Core strength comes not just from endless amounts of sit ups! When standing and using free weights our body is forced to stabilise itself by using a variety of core muscles including the abs, obliques and several lower back muscles among others.
Having a strong core is essential to almost every sport and athletic activity, it assists ones stability, balance and contributes to so much more!
- 
A lot of these exercises are very versatile and have a ton of variations! Odds are if you can easily plank for 2 or 3 minutes straight,  you need to up the difficulty! Planking for a full minute seems like an eternity. There are always ways to make a progression or regression such as wearing a weighted vest etc

Most people don’t realize how important compound movements are for their core strength. If you have a weak core, progressing in these compound lifts will be challenging & near impossible. Core strength is vital in your life for more than just training.

It’s insane how much hydration and nutrition play a role in how you perform the next day in the gym. I knew when I woke up at a BW of 143 that my bench day would be a struggle. I didn’t eat or drink as much yesterday due to being out and about all day, which 100% was my bad (should’ve planned my meals better). Today I’m definitely trying to make up for it by getting in a little extra with every meal. Here’s to those boob gainz! 6 weeks out! ..

Life outside of the gym impacts lifting, and in this case it is in a positive way. I have been experiencing a lot of abundance and a peaceful state of mind this training cycle. My stress levels are lower and I am able to show up for myself to the bar. I lift to pursue excellence and to break stigmas or stereotypes. I lifted my typical meet opener pull 9 times today 🤯

Since both @jaayboy12 and @sfu_shad have been sick as a dog this last week, here is some footage of both retooling their deadlifts earlier this week. "Light weight" low reps.

Trying to find better body positioning from the floor, hip shifts and better activation towards the top of the lift. Ugly but the work is being put in and @asa_preacher_barnes will help get us to the promised land.

Yesterday my body was DRAINED. Sleep the night before was just a handful of hours long, work was stressful, and my time of the month is making your girl feel like ☠️, BUT, I still showed up to the gym. 
I still put in work. 
I still got it done. 
After 5 x 2 at 210lbs, coach @callousedhandspower had me go for as many reps as possible. I set my mind on 10... but the ultimate hype crew @theleorosa @sweatwithsoph_ and @jordan_downing_ weren’t about to let me stop there. I ended up pulling 15 reps at 210lbs... only after did I realize that’s 80% of my 1 Rep Max. 🤯 At 118lbs bodyweight.

Yesterday my body was DRAINED. Sleep the night before was just a handful of hours long, work was stressful, and my time of the month is making your girl feel like ☠️, BUT, I still showed up to the gym.
I still put in work.
I still got it done.
After 5 x 2 at 210lbs, coach @callousedhandspower had me go for as many reps as possible. I set my mind on 10... but the ultimate hype crew @theleorosa @sweatwithsoph_ and @jordan_downing_ weren’t about to let me stop there. I ended up pulling 15 reps at 210lbs... only after did I realize that’s 80% of my 1 Rep Max. 🤯 At 118lbs bodyweight.

With the use of consistent programming and appropriate technique adjustments, Sam has added 33 POUNDS to his estimated 1 repetition maximum (1RM) on his sumo deadlift and 24 POUNDS to his barbell bench press over the course of  2 WEEKS.
.
Progress this quickly achieved is NOT the result of an increase in muscle mass or significant changes in muscle composition.  These improvements are seen through perfecting movement mechanics and dialing in quickly on weak links within each movement pattern, improving mechanical positions and neuromuscular performance which will transfer to his on-field performance nicely.  Some of the technique work we have done can be seen in the empty-barbell squat video above (squat update to come).

Our approach is not one-size-fits all, as can be seen by the use of the Sumo deadlift in Sam's programming.  Other athletes use a conventional stance or purely use the trap bar.  We address our training tools on a case-by-case basis.  In Sam's case, his height and body structure were best suited for the Sumo position.

Building the foundation with strong compound movements are integral to then transferring these benefits to more sport-specific movements which are included in each training session.

I definitely had pre-game butterflies/shits the whole day😂😂 I skipped novice class and went straight to the heavy weight open because @gym_dad_hag is a bad ass trainer and prepared me right! Can't wait for the next one!

Finally, a strong body is a sexy one. Strong, lean muscle on a female body gives you confidence and curves in all the right places and is more attractive than any butt implant or waist trainer could ever make you

Your training program should be focused on getting you strong first. The longevity and quality of your life are dependent on it
