Transformation Tuesday!
.
It’s officially been 2 years since I looked into the mirror with disgust & decided to turn my life around by finally quitting smoking & getting my butt back in the gym.
.
I will never forget the feeling that took over me the first time I realized how much I had let myself go.
.
I had been a smoker since 15, but was also heavy into fitness since 18, certifying as a personal trainer at the age of 19. At 25 my construction company was keeping me so busy I decided to not only stop personal training but also stop exercising all together.
.
I slowly began operating equipment much more & doing physical labor much less. It wasn’t long until I began chain smoking nearly 2 packs a day & developing some very bad eating habits. In a matter of 3 years I turned my muscular 170 pound frame into a very soft, very unhealthy 225 pound frame.
.
2 years ago I finally quit smoking & made fitness a priority again.
.
Gaining control over my fitness & what I put into my body is by far one of my greatest accomplishments! I work hard at it, make some sacrifices but still enjoy life & still very much enjoy eating whatever I want several times a week.
.
It’s a no brainer that living a healthy lifestyle is the way to go, but don’t forget to still enjoy yourself & make your healthy lifestyle sustainable!
.
I hope this story helps motivate some of you to take better care of yourselves & become a better you! Cheers!

I will never forget the feeling that took over me the first time I realized how much I had let myself go.

I had been a smoker since 15, but was also heavy into fitness since 18, certifying as a personal trainer at the age of 19. At 25 my construction company was keeping me so busy I decided to not only stop personal training but also stop exercising all together.
.

If you’ve seen my HOT husband lately, then you’ve seen how amazing and healthy he is looking!😍

Everyone keeps asking how he has been able to lose so much weight (and keep it off) and I’m going to tell you EXACTLY how he did it.
-
1. He listens to me as his nutrition coach. (Not just as his wife😂)
2. He consumes the right amount of protein with every single meal to reach his protein goals for the day (200g for him). (this one is the MOST important)
3. He eats mainly whole food sources that include complex carbohydrates, as well as veggies and nuts (fat sources...not protein!)
4. He drinks 1 gallon of water each day.
5. He takes the proper supplements needed to fill in the gaps in his diet (Microfactor for micronutrients, Optigreens for fruits and veggies, full-mega for omega 3’s and post workout protein and carb source).
6. He does 30 minutes of resistance training 3-4 days/week and walks 30-40 minutes, 3-4 days/week.

That is it you guys. That’s it!

He’s not doing any crazy workouts, no extreme dieting, detoxes or special magic drinks, and he’s not starving himself (he actually eats more food throughout the day now than he used to).

We all like to overcomplicate diets and workouts, try crazy new trends and do what all our friends are doing, but when you focus on the basics, keep it consistent and stick with it, it 100% works every single time!

This man of mine.

He gets up early to start the fire, make the coffee, workout, and then heads off into the darkness to work at a job he loves, but works hella hard at.

He comes home and hugs each one of us and listens to us yammer on about our day.  He reads and dances and laughs and wrestles.  He listens and advises and vents.  Then he wakes up and does it all again.

On weekends, he runs errands with me, helps me prep food, cleans the kitty litter, chops wood, bucks up logs, and shovels the driveway, not because I’m incapable, but because it’s his love language and we are a team.

He is, unquestionably, my biggest supporter in life and in my business.  He’s a big part of my “why” too!  My main goal, among so many, is to take the pressure of our devoted sole income earner. (*note: apparently he’s quite a bit smaller today than the last time he cut firewood 😉👌)

This man of mine.

Started compromising today’s workout last night. Was really excited. Motivated. Looking forward to it. Until this morning, that is.
-
But today was different than yesterday. It was easier to drag my butt to the tennis courts. I wasn’t as tired. It wasn’t unmotivated. I just didn’t want to push my body as hard as I usually do. And that’s ok. -
It’s a step in the right direction. It’s a step towards rebuilding a habit. A lifestyle. I was going to do this. Get this done.

And I did. And my shoulders are sore, which is weird. Especially since tomorrow is chest & back day.

I saw a  survey asking what people’s biggest nutritional challenge, Lack of Planning was second behind Emotional\stress eating.⁣
⁣
When someone mentions meal prep, we think Sunday Groceries followed by planning 7 days of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Then packing it all in containers. ⁣
⁣
Not everyone can be that diligent, especially if you’re raising little people. However, if you want to avoid making decisions when you’re already hungry which often ends up in eating out or eating less nourishing foods, some planning is required. ⁣
⁣
You have to find what works best for your schedule🕑 and family. It also has to be sustainable⁣
⁣
Here are things that worked really well for me with 3 kids 4 and under:⁣
⁣
👉I always pack my breakfast, lunch, snacks for work as part of my morning routine after the gym I pack all foods for the workday. Takes about 15-20 minutes.⁣
⁣
👉I make foods that are easy and don’t require much attention,  you can do other things while they cook such as roasting vegetables🍠 in the oven or frying eggs🥚. ⁣
⁣
👉I found my staple breakfast and lunches that I like eating and are easy to prepare. ⁣
⁣
👉I bring satisfying snacks that I really like but manage the portions. Sometimes work can be stressful, I find these portion controlled snacks can prevent a trip to the coffee shop, convenience store, or vending machine. I try to lean towards the healthier snacks, i.e nuts, fruits.⁣
⁣
This doesn’t require much effort for me in the morning because I’ve become pretty efficient at it from doing it so many times. I can even do it while getting two kids ready for school. I hardly buy food while I'm at work, unless it’s premeditated. ⁣

Truth be told, initially I only wanted to rebound for 3 weeks before slowly reversing my diet to go on a decomposition phase. But confinement nanny #讲我小 n load me with a huge serving of rice daily and resulted in a very steep weight gain of 3-5kg the last 3 weeks.

That being said, I am pretty happy with the strength gain thru this period and also the gains that come from it. Let’s hope that my rededication to heavier lifting can help me build a denser n a bigger physique.
