Life in self quarantine so far: boring🥴
Although, We don’t know how long this thing will last so let’s take advantage of this time and do the things we’ve always wanted to do (considering our limited resources) because with all this time we have no excuses! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -
I’m going to use this time to practice eating more, drinking more water, and stretching. I found out today I weigh 121lbs (which is heavier than I was a few months ago so there’s progress) but I’m still pushing for 130 🤗 or more..

Home training. Yes the novelty has worn off for most now but the ones who truest enjoy training for what it is will continue to train and maintain tissue. We are seeing a lot of home workouts being posted.. some with great intent but little thought process.. just the intent of moving more which is awesome for most people looking to maintain a level of fitness. For the more advanced lifter looking to maintain tissue however, the thought process should be to mimic the training/movement patterns you did before lockdown. Here’s a killer Leg workout for you to do at home!⁣

To make it easy to follow, I have performed both advanced and beginner versions of these movements. ⁣

If you do all 4, you will target all major muscle groups in your lower body and some of the minor ones too!⁣

I actually hadn’t intended to do any cardio after my workout on Tuesday but I hadn’t put a HIIT workout together myself in foreeever! I love having a coach but I miss putting my own workouts together for sure🥺⁣
I did one full round as a finisher to my workout, but if you do 2-3 rounds of the entire circuit I can guarantee this is a full cardio workout - my face matched my pants and I was soaked in sweat by the end!🍅🥵⁣
This one is quick and effective to get your heart rate up at the end of a workout or for a full cardio session, just add rounds to suit your session😈⁣

Ever heard that days off are for the weak? Or that if you don't train everyday then you're leaving gains on the table?

Here's the thing, this is complete nonsense; in fact the opposite is true. People often think that training is anabolic, however this couldn't be further from the truth. Training is possibly the most catabolic thing you can do to your body. After all, what is the goal of your training? It is to cause microtrauma to your muscle tissues right?! That's completely catabolic.
.
You know what is anabolic though? Rest and recovery. This is when your body delivers nutrients to help your muscle tissue rebuild itself bigger and stronger than before. If you don't give your muscles enough time to recover not only will your performance suffer but so are your muscle building potential!

So, don't be afraid to take your rest days. Aim to take 1-3 a week; your muscles will thank you.

A common misconception is that protein from protein shakes is magical and superior to protein from food (like chicken). I believed this when I first started working out. I used to think that protein shakes were some miracle muscle building powder that would be the secret to gaining muscle. Spoiler alert...it wasn’t.

Protein from shakes and food is really no different. I do like to use protein supplements for the taste, convenience, and affordability but I also prefer to get the majority of my protein from food because I rather eat my calories than drink them. Most people will find protein shakes are a convenient and affordable way to get enough protein each day but other than that, there’s nothing “magical” about consuming protein in the form of a supplement over food. As long as you hit your protein at the end of the day, whether it comes from shakes or chicken won’t make much of a difference. -

3. KETEPIKAN dari minum SODA & KOPI berlebihan.

Following up last week’s bulking macros post, here are some general examples of how to calculate your cutting macros depending on your size. Again, I want to stress that this is very generalized and your own macros are highly individual based on numerous factors such as age, activity level, lifestyle, body composition, genetics, etc. This is meant as starting point and how to generally go about setting up your macros to lose fat. It’s not meant to be followed blindly and there is room to adjust within each macro depending on the specific situation.

First, we start with calories. Generally, for cutting, you can take your body weight and multiply it by 12-14. In this example, I went right in the middle and used 13.

Second, I suggest figuring out protein. A general rule is 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight.

Third, we figure out fat. I suggest around 20-30% of your overall calories come from fat. I went right in the middle and chose 25% here.

Finally, we figure out carbs. To do so, figure out how many calories you used up on protein and fat. Then, subtract that number from your total calories and divide by 4. Protein/carbs have 4 calories per gram. Fat has 9.

Like I said, this is generalized since your own macros are unique to you and there are tons of factors that need to be considered. Thank god there’s no national shortage of protein powder right now 🙏🏻 I always like to have a high quality protein powder in the cupboard as it’s a really convenient way of sometimes bumping up my protein intake for the day or boosting the protein content of a certain type of meal. 
I use Whey especially when I make oats or over night oats 🥣 and find that @time4nutrition whey protein not only tastes great but mixes REALLY well (this isn’t the case with a lot of other powders). I’ve only tried their chocolate flavour and have been impressed with how chocolatey it actually is 🍫 👌🏻 This is one of a very small number of protein brands I recommend to my clients.

Thank god there’s no national shortage of protein powder right now 🙏🏻 I always like to have a high quality protein powder in the cupboard as it’s a really convenient way of sometimes bumping up my protein intake for the day or boosting the protein content of a certain type of meal.

Any kind of Squat will do. If you don't have weights, find something with a little weight to it that you can hold safely. You can do regular Squats and Jump Squats (in the video Allison is doing 1-1/2 Squats & Jump Squats). So I’ve had a few people ask whether or not I’m still bulking.
I did decide to end my bulk a little early since all the gyms are closed. While I still am trying to challenge myself with my workouts as much as possible, I also know I won’t get the most out of the end of my bulk as I would if I were in the gym. My equipment and the amount of weights I have is a lot more limited!
So I decreased calories. Either will stay at maintenance or go into a SLIGHT deficit. Nothing too extreme as I want to preserve as much muscle as possible.
As far as my workouts, I’m still working out 5 days a week. And I’m now starting to track my steps again. Since I’m stuck at home all day, I want to make sure I’m still moving my body so I’m hitting 10,000 steps a day. Not doing any cardio yet. The only thing that has changed is I’m eating fewer calories and I’m tracking my steps!

There is a misconception that using the scales is the best way of tracking your physique progress. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Don’t get me wrong, the scales can be a great tool to help track progress IF combined with other measures. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I’d argue that relying on the scales alone can be one of the worst ways to track your progress. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Scale weight simply just tells us how much you weigh. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You could start off at 200lbs and 25% body fat and then drop to 10% body fat, but have your weight stay the same at 200lbs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Does that mean you haven’t progressed? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Of course not.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t get me wrong, the scales can be an awesome tool to help, but only really when used in conjunction with the other things such as the numbers you are lifting, your visual appearance (if you look visually leaner or not) and also (most importantly) how you feel.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Some days I can step on the scales and weigh 5lbs more than the day before, does that mean I gained 5lbs of fat overnight? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Of course not.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There’s nothing wrong with tracking your weight. Just be sure to not let that number dictate how you feel. -
