Many people want a quick and easy way to lose fat, especially in troublesome areas, and although it is impossible to spot reduce fat from our abs or any other part of our body, it is possible to build muscle in a specific area by targeting specific muscles.

My advice would be that rather than focusing on a specific area which we can’t control we should instead be focusing on what we can control such as building muscle through resistance training, a healthy diet aligned with our goals and making the most of what we have 🙏🏻

#groceryhaul 🛒 I don't know about you, but I love seeing other people’s groceries. So, I figured I’d share my purchases from my latest trip to the supermarket. These are pretty much my diet staples except from the salads which I’m actually pretty excited to try: ✽ My favorite protein bars low on fat high in protein from @pepu2nutrition I can eat the chocolate ones every day and never get bored
✽ Lentil burgers with the best texture and also very high in protein from @mannaecuador ✽ Gluten free corn cookies wich are perfect as a carbohydrate source for breakfast or lunch from @sanissimo_ecu

Back and biceps, and a quick run. My 4th day of running since snapping my left ACL, and yes it’s a struggle running without ACL’s in both knee. I can’t wait to get the surgery done to be back riding MTB, and running 6 miles every M, W, F. The struggle is real. Time to get Frozen! :

Today was the first of three races for the Frozen Foot 5k (or you could choose a 10k) series and it was certainly living up to its name with being very windy and cold even if the sun was trying to peek out from time to time. :

This is my 4th year running the series. I look forward to doing it even though i don’t “train” for it besides my daily home workouts. When i first started losing weight and almost a year into it, I decided I wanted to try a 5k. I was using it as a starting point almost, to see what I was capable of or maybe to prove to could do it. 4 years later, I still use it as sort of a tribute race to show and continue to be active. :

However this year had a new spin on it, because my oldest son was made an “official” racer instead of just running with me. He did so good last spring that I told him I would sign him up this year!  I love that he wants to run these races with me! :

Despite the cold and windy weather, as well as us both having a cough and chest congestion, I’m proud of our times.

Ended up coming away with a second place medal and NJ State Record for the 16-17year old 75kg weight class in the deadlift. A great meet put together by @keenstrengthsystems @uspa_northeast and @aferchen -Squat 137.5kgs/303lbs

I used to spend SO much time driving to the gym! By the time (in the winter) I started my car, drove to the gym, put my stuff away, worked out, drove home, showered and made food it was THREE HOURS later!

Imagine my surprise when I started doing home workouts and I walked to my living room, worked out, showered and made food in ONE HOUR!

Not only did I get an amazing workout, but I did it with 2 hours extra in my day!

She brought them to show me & tell me how much she appreciates them AWWWW! Plus she had me sign her hat. 😂 I wrote “Stay Strong! ❤️ Stef”. The answer will probably disappoint you: there is no secret. Because I don’t 🤷🏻‍♀️

There’s this misconception that people who love to exercise and/or eating healthy food are motivated and excited about doing it ALL the time. BUT, the reality is that we get unmotivated and disinterested at different times just like anyone else.

I’m actually experiencing this RIGHT NOW. I’ve been totally disconnected for the last week or so any time I’ve stepped in the gym.
*
Here’s the secret: you are not gonna be motivated all the time. Motivation is a feeling. It’s fleeting and it’s fickle. Motivation is short-term. You don’t wake up every single day for months and years on end ready to go kick ass and lift heavy things. (If you do, share YOUR secret with ME!)

DISCIPLINE is a character trait. It’s there when the motivation isn’t and it says “maybe I don’t feel like doing this right now, but I know I’ll feel better after and I’m tougher than what my head is telling me.” Discipline is long-term. You have to be *disciplined* enough to know that you have goals, and your goals don’t waiver with your day-to-day motivation.

Motivation might get you started, but being disciplined is what keeps you going when the motivation is gone. It’s choosing what you want most (to reach your health and fitness goals) over what you want right now (skip your workout and stay on the couch, stop for takeout, whatever).

Be disciplined enough to make those goals non-negotiable. Be disciplined enough to stay dedicated to yourself.

The good news is that the motivation will come back! It usually doesn’t stay away for very long. And when it comes back, instead of having to start all over -AGAIN-, you’ve been disciplined enough to continue on towards them ✊🏼
