How i stayed motivated whilst injured 🤔🤕👇🏼⁣

I get asked this a lot because apparently i remained very positive on here! The real truth is, i wasn’t always positive, i actually struggled a lot. I tore the ligament in my knee and at first i thought it would be alright in a few weeks but a few weeks turned into 8 months very quickly! ⁣
⁣
That saying, i learnt so much from my injury! More so that the mental part of dealing with an injury is actually so much worse then the physical pain from the injury itself. So how did i do it?? Well here’s my top tips: ⁣
⁣
1. Focus your energy on other things. Start a new hobby, do things you maybe wouldn’t have done before ⁣
2. Take positives from every situation or day. Did you do something today that you previously couldn’t do? ⁣
3. Remind yourself that the situation could be worse. For me - i could have had to of had an operation which i was told wasn’t always successful ⁣
4. Take each day as it comes and don’t push yourself too much. ⁣
5. Try and enjoy the rest and time off! I started cooking more and began my cooking ebook 😊⁣
6. Phone your friends when you’re sad. It actually really helps talking to someone about it. Being reassured is the best thing. ⁣

Lastly, just know that YOU WILL BE OK ❤️ Everything will be fine. It’s really really s**** but everything will get better 😊 The best feeling is when you get back to training and you manage to finally do what you’ve been craving to do for so long!! The feeling when i could actually squat and run again was unreal 😩❤️🙌🏼 and it was definitely worth the wait. ⁣

Do you have a specific goal in mind which you want to reach in a specific time frame? Do you always end up having an off track day each week? ⁣
⁣
Well.. i’m not going to sugarcoat it but this could be the reason why your progress is slow or not as fast as you hoped 😩 but why?? ⁣
⁣
So let’s say you’re in a calorie deficit Monday - Saturday, then Sunday you have a day off track including a big meal where you have a big starter, main and dessert. That meal may be putting you into a calorie surplus for that day, but ALSO... to maintainence for the week! ☹️.⁣
⁣
So you’ve spent 6 days dieting and one day in a surplus to basically be at maintainence or the same point. Pointless right? 🤦🏼‍♀️ So what do i suggest? Maybe instead of having a starter, main and dessert - just have one yummy thing that day? or maybe try to include things you crave into your diet so you don’t feel the need to go all out. Alternatively, bank calories during the week by eating slightly less calories each day to allow for a slightly higher calorie day at the weekend 😀🍕😍.⁣

Don’t get me wrong, i’m a massive promoter for living a balanced lifestyle. However, if you have a specific goal in a time frame and you’re not reaching it, unfortunately 9 x out of 10 it’s due to those one or two off track days each week 🤦🏼‍♀️ I see it so often and people get so upset because they do genuinely work so hard during the week! So if this is you, maybe just plan ahead and find a way to incorporate this into your diet without putting your hard earned work to waste 😊❤️🙏🏼⁣

I feel like the only times I cheat on my diet or eat unhealthy is when I don’t plan my meals ahead. Time management with food is so important! If you don’t take the time to prep your food and plan each meal, you will be more likely to choose a quick and unhealthy option! Make your health a priority and make the time! I spend most of my Sunday’s prepping for the week! Saturday’s I will usually relax and not count calories and enjoy some sweets!😅

Creamy Berry Smoothie

Prep time: 10 minutes

Yields:
2 servings
⠀
Ingredients
1 avocado
1 cup blueberries
1 cup blackberries
2 tbsps chia seeds
Juice of 2 limes

My Achilles heel is late night snacking and I know I’m not alone. ⁣

Ex: “I’ll have blueberries after dinner and that’ll be the last snack for the day” ⁣

So I haven’t been posting much this past week due to other commitments. Got my head down to get an assessment submitted 🤓 had theee best day at the weekend for my friends wedding 🥰 and just taking time away from social media to enjoy life with the people around you 💕

Gettin' a bit chunky but tryna stay funky 🤓🐷

Right I knowwww everyone claims 'bulking season' coming in to autumn and winter lol, but in my opinion it's the best time to ramp your cals up and try to pack on a bit of muscle! Like, all you're doing is wearing hunners of layers anyway. Because Scotland = Baltic ❄️🤷🏼‍♀️
So for me it's the perfect time to get in to the 'gaining mentality', focus on eating a decent amount & putting effort in to training 💪🏼

Some changes I'm making whilst committing to a muscle gain phase ➡️
1️⃣ Daily creatine consumption - the first time I've ever added this supplement in to my diet! (in general I don't use any supplements besides caffeine and occasional amino acids). Interested to see how my body/muscles respond.
2️⃣ Focus on compounds. Today I reintroduced deadlifts which I've avoided for a long time because in all honesty I've felt they are 'too much effort' to set up and perform 😐 like WTF! Given myself a boot up the arse lol 👌🏼
3️⃣ More variety in reps/sets ranges. Focusing on heavy working sets, back off and TUT (time under tension). Really forcing muscles to WORK 🏋🏼‍♀️

• These last few months, I’ve really worked on putting my attention toward long term goals & appreciating life’s smaller, more basic moments (coffee with a friend, a good book, a genuine laugh). Treating yourself to the more immediate pleasures like a good meal, a night of drinking or a shopping spree are absolutely necessary once in a while, but won’t make you happy long term, because you’ll never feel like you have enough (just like how those Instagram likes will make you feel good short term, and then still leave you feeling empty, needing more). ⠀

Focus your energy instead on the long term - embrace the moments of pain and use them to make your moments of pleasure that much sweeter 🥰 Life gets fun when you learn to appreciate and accept the ordinary. ⠀

Firstly, I can’t even comprehend that photo on the left, as much as I know it was me, I’m also just stunned at my posing, or lack of! However, the one and only boss man that is @konditionbycarson managed to take this weird, uncoordinated, badly posed, wannabe bikini athlete, and in the space of 10 months, turn her into a world class bikini athlete (still sounds weird in my head)!

Through every prep brain meltdown, every video of me saying ‘I’m not gonna be ready’, all the tears and all the half naked check ins (soz @fitnesswithsophie) he was there!

I can not recommend Ollie enough as a coach, but he’s more than that, he will be there when you thought you were alone, when you felt like no one else was around! REISHI HOT CACAO: If you’ve been following me for a while, you know this drink is a staple in my diet — especially during the dark and gloomy cold months. 
Reishi is an adaptogen that helps your body adapt to stress, boosts your immunity, and can decrease feelings of anxiety and depression. Adaptogens shouldn’t be used every single day, from what research suggests, so I aim to include reishi 3-4 days every week. Sometimes more, sometimes less 🙃

Here’s how to make this cozy mug of goodness:

1. Heat up a mug of dairy-free milk.
2. Add 1 tsp of reishi powder + 1-2 tsp cacao powder + dash of cinnamon + sweetener of choice (optional, but I like a drop of liquid stevia.)
3. Mix together with a frother, whisk or spoon.
4. Top with more cinnamon and enjoy!
