Transformation Tuesday!
.
It’s officially been 2 years since I looked into the mirror with disgust & decided to turn my life around by finally quitting smoking & getting my butt back in the gym.
.
I will never forget the feeling that took over me the first time I realized how much I had let myself go.
.
I had been a smoker since 15, but was also heavy into fitness since 18, certifying as a personal trainer at the age of 19. At 25 my construction company was keeping me so busy I decided to not only stop personal training but also stop exercising all together.
.
I slowly began operating equipment much more & doing physical labor much less. It wasn’t long until I began chain smoking nearly 2 packs a day & developing some very bad eating habits. In a matter of 3 years I turned my muscular 170 pound frame into a very soft, very unhealthy 225 pound frame.
.
2 years ago I finally quit smoking & made fitness a priority again.
.
Gaining control over my fitness & what I put into my body is by far one of my greatest accomplishments! I work hard at it, make some sacrifices but still enjoy life & still very much enjoy eating whatever I want several times a week.
.
It’s a no brainer that living a healthy lifestyle is the way to go, but don’t forget to still enjoy yourself & make your healthy lifestyle sustainable!
.
I hope this story helps motivate some of you to take better care of yourselves & become a better you! Cheers!

I will never forget the feeling that took over me the first time I realized how much I had let myself go.

I had been a smoker since 15, but was also heavy into fitness since 18, certifying as a personal trainer at the age of 19. At 25 my construction company was keeping me so busy I decided to not only stop personal training but also stop exercising all together.

In West North Wales born and raised. In the bar 🍺 is where I spent most of my days. Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool. Eating tons of junk food kinda like a fool. When a couple of guys who were up to no good, told me I was putting on a little tub. I got in one little fight and was soon out of breath, the wife said, “get in the gym or the next stage is death!”.

I whistled for a cab and when it came near, the driver said, “sorry but we have a weight limit in here!”. I’m not paying this sucker’s bill, so I stuck my kid in his buggy and jogged up a hill. I did this every day, at least 6 or 7, now look at me now I’m in fitness heaven. Look at my kingdom I’m finally there, and you could do it too, let me make you aware👇🏻

If you’ve seen my HOT husband lately, then you’ve seen how amazing and healthy he is looking!😍

Everyone keeps asking how he has been able to lose so much weight (and keep it off) and I’m going to tell you EXACTLY how he did it.
-
1. He listens to me as his nutrition coach. (Not just as his wife😂)
2. He consumes the right amount of protein with every single meal to reach his protein goals for the day (200g for him). (this one is the MOST important)
3. He eats mainly whole food sources that include complex carbohydrates, as well as veggies and nuts (fat sources...not protein!)
4. He drinks 1 gallon of water each day.
5. He takes the proper supplements needed to fill in the gaps in his diet (Microfactor for micronutrients, Optigreens for fruits and veggies, full-mega for omega 3’s and post workout protein and carb source).
6. He does 30 minutes of resistance training 3-4 days/week and walks 30-40 minutes, 3-4 days/week.

That is it you guys. That’s it!

He’s not doing any crazy workouts, no extreme dieting, detoxes or special magic drinks, and he’s not starving himself (he actually eats more food throughout the day now than he used to).

We all like to overcomplicate diets and workouts, try crazy new trends and do what all our friends are doing, but when you focus on the basics, keep it consistent and stick with it, it 100% works every single time!

This man of mine.

He gets up early to start the fire, make the coffee, workout, and then heads off into the darkness to work at a job he loves, but works hella hard at.

He comes home and hugs each one of us and listens to us yammer on about our day.  He reads and dances and laughs and wrestles.  He listens and advises and vents.  Then he wakes up and does it all again.

On weekends, he runs errands with me, helps me prep food, cleans the kitty litter, chops wood, bucks up logs, and shovels the driveway, not because I’m incapable, but because it’s his love language and we are a team.

He is, unquestionably, my biggest supporter in life and in my business.  He’s a big part of my “why” too!  My main goal, among so many, is to take the pressure of our devoted sole income earner. (*note: apparently he’s quite a bit smaller today than the last time he cut firewood 😉👌)

This man of mine.

When it comes to Fasting sometimes it is best to just say
“I ate already”
“I am not hungry”
“I am just good with water or coffee”

Because if you say you are Fasting. 
Everyone ‘KNOWS’ it is unhealthy...

In case you missed it, yesterday I wrote about how you listen to your body. -
Today, I’m going to tell you not to listen to your body.

The difference? Context. As a society, we try to put everything in absolutes. Do this. Don’t do that. As if every situation is the same. It makes decision making easy. However, it also eliminates the context of situations.
-
For example, as a cop, I may or may not have been confronted with a situation where a mother, who was still homeless after Hurricane Irma destroyed her home, was caught shoplifting food to feed her children. The value of the food she may have been shoplifting may or may not have been $15. Instead of arresting her, I may or may not have purchased her $35 of food.

Dealing in absolutes, was was she committing a crime? Absolutely. Keeping in mind the context of her situation, I cannot say that I wouldn’t have done the same thing she did.

This morning I was very tired when I woke up. However, unlike two days ago, I knew exactly why. I didn’t get to bed at a good time. So instead of taking the day off from my workout, I took one of my new drinks that activates the body’s natural energy and got after it. I had another great workout and feel invigorated. -
May I pay for this later today? Probably. Will it help me get my sleep schedule get back on track? I certainly hope so. But I know that, if I had skipped my workout and slept in, I would hate myself for it and my body would have no chance of getting back on track.

Don’t deal in absolutes. Understand why you feel the way you do and make decisions based on the context.

One thing this diet has forced me to do is step out of my comfort zone when it comes to food, especially when eating out. Living in Savannah I’ve heard a lot about collard greens but haven’t tried them until now. My opinion: awful I’ll stick to my spinach. 😂
