Forever grateful for the gym and being able to work on my fitness because life is really testing me atm and the gym is the one place I know I can go, zone out of all other problems and just focus on improving myself. It's cool to see physical changes and improvements in physical strength but it's not just about the aesthetics - mental strength is crucial too. ♕

why is it always the days you reaaally don't want to go to the gym that you end up having a good workout 🤷🏻‍♀️ yesterday was my first leg day in a while & I really focused on my form cos it's not been perfect recently. started with some good ol' fashion hip thrusts, then moved onto sumo DLs & RDLS, followed by goblet squats, leg press + banded side steps. finished it all off with 15 mins on the stepper which killed any energy I had left 🥵 have a great weekend 💖🥰

don't take urself too seriously 😜 so last week I managed to hurt my neck drying my hair (of all things lol) so I couldn't work out for a few days, but today I got a light shoulder/back workout in + some cardio 💪🏻 also weirdly loving cardio again atm...who am I 🤣

I CAN. AND I WILL. END OF STORY ✨. Guten Morgen meine Zuckerschnecken & #fitfamgermany - seid ihr alle gut in den Tag gestartet? Heute auf den Tag genau vor vier Jahren begann meine Sportreise, nach zwei Schwangerschaften hatte ich 35 kg zu viel drauf - und ich hab mich soooo unwohl gefühlt 🙈 Meine Ernährung bestand aus Cola & Fertigfutter - ganz schlecht! Jeden Tag aus Kummer noch mehr gefuttert um diese negativen Gefühle zu kompensieren! Ich weiß noch wie mein Großer mich heulend im Bad entdeckte - und das war der Moment wo es KLICK gemacht hat. Von diesem Tag an habe ich meine Ernährung umgestellt, meine Einstellung und ich habe angefangen mich zu bewegen, Joggen etc bis ich dann vor zwei Jahren beim Kraftsport gelandet bin 🤗 Und ich bin so glücklich das ich all diese Schritte gegangen bin, ich bin dankbar für diese Reise. Wanna talk about the glazed donut look that @jsimsfit talks about during her runs?
This is the real life version. 
Our landlord dropped off these gigantic, oversized filled donuts. 
I resisted the urge to even taste one. 
I have a trip to visit the Peloton mothership in February where I finally get to meet my group of peloton besties. I'm really, really hoping to get a run in with Jess while our group is all visiting. 
The peloton bestie group formed during one of the star wars themed powerzone challenges.  A group of about 10 ladies all got super close and we chat every day on WhatsApp. In February,  we are all meeting (for the first time!) and riding/running at the studio! I am BEYOND excited and overly anxious about it. I didnt eat a single donut and ate my low carb zuchinni ravioli instead. I'm on a mission!
This will probably be the only time I get to visit the peloton studios so I'm going to make the best of it!

This PR has been a long time coming. I made Reed wait 3 months before I even let him touch the bench press. Today's PR is the combination of 2 years of progressive overload, adding weight or reps to lifts and intermittent months focused on exercises to correct form and shoulder function.

Reed is my 40 year old poster child for proper strength training being the best way to repair your joints and keep them young. As his mechanics  improve along with his overall strength we add in more complex movements to his routines like push ups to pikes.

Treat your workouts in the gym as more than just a place to build muscle or break sweat. Your workouts no matter the movements are places for skill development. If you treat lifting as a skill to be developed then age, pain and unwanted body fat will all fade with time 😉💪🏾.#iamupcoming

This PR has been a long time coming. I made Reed wait 3 months before I even let him touch the bench press. Today's PR is the combination of 2 years of progressive overload, adding weight or reps to lifts and intermittent months focused on exercises to correct form and shoulder function.

Reed is my 40 year old poster child for proper strength training being the best way to repair your joints and keep them young. As his mechanics improve along with his overall strength we add in more complex movements to his routines like push ups to pikes.

Here is my story, many don't know it.  Everyone has a story when it comes to their weight loss/healthy lifestyle journey.  I'm not exempt.  When I started my journey on 12/3/12 (I actually started on 11/27/19) I was 149.8 pounds. Now for ME, the way I looked wasn't the way I wanted to.  I delivered a baby February and couldn't get back on track.  Prior to being pregnant I was a solid 148 because I was working out seriously.  I was toned and tight.  My goal was to get back that way.  In the photo I was 39.  When I started on 12/2/12 I was very serious about where I wanted to be and in 3 months I lost 22 pounds just from working out at home and changing my eating habits.  Was this easy, nope.

In the center photo, I was 40.  Those eating habits and at home workouts worked great.  In the center photo I was 130 pounds.  Just finished a great challenge and this was the outcome.  Was it easy nope. 
Last photo, age 46.  This journey has been very interesting.  Weight in the photo 146 pounds.  I workout at least 5 days a week, but most weeks I workout 6 days a week for at least 1 hour and 30 min. Two years ago I was working out 1 hour and 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes at lunch.  What I've learned is that my body likes cardio.

From 2012 until now in 2019, this has been on crazy journey.  From 2012 until now, the lowest my weight has been is 127 and the highest (since The older I get the more my body seems to change and I need to figure out how to make adjustments as it changes.  I have picked up more body fat, done less cardio, not consistently working out 6 days, rarely hiking Crowder's Mountain, more knee pain, eating more junk food (not fried food, except French fries), less cleanses, eating out more (not a lot), life circumstances and IN DEEP LOVE with my husband.

Instead of dividing foods into classes of “good” and “bad”, or “healthy” and “unhealthy”, I implore you to take the time to read the nutritional packaging. In doing so, you will gain a thorough understanding of the calorie values and macronutrient breakdowns, and how that impacts your energy intake requirements.

As you can see, when comparing a “healthy” cereal to an “unhealthy” cereal, the calories and macronutrients actually aren’t that different!!! For example, the Special K Fruit & Nut is 2.2F 5.7P 27.5C per serve, and the Froot Loops is 0.6F 2.6P 34.2C per serve. Not that dissimilar, are they?

If you would like to argue that the sugar content of the Froot Loops is the devil, well… LET’S DO THAT RIGHT NOW - I’m not scared of you clean-eating, sugarless zealots!!! The Special K contains 6.4g sugar and the Froot Loops contains 15.2g sugar. Before you claim that sugar is the catalyst for “weight gain”, there have been studies conducted where subjects were prescribed low or high sucrose (sugar) diets, and it was found that a diet higher in sugar isn’t inherently fattening when total calories and macronutrients were managed.

I’d also like to note that the Special K contains only 3g fiber (with the Froot Loops containing 1g) so neither cereal is going to offer any real satiety on the GL spectrum (if you want to read mire about those studies, DM me and I can provide you that evidence).

Let’s stop demonising foods and having a “black and white” approach of thinking when it comes to our nutritional choices. I used to be a clean-eating zealot and bashed all processed foods, but this relationship was damaging to my psychological well-being and it didn’t improve my behaviours or attitudes towards food in the long-term. Now that I have a better understanding of food from a more scientific standpoint, I now happily enjoy ALL FOODS in moderation without the guilt or binge-eating tendencies. Knowledge is power, people!!!
