2019 for me is all about improving mental strength and physical health. 🔥👊🏼 Last year wasn’t exactly lazy, it was the complete opposite in fact. To give you some background, at the start of last year I started training with a personal trainer and trained twice a week. Also I did my own workout 3-4 times a week💪🏼. Honestly, I felt exhausted all the time. Looking back I can see now that I was not fueling my body with proper nutrition. 🥗🥪
I realized towards the end of last year that in this social media driven world it is easy to subscribe to something that doesn’t actually suit you. More than anything it is about being more mindful when it comes to fitness, listening to what makes me feel and, of course fueling my body with proper nutrition. 🙏@RPstrength recently launched an amazing diet app and their app is focused on the concept of setting your own pace, something that rang pretty true with me.

PIVOTING ON RACEDAY ⚡️

In 2017, I went out to run @lululemon Seawheeze- hoping to come away with a PR. I had been reading The Champion’s Mind (HIGHLYYYY recommend!) & I read the night before about how you have to be able to *pivot*- if the conditions weren’t ideal- you were fully capable of pivoting & handling them- not writing yourself out the of race, not having a meltdown, not going into complete negative mode- but accepting what is going on-& making the best of not ideal circumstances.

We had come out to Vancouver in the midst of some crazy fires and the air was so thick with smoke- not ideal. But then the morning of the race it was crazy windy- which pushed the smoke out of the area- but was a bit stressful for when you’re trying to PR. As we were warming up into some strong wind- I was just like WHYYYY - I wanted to PR.😫And then I remembered what I had just read- I HAD A CHOICE how I would allow myself to handle this- I could dwell on it, be negative, freak out- or I could do the best with the cards I was dealt on Raceday.😌

It’s such a simple concept, but by learning to pivot & handle less than ideal circumstances that come our way- we make the best of tough situations. The last 6 miles of the race were into direct wind- but I still came away with a big PR. I decided to still do my best & stay engaged & positive even if the conditions weren’t the best.💙
.
We do not get to control every variable on raceday (or in training) - but we get to control our attitudes. We get to control how we mentally navigate a situation- and if we decide to just give up and throw in the towel because things aren’t going 100% your way. Our minds are ALWAYS in control- it’s our choice if we allow a circumstance to control us, to throw us off our game, and to stress us out.

👉🏽A helpful reminder to always keep your mind CHECKED in & as the OPTIMISTIC captain of your ship. Who wants a captain that takes a nap in the middle of a storm- or just tells the crew- looks like we’re going down. NO THANKS!😬😂

One month ago I left home. This month has been so insane, adventurous and unforgettable. I never stayed in one place for more than 2 nights (only in Cairns I stayed 1 week) and have seen the most beautiful places and animals. I'm still wowed everyday and this experience feels so unreal. That being said, I'm also homesick sometimes. I figured it's part of the experience and am trying to cope with it as I go.

✨Традиционное белое платье ✨Странные конкурсы (Кто откусит больше каравая — тот хозяин в доме, съесть соль, чтобы это был последний раз, когда вы друг другу насолили, битье бокалов на счастье. Если вы суеверны и верите, что эти приметы помогут вам в семейной жизни, то никто вам не запрещает. Или, возможно, вы хотите оставить эти конкурсы для гостей, которым это важно. Но нам кажется, что и это можно отнести к пережиткам прошлого (особенно бокалы жалко)

✨Вальс как свадебный танец
✨Только двое свидетелей (Для заключения брака в ЗАГСе нужно только двое свидетелей с каждой стороны. Но не обязательно этим ограничиваться. А помимо них пригласите еще ваших друзей стать подружками невесты и шаферами. Им будет приятно, что вы выделили им такую роль в церемонии. Да их помощь в особенный день вам понадобится как никогда, поверьте.)

Balance. How do you ensure you have work/life balance. What about health balance? It takes intention. And even then sometimes life gets out of balance. Currently my life feels out of balance. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m taking two classes and working full-time. I’m having a hard time finding time to exercise as often as I’d like. It’s okay. I have to remind myself that it’s not long term, it’s only for 6 weeks. So are things really out of balance? I don’t think so. My biggest challenge I had to overcome in my fitness Journey was a hip injury. -

I didn’t get injured by slip, a fall, or an accident.  I watched it progress and bloom. More like I kept grinding it even though it hurt.  I was slowly doing it to myself over the years . Lifting as heavy as I could even if it hurt alittle, without the proper rest , without getting regularly massaged, without ice baths, without doing enough mobility work and stretching.  I love leg day And I pushed it TOO FAR! -

My MRI said slight cam arthritis.
It hurt to walk , it hurt to push the petal while driving - I allowed it to get so bad my body shut my shit down . I learned the hard way. -

I had to take almost 2 years off of lifting heavy.  I healed my hip by giving my body rest , by receiving Chiropractic Care, I went to  a orthopedic therapist and was massaged frequently, I went to a Rolfer. I got one of the best trainers to help me through the fear of using it again and He taught me how to strengthen it . I did hot and cold therapies. I went to Russian the bath house. I  took supplements for joint support and to reduce inflammation.  I am now able to train pain free and it feels fucken amazing !! -

This lesson is why I have my clients do hip strengthening exercises and mobility work in their workouts . -

Do you suffer from hip pain? Even just a little discomfort is your body telling you to pay attention to it. You Must adjust something before it gets worse. -
Do you  stretch on a daily basis? -
Do you own a foam roller? -
Do you know how to self-care your own body aches ? -

SEEK HElP if you don’t know how.  You only have one body and It is NOT easy to fix ! So listen to it and be prompt in taking action. -

It was a BIG day today!!! Walked in without a plan and walked out beating a pb. Decided that after a half dozen sets of 4-8 reps of weights between 155 and 185 lbs to just go for it. 205 LBS BABY...for 2 sets of 2 reps. I couldn’t believe it considering when my friend went to record me a couple weeks ago and I couldn’t even lift 185lbs once and haven’t tried since. I guess all you need is a little pent up anger...and a lot of carbs 🤪
