Saturday in my thoughts.. These past couple of months I’ve been going through a horrible phase of low motivation and feeling a little all over the place. Training has felt so hard. Life has been a little stressful. Sometimes it can feel like the phase we are going through is never going to improve but it always can and it will. I know that the fire will come back and this is just a bump in the road for me. I just wanted to share this because if anyone else is feeling the same I want to tell you to find that strength to keep showing up and to keep on trying. Going through challenges in your training and in life is normal .. life is not a perfect fairytale. Better days are coming I promise, trust your journey 💙

Low weight and high reps = tone your body ⁣

Nutrition and heavy lifting = “toned”⁣
⁣
First off... toned is an annoying word used in the fitness industry. ⁣
⁣
Being toned means losing body fat and being lean enough for your muscles to show. ⁣
⁣
Lifting light weight for high reps is NOT the way to do this. ⁣
⁣
The most important factor to consider when wanting to get “toned”, is your diet! ⁣
⁣
You need to be following proper nutrition. ⁣
⁣
However, even if you’re following a perfect nutrition routine...lifting higher rips with lower weight is STILL not the correct way to achieve being “toned”. ⁣

Looking back on my fitness journey always brings a smile to my face.
I went from being this skinny little thing in high school, always picked last in gym class (yes, like the good charlotte song 😂) and then I found powerlifting. It was my first sport where I found passion and had so much drive to be the best.
Then I decided to switch it up. I started incorporating more yoga and eventually developed a power building style of training (and my hips were always mangled from powerlifting).
Then I found striking and jiu jitsu. I found that excitement again. 
I’m coming back to the fitness scene real soon and will be training people/teaching classes soon (details and location will be announced soon)

2020 is our year!

Hi, I'm Jolynn.  I am an Ironman athlete, USAT Level 1 certified coach am on a mission to get more women into the sport of triathlon and this is my story (you read that in the voice of NCIS, right? ;)) I wasn't a child athlete, I was a dancer growing up but I remember during 7th grade P.E. when we had to run a mile, I thought there couldn't possibly be anything worse than running.  Later teenage years I found running, but just as a way of burning a few calories. .
.
I became a mother and like most of us do, I put everyone and everything else in front of myself.  Eventually, at a low point in my life, overweight and full of depression, I took charge and made a change.  I started running.  I dove in head first and have never looked back. I eventually found triathlon after taking swim lessons as an adult. (I literally COULD NOT swim until I was in my 30's) My family has never been happier.  I became a butterfly. .

I have had so many women over the last 10 years mentor me and pave the way for me to become the athlete and coach I call myself today.  I promised myself that I would pay it forward and I've been working hard over the last year to accomplish this goal.  I'm pleased to announce the beginning of Monarch Endurance. .
.
My mission is to bring other women like myself into the sport of triathlon.  I am starting a "beginner to sprint tri" group training soon.  Want to do a triathlon but don't know where to begin? contact me today.  We are going to have so much fun!

Gorgeous day to get my last long run in. Kept it nice and easy. Spent most the run reflecting on the message about marriage from church this morning; which was fitting as this also doubled as our “anniversary” run since Thursday was such a nasty day weather-wise for us!! I am grateful my husband allows me this time, he really is my biggest supporter. We know we aren’t perfect, but I also know that we will always chose to be imperfect together! Now bring on DISNEY!! .

Okay, at first I was really nervous to put on the heavy weights that I like training with so I started with 65lbs and then after that I gradually increased the weight to the 95lbs I worked hard to get to. I’m pretty happy with how easy it’s becoming to lift that weight so I’m excited to increase my weight next week!
Overall it feels good to be back at the gym going my hardest to be at my strongest! I’m following @strongstrongfriends  Stronger By The Day program and I’m excited for this coming weeks program!

Went out for a walk and took the day off the gym today to spend quality time with my hubby. After our walk we went to check this nice coffee shop, then went out for lunch.

Not gonna lie I thought about getting a double Patty bun-less burger but I decided to stick with better nutrition. It's a choice not an obligation!

Went out for a walk and took the day off the gym today to spend quality time with my hubby. After our walk we went to check this nice coffee shop, then went out for lunch.
