recognising this for our health and goals is so damn important. Don’t allow your only movements for the day just be that time purposely spent to lift heavy shit. Take the STEPS (pun intended) to move more. Make the effort (maybe not hand washing your clothes - because who actually wants to do that?! 😅).
.
Let’s get ourselves out of that sedentary category and strive to move more!

Everyday there are people achieving things they initially thought were impossible. ⁣
⁣
You know what all of those people have in common? Belief and consistency over time. ⁣
⁣
See, it took time in the first place to ingrain that their dreams were impossible. ⁣
⁣
𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 of thinking they’d never lose the weight, 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘴 of trying new things, and 𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴 that felt hopeless. ⁣
⁣
𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 of craving an unconventional lifestyle, 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘴 trying to build it with pure hustle, and 𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴 where it seems like the odds were against them. ⁣
⁣
𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 of knowing they were made for more, 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘴 of trying to define “𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦”, and 𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴 they weren’t sure they were worth it. ⁣
⁣
With all of the time you’ve spent in your head with those negative thoughts, the only impossible thing is thinking you can prove yourself wrong overnight. ⁣
⁣
What’s going to get you where you want to go is belief in yourself and what’s on the other side of “𝘮𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦” or “𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘧”. You have to have that clear vision that’s going to get you through the days, months, and years that it seems like you just plain can’t. ⁣
⁣
Even in the toughest of seasons, you have to remember that nothing is impossible when you know in your bones that you’re limitless.

Everyday there are people achieving things they initially thought were impossible. ⁣

You know what all of those people have in common? Belief and consistency over time. ⁣

Yellow curry: Sure, I love the rich flavors of ginger, turmeric, cumin and cayenne and the tender chicken and sweet potato. Best of all? It took 5 minutes to reheat and tastes better the second time around. ...
Ingredients - 2-3 lbs bone in chicken thighs
- 2 med. yellow onions
- 1 15-oz can chickpeas rinsed and drained (2 cans if you’re veg and skip chicken)
- 3 med. sweet potatoes peeled and cubed - 1 cup chicken bone broth or vegetable broth
- 20 oz crushed tomatoes - 3 T tomato paste - 5 T med yellow curry powder (I buy form Savory Spice Shop)
- 1 T cumin
- 1/2 tsp. cayenne - 1-3 tsp sea salt (depends on salt content of your broth)
- 1 15 oz can coconut milk
- 2 cups green peas
- 2 T lemon juice - a few handfuls fresh cilantro ...
Prepare:
Add broth, tomatoes and seasoning to slow cooker. Add chicken and cover with sauce. Add onion, sweet potatoes and cover. 8 hours low and slow; 4 hours hot and fast. Add coconut milk, lemon and peas 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with cilantro. 
Paleo? Skip chickpeas and peas. Add some other veggies.

@mikaylaghunt got me to the gym again and it was great. Ran the better part of two miles, taught each other some machines, and finally stretched out our bodies from Monday’s damage. Ahhh!!! I’m in love!! I just recently discovered the Sharpie paint pens and they are AWESOME for labeling all my potions and concoctions. 😍 No more peeling stupid labels off. I’m so stoked! The ink is an oil based paint and doesn’t streak when it gets a bit wet, but does come off with a bit of nail polish. (And I think rubbing alcohol but I don’t have any to test that...) Now am I the last one to know about these????? 🤦‍♀️🤣

Finally tried out the hot food at @nourishbykhb recommended by @ssayang.life in Bukit Damansara // I ordered:
🌿 Soy Matcha Latte (sweetened cause last time I ordered it, it was too bitter and they didn't mix the ingredients, compared to my recent visit)
🌿 Cornbread with tomato based beans and avocado smash

Thoughts? I loved the heartiness of the meal - it was light because of how crumbly the cornbread was but filling at the same time due to the abundance of beans. The corn pieces in the cornbread were surprisingly chewy, which I didn't enjoy but for those who like different textures in their meal probably would) but the overall flavour was decent as though a southern aunty decided to take the butter out and make a healthy version of her own corn bread. Portion wise - I actually got full and couldn't finish all the beans so that was a good sign considering how much I eat but definitely not enough for people with really really big appetites.

After work, this client would feel like she was on autopilot and just grazed from the second she got home to the second she went to bed 💤.

We had our work Thanksgiving today and it was DELICIOUS! Normally we each make a dish for our potlucks, but this time my boss decided to have it catered from Piccadilly which made it so much easier to track. I went in with a game plan - start with white meat turkey (2sp💚) and green beans (0sp) and chug a whole Yeti worth of water before I dug into anything else. After that I got some more green beans (because I’m randomly obsessed with Piccadilly’s green beans), some mac & cheese, and a little bit of stuffing. I ate most of the mac & cheese so I’m counting that as 9sp, but took a baby bite of the stuffing and decided it wasn’t worth it at all so I saved some points there! Then came the moment of truth...homemade desserts. I got a small slice of the pumpkin pie cheesecake I made (ate about 2/3 so I’m counting it as 9sp😬), blackberry cobbler, and bread pudding (counting each as 3sp for the amount I ate). I also munched on a corn muffin throughout (4sp). I was so stuffed afterwards, but don’t regret a single bite since it was delicious, I tracked all of it, and still have plenty of weeklies to spare! Thank you all for coming to my worksgiving TED talk 😂

p.s There was also mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, and carrot souffle but I stayed away from those to save points since none of them were really calling my name

We as women give up A LOT for our littles. I mean look at that girl on the left. Sore, expanding hips, intense sciatica pains that still affect me to this day, stretched skin, squished organs, leaky you know what, swollen feet, uncomfortable sleeps, oh and all the pee breaks in the wee hours of the night....and that's only pregnancy. •

For years I believed I had to eat, sleep and breathe my child. Don't get me wrong, I've loved it all (well most of it all!) But I lost myself along the way. For so long I found myself almost too tired to play, my patience level was growing thin and I lacked a lot of motivation to do fun activities that I always swore I'd do one day if I had a child. Hello mom guilt! •

One day the light switch went on and I selflessly decided I needed to make a change not only for myself but for my little family as well. •

So here's to my 4am club because that's where all this change has taken place! 👊🏼 Cannot wait to see where these next 5 years take me...but perhaps they could go slower than these past years have!
