It all starts with a good nights rest.

A new week, a new day and a new opportunity to thrive and feel alive. It all starts with you taking care of yourself and giving your mind, body and soul time to rest.
~
Turn off your devices. Turn off the TV and let your mind be still. Over stimulation to technology is what causes so much stress and anxiety in the modern world.
~
You’ve got to know when to shut things off and connect with yourself. It’s okay to not be stimulated and entertained all the time!
~
Give yourself time before bed to prepare your mind and soul for rest. Meditate, journal, read something that calms the soul or simply just sit in silence and allow your mind to gently calm down.
~
A good nights rest is your best defence against feeling stressed out, anxious and unmotivated. It’s time for you to start managing your energy levels, so you can perform and function at a high level daily and feel energetic and passionate about your life.
~
Have a few simple routines and rituals you run in the evening or before you head to bed, that allow you to get a good nights rest every night. Do what works best for you, but remember the name of the game is ENERGY!
~
Consistent rest is the key and no doubt everyone is going to ask me the most asked question in the world... “Joe, how many hours sleep should I get?”
~
So the simple answer is that everyone is different and everyone’s lifestyle and energy needs are different. I generally say that you want to get between 6 hours to 8 hours of consistent rest every night.
~
The “consistent” part is what determines your energy levels. Not the hours of rest. So that means, you have to be in bed at the same time and up at the same time every day. Your body responds well to patterns and routines and it is through those basic routines that you find greater levels of energy, over time.
~
If you are making great decisions with your diet, exercising for energy, (rather than trying to gain muscle or lose weight) and looking after your mental and spiritual state. Then you will naturally have more energy and be able to live off slightly less sleep than someone who is not managing those other key factors.
~

First, you might’ve weighed in earlier than usual. When you weigh in earlier than usual, there might still be some food left in your stomach, don’t worry. It’s food. It’s not bodyfat. Okay? Good!

Water retention is a big one, eating more sodium and or more carbs in a day that usual will cause your body to hold on to water and even having a very good workout the day before can cause your body to hold onto water!! But heck, who cares about water weight? I certainly don’t and you shouldn’t too!!!!

You ate later at night than usual. This means you’re getting a distorted view on the scale the next morning because there’s still food in your stomach. You shouldn’t care about that because it’s food. It’s not bodyfat.

You might need to take a dump. Go take a dump and step on the scale again. Boom 1-2-3 lbs lost. Nobody cares about that weight.

Este podría ser el típico desayuno de instagram. Pero no, detrás tiene mucho significado. Significa un cambio de hábitos en mi alimentación, significa que al fin estoy concienciado con un problema que llevo arrastrando años y años, un problema que aparentaba muchas veces hacer que no me importaba pero a todos nos importa en cierta manera encontrarnos bien con nosotros mismos. Desde que estoy en Madrid mi cambio físico ha sido notable. He intentado mil veces cambiarlo pero nunca por h o por b lo conseguí. Creo que ahora estoy en un momento muy estable en mi vida y quizá por eso, ahora sea el adecuado. Generalmente me cuesta ser constante con lo que me propongo, no tengo voluntad. O bueno qué coño, no tenía voluntad. Pero me estoy demostrando a mi mismo en este 2020 que si quiero, puedo. Parece una tontería pero en algo menos de 2 semanas he perdido 5 kg solamente cambiando hábitos, comiendo saludable y no excediendome en las cenas que era mi perdición. No he hecho deporte, solo pasear a Onix que bueno algo es. Sé que es poco, sé que me siguen sobrando otros tantos tantos tantos, pero es una motivación ver que al fin después de tantas veces intentándolo estoy logrando algo positivo y que sobre todo el cambio se va producido en mi cabeza. Saturday night in = Mexican night (SW style) 😍🌶 I ate SO much for only 2 syns and my healthy extras! Ignore the wraps on the right as I’m not sure of their syn value, but one weight watchers wrap is HEXB (or 6 syns), 1 tbsp of reduced fat sour cream is 1.5 and and 1tbsp of salsa is 0.5. The chicken was completely free cooked with frylight, peppers, onion and fajita spice and I made the SW loaded wedges (recipe on the website) with some left over SW chilli, wedges and cheese (completely free and one of my HEXA)! The cheese on my wrap was my second HEXA, and the lettuce and cucumber extra speed! First post 2020 - very delayed due to being busy with exam prep and other bits and bobs.

Exams have been going well so far - one more left on Wednesday then FREEDOM! Then I need to start focusing on my Final Year Project which has been seriously neglected.

Training has been going extremely well! Can definitely feel and see the effects from that tough winter grind at the start of the season! Have recently had some new things swapped into my gym program - videoed - and have been enjoying having more technical jump sessions!

In terms of competitions - I’ve decided to pull out of Scottish Indoor Champs next weekend... I competed at an open last weekend but despite having been doing so well in training I just couldn’t seem to bring that to the competition setting. I’ve recognised a mental block that appears when I compete and want to get that sorted before I’m ready to compete properly again! -

Exams have been going well so far - one more left on Wednesday then FREEDOM! Then I need to start focusing on my Final Year Project which has been seriously neglected.

Training has been going extremely well! Can definitely feel and see the effects from that tough winter grind at the start of the season! Have recently had some new things swapped into my gym program - videoed - and have been enjoying having more technical jump sessions!

In terms of competitions - I’ve decided to pull out of Scottish Indoor Champs next weekend... I competed at an open last weekend but despite having been doing so well in training I just couldn’t seem to bring that to the competition setting. I’ve recognised a mental block that appears when I compete and want to get that sorted before I’m ready to compete properly again! -
