Decision made: contest plans postponed until next season.  This year has taught me a lot about bodybuilding and what kind of framework I personally need to put in place to get the best out of myself.  The key thing I’ve found is that while it’s definitely possible to prep while living out of a suitcase and travelling all over the world, it’s not optimal.  I always get my training done and manage to stick to my diet, but I often end up having to settle for less than ideal and it’s always travel related (eg. late night workouts after long flights, doubled up cardio when I’ve had to skip a session to move places or catch a plane, too much reliance on easy food options that travel well over the most nutrient dense choices, etc) and my routine is 100% flexible all the time with no two days ever looking the same. I also tend to let the practices and habits that I am fortunate enough to be able to use to keep me feeling well and balanced fall by the wayside (yoga and stretching, saunas, cryo, being outside, even just reading a book - the latter because I lose a lot of time physically travelling and organising in new locations). These things add up to create a situation where I’m getting by but know it’s very far from being the best scenario for me.  So I’m making a home base of some kind a prerequisite for all future preps.  Occasional (or even regular) travel on prep is fine - living on the road is a whole other beast.  Making this change will allow me to focus on balancing prep and work when I’m in contest mode without the added hassle of constant moving about.  The plan now is to have a “refresh” for a few weeks without getting sloppy (I don’t want another big improvement season just yet - I’ve spent years building) and pick up again in the new year when I’m settled.  I’ll be using the time to work on bringing up my weak spots some more (delts, arms, back) and focusing on my health and wellness - sleep, nutrition, mobility, rest, etc. My coach and I have a contest in mind but I won’t be announcing anything to anyone until I’m sure it’s going ahead. 🔥🌱💪 #veganathlete #bodybuilding #figure

Recently I’ve been trying out a few different training techniques and I thought I’d share them with y’all because they are KILLER ☠️🔥 (disclaimer: I highly recommend doing your own research on them as well since these are only a few examples of how to implement them into your training and I’m not able to fit a full-on scientific explanation in this caption hehehe ok here we go 🤪👏) -

Eccentric training: Focusing on the eccentric/lowering/negative phase of an exercise, for example lowering the weight during a bicep curl for 3 secs, pulling it up in 1 sec and 🔁 -
Constant tension training: No pausing during the entire ROM of an exercise, i.e. avoiding the top and bottom halves of the movement while keeping a submaximal lifting tempo (suitable for e.g. leg presses and lateralraises) 🧭 -
Myo-reps: Doing a hard set of for example 10 ”normal” reps (this classifies as your standard set) + 3 sets of myo-reps: Resting for 10-20 secs, doing as many more reps as you can (= myo-reps), resting for another 10-20 secs aaaand 🔄 #balanceathletica #findyourbalance #bodybypopcorn

A question I’m asked regularly is my opinion on training during holidays. I know a lot of people opt for enjoying the big meals and not stressing on making it to the gym in order to spend time with their families. Now while I do believe it’s important to share this time with loved ones I don’t see why my training has to change. The following are my outlook on training during holidays/vacation:⁣
⁣
• I always put training first 99% of the time. I personally don’t take time off and the reason being is I know I tend to put on weight quickly and I am not willing to burn it back off.⁣
⁣
• I don’t sweat the macros - though I do make sure my protein is still high and I don’t overindulge on fatty foods. ⁣
⁣
• This kind of goes with the last point but I also tend to train harder during the holidays on account of the extra calories.⁣
⁣
• The last point to all this is that the gym is generally a ghost town during the holidays so I’m able to be a little more obnoxious while I’m training.⁣
⁣
That’s about it. I am all about balance as I tend to have an extreme personality and otherwise I’ll just go full speed in one direction or the other. Hope whoever read this enjoyed it. Here’s a nice juicy shot of my delts 💪🏻⁣

I love love doing supersets and high reps for shoulders.. the burn and pump is always unreal 🙌🏼 but I still incorporate heavy weight on my presses as well!

Since Mondays are International Chest Days, I thought it would be a good time to throw up some (more) pushing exercises. Here are some videos of incline dumbbell press and seated shoulder press.

While my weight has been progressing well, I have been mainly focusing on improving my form before going back into strength training. For each of these exercises, that means:
Incline Dumbbell Press - Focus on fully retracting the shoulder blades to get a full stretch of the pecs on descent.
Seated Dumbbell Press - Focus on bringing the elbows slightly forward and keeping the ribs down.

As you can see in the video, I did a much better job with the Incline Press form, but both have come a long way.
