since I am going through a deep season of healing, I want to start slowly sharing little parts of my journey on here, maybe it will help some of you all - you are not alone!

I’ve struggled my whole life with some form of another of an eating disorder. They seem to come in different forms but some are looking at food improperly, obsessing over what I ate, taking appetite suppressors to not eat or simply overly exercising; through the years I had strategically built a formula in my mind to stay “thin” and if I felt out of control in that my mind would go downward spiral.

when I moved to Orange County; I knew the biggest thing God wanted was to heal was my mind - and how I looked at myself, others and my relationship with health + my body. Being in a culture that is filled and obsessed with image, I knew this wasn’t going to be an easy task but He slowly started taking away everything I used to “cope” and feed this disease. He started bringing awareness to how my mind would go into fight or flight mode to protect this image I created & He put people around me that challenged my thought process and helped bring awareness to my unhealthy behaviors.

I know I’m not 100% there, there’s days when I wake up and don’t feel GREAT but it’s been beautiful to re-fall in love with the way He created me and not put my identity in what I eat or what I look like - to just live freely in this body and love every part of it. He’s been reteaching me that having a love for health and fitness is beautiful when done in the right context - when it’s not controlled or manipulated. I guess I’m just posting this to show that there is healing at the end of the tunnel. That there IS FREEDOM over your thoughts and way you perceive others and yourself. Change that inner dialogue and ask God to give you His eyes for YOU and for the people around you. You are loved loved loveeeeeddd.

I started this program thinking that nothing was going to change. I had been stuck in an awful funk and plateau. My priorities were not in line with what I wanted for my life, and I let it effect me mentally and physically. I also was stuck seeing no progress with anything I tried, and I felt like I was just stuck there and there was nothing I could do about it 🤷🏼‍♀️
.
Day 1 of this program I was mad. I didn’t think this program was hard enough or challenging enough for me. I ended up the first week or two doing double days because I didn’t feel like I worked hard enough. But boy, after week two, that all changed. And Jericho kicked my ass 🤣🤣
.
During this 100 day journey I have learned so much about myself. I’ve learned to take things purposefully slow, and to just enjoy whatever I was doing in that very moment. I started to focus on rest and sleep more, rather than exhausting myself and pushing myself too hard (something I always frequently did). I also started to focus on my mindset more. I started to not make excuses on why I couldn’t have some of the things I wanted in life because well...that’s a bunch of horse shit 🤣 I can have and be whatever I want in this life. And if I want it, I’m going to work my ass off to get it. So my schedule shifted. I started to be more intentional with my time and my tasks during the day. And I found that my life is just flowing with much more ease and purpose. And guess what?? I’m enjoying it a hell of a lot more!
.
And you know what else? I lost a total of 4 lbs and a total of 7 inches across my entire body. My clothes fit better and I physically FEEL better. And I wasn’t perfect during these 100 days. There were parties and gatherings and birthdays and holidays. And I took everything in with B A L A N C E 🙌🏻
.
I’m so grateful I pushed myself and did this program. And I’m very happy I never quit on myself. Now it’s on to the next adventure, and we will see what that has in store for me ❤️

Starbucks Frappuccino Part 3.

I wanted to add one more thing to the conversation about Starbucks Frappuccino’s. 
When I coach clients about nutrition in our Fast.Eat.Live. system @fasteatlive I spend a lot of time discussing phasing and fueling. That’s pertinent to our system and weekly 7 day eating pattern. ▶️ The highest priority when considering food is “nutrient density”. Food items should have the highest nutrient density possible. ▶️ Nutrient density means “bang for your buck” highest & best sourcing of calories. Proteins, Fats, & Carbs in a specific food item or meal. ▶️ Empty calories means foods that are designed to taste good but provides zero healthy reason to eat them. ⚠️ With that being said....as the 💯 real coach that I am there’s always a time and place for any food you love or want. I truly mean that!! I created FEL with the emphasis on the “LIVE” part (or Phase 3). Anyone who knows me, knows I love: alcohol, dark chocolate, and quality cigars. These are empty calories...😍 Beautiful amazing empty calories 😉 
This is why this post matters!!! 👉🏻 Swipe through these photos included to see what I’d trade or my clients (who seem to love red velvet cupcakes) would trade out instead of that Starbucks Frappuccino. 💡Why? Because at least they have more nutrient density (Protein & Fats) than that coffee drink. 
PS I took the time to match these 3 items to show you they all have close to the same total calorie count. 💯 I’d trade the dark chocolate squares for that coffee drink. I’d actually build a better high fat coffee drink with zero added sugar and enjoy the chocolate with it. 👌🏻 Food choices matter! Just like your significant other, friends, clothes, vacation spots, cars, and time spent do!!! Make good decisions. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Fast.Eat.Live.

Deadlifting Dayz

Lately I’ve been Really trying to perfect my deadlift form. This exercise is such an extremely valuable, yet complex move. Especially if you want to avoid injury. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A few months ago I hit a PR of 200 lb which for me felt amazing. However, I didn’t hit it with the greatest form. And honestly, ever since then it’s been darn near impossible for me to get back up there. But, the next next time I do get there, I want to make sure I do it correctly and safely. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I’ve decided that it is okay to put aside the pride, cut back on weight and really work on perfecting my form. That is going to benefit me more in the long run. Fitness is definitely a journey. Some days are easier than others and sometimes we may face setbacks, but that is okay. Just keep going 🤗

I'll admit, I haven't been too focused on getting my unrefined plant-based foods in recently but after indulging on pineapples and strawberries I feel like I've recalibrated my mindset in the right direction. 🎯

With holiday treats out and about, temptation will be EVERYWHERE! 🧁🍪🎂
So doing this simple swap from treats to fruit will help you stay on track, whatever your health/fitness goals may be. 🌿

Plenty of cold weather and rain in the forecast, which means it’s time for soup! I recently made a big batch of Turkey Lentil Chili and it warmed my tummy right up 🙌🏼 For soups and chili, I’m not super exact with measurements and I kind of let it take course while I’m preparing it. Add as much or as little seasonings as you want- make it your masterpiece! Below is what I used... .

Ingredients: 1 lb ground turkey,
1 can kidney beans, 1 cup dry lentils, 1 can tomato paste, 1 jar bone broth, 1 jalapeño, 1 onion, 1 bell pepper, 1 poblano pepper, 1 cup cubed and frozen butternut squash, cilantro, pepper, salt, minced garlic .

Directions: chop all veggies (except cilantro) and sauté in a pan with olive oil chopped garlic until golden brown. Put the cooked veggies in your crock pot or instapot. Next, cook your ground turkey in that same pan with salt and pepper. Put cooked turkey into crock pot or instapot to join the veggies. Plenty of cold weather and rain in the forecast, which means it’s time for soup! I recently made a big batch of Turkey Lentil Chili and it warmed my tummy right up 🙌🏼 For soups and chili, I’m not super exact with measurements and I kind of let it take course while I’m preparing it. Add as much or as little seasonings as you want- make it your masterpiece! Below is what I used... .

Ingredients: 1 lb ground turkey,
1 can kidney beans, 1 cup dry lentils, 1 can tomato paste, 1 jar bone broth, 1 jalapeño, 1 onion, 1 bell pepper, 1 poblano pepper, 1 cup cubed and frozen butternut squash, cilantro, pepper, salt, minced garlic .

Directions: chop all veggies (except cilantro) and sauté in a pan with olive oil chopped garlic until golden brown. Put the cooked veggies in your crock pot or instapot. Next, cook your ground turkey in that same pan with salt and pepper. Put cooked turkey into crock pot or instapot to join the veggies. I’m excited to hit the week running with my training, chest infection has mostly cleared up and the knee, whilst still bad, has improved enough to be off pain meds 🙌🏼 I won’t be bouncing around boxing or getting back to BJJ just yet, but I’m gonna be hitting the weights HARD! 💪🏼

I keep having this dream that I’m smashing out pull-ups with ease. In reality it’s something I’ve always had trouble doing and never made much progress with, but I’ve not made much of an effort to get better at them. So I’ve set myself a new goal for pull-ups 👌🏼 I’ll also get back to some circuit training to improve my fitness too! 🔥

Wir wollen uns jetzt auf jeden Fall einen Crosstrainer kaufen, weil wir aus Erfahrung wissen im Winter jede Menge Ausreden zu haben draußen Sport zu machen.
Habt ihr Empfehlungen für bestimmte Geräte? Darüber würde ich mich freuen.

SALADE DE POULET, CONCOMBRE, TOMATE ET AVOCAT 🥑😋 . 
RECETTE RAPIDE ET FACILE pour le déjeuner, le dîner en famille ou une fête pour la foule. Salade hachée avec du poulet grillé mariné et des légumes est maigre, propre manger, faible en glucides, léger et facile à faire des repas. Cette recette simple utilise un seul mélange comme marinade pour le poulet et la vinaigrette.
filets de poulet désossés et sans peau (ou poitrine de poulet tranchée ½ pouce d'épaisseur) 
1-1 ½ cuillère à soupe d'huile d'olive pour graisser la poêle 
Pour Marinade / Vinaigrette: 
2 ½ cuillère à soupe d'huile d'olive 
1 ½ cuillère à soupe d'eau 
4 cuillères à soupe de jus de citron frais (2 petits citrons) 
1 cuillère à soupe vinaigre balsamique
½ cuillère à café de poudre d'ail 
2 cuillères à café de persil séché 
2 cuillerées à thé de basilic séché 
1 cuillère à café de sel de mer 
1 / 8-1 / 4 cuillère à thé de poivre noir 
Pour salade: 
1 gros avocat coupé en dés 
1 concombre coupé en dés 
environ 1 ½-2 tasse de tomates cerises 
1 petit ou moyen oignon rouge émincé
2 cuillères à soupe de fromage feta émietté - à saupoudrer dessus si désiré 
Tout d'abord, dans un bol moyen, mélanger tous les ingrédients de la marinade / vinaigrette et bien mélanger. 
Réservez la moitié du mélange pour une utilisation ultérieure comme vinaigrette (couvrez et conservez au réfrigérateur). Maintenant, placez les filets de poulet dans le mélange restant et retournez le poulet pour bien enrober, puis couvrez le bol et placez-le au réfrigérateur pour laisser mariner pendant au moins 15 à 20 minutes. 
Graisser la poêle à griller avec de l'huile d'olive, faire chauffer à feu moyen-élevé et faire griller le poulet quelques minutes de chaque côté jusqu'à ce qu'il soit doré et complètement cuit. Laisser refroidir quelques minutes, puis hacher le poulet en petits morceaux. 
Dans un grand bol, mélanger l'avocat en dés, le concombre, les tranches de tomates cerises, l'oignon rouge et le poulet haché, verser la vinaigrette réservée sur les ingrédients de la salade, bien mélanger et servir. . . .

Thanks for the positive comments & insight about my high point fast food dinner last night, honestly usually I just wouldn’t track it, so eye opening 💜 definitely overthinking this 16pt purple plan - I pretty much know points in my head & think about what I want to eat & realize I eat more not 0 food than I thought & what I’m going to have left & definitely wouldn’t work for me if not intermittent fasting. Was surprised & thrilled I actually lost over a pound when I got on the scale this morning because I have been eating too many nuts, so maybe true they are healthy & can help weight loss 🤷🏻‍♀️I’m just now eating this bit of snack stuff, 7pts 😮 Don’t think I’ll buy bags of almonds again, may just stick with pistachios. ❀ Today marks 5 MONTHS of me traveling. I cannot begin to explain what these past 5 months have entailed but I do know what I want my last month to consist of. I believe happiness is a choice and I choose joy. I was told this weekend that “life doesn’t happen to you it happens for you” and once we start thinking this way the world and our obstacles don’t seem against us anymore. To the greatest friends, beautiful sights, and deepest emotional struggles; thank you for making me who I am. Let this last month be full of the most wonderful surprises.

In 100 days I’ve started therapy, totaled my car, taught 1.5 quarters, ran my 3rd half marathon, and completed 100 workouts 🥳 (swipe to see day 1-100)⁣

I can notice measurable differences (muscle gain, improved balance, and using heavier weights) but what you can’t see is what’s most important.⁣
⁣
These past 100 days have brought a lot of baggage with them. I started therapy and took a deep dive into my biggest trauma, totaled my car in a hit & run, and drove the struggle bus through some of the most stressful teaching months.⁣
⁣
These morning workouts were one of the only things I could control in this season.⁣
⁣
Every morning I decided to put myself at the top of my to-do list and press play on a workout. I couldn’t control a lot of things happening to me, but I could control how I took care of my health.⁣
⁣
These workouts pushed me to wake up early every morning instead of sleeping in and rushing to get ready. They pushed me to choose veggies for snacks over fast food. They pushed me to journal instead of scroll Instagram.⁣
⁣
100 days later and I’m feeling so much stronger both mentally and physically.⁣
⁣
