This was BY FAR the most common question. It tells me two things: 😳

1. I’ve already answered this a million times over but for some reason y’all didn’t go back and read it. You’re either too busy, lazy 😂, or... . 🤔
.
2. You were hoping I had come up with a magic pill 💊 in the last 48 questions to “fix” your high cortisol. 😲
.
Sadly, I have not but I SWEAR if I had a magic pill, I would let you know ASAP! 👏🏼
.
So, this means YOU have to do the work in figuring out why your cortisol is high. Is it stress? Are you sleeping? Do you have an overt or subclinical infection? Is it inflammation? Is it your blood sugar issues? Are you in pain? Do you have cushings? 🤨
.
Next, address it. Be real and honest with yourself, your choices, your relationships, your job...etc...and decide if *maybe* they are worsening your high cortisol. They may be just fine! They may not. 😣
.
Work with your practitioner about bandaids like phos serine, l-theanine, holy basil, magnolia, passionflower, skullcap, Maca, chamomile, lavender OR WHATEVER HELPS CALM YOUR LIFE! 🤩
.
But you have to address the cause. Because those herbs and nutrients aren’t a cure-all for anything. 🤪
.
Remember to ask your practitioner, not me, for doses or company brands. 🤷🏼‍♀️
.
Meditate, seek counseling, use essential oils, journal, exercise, laugh, snuggle your dog, get together with friends regularly, rest, say no, set boundaries and get proper testing! 🙌🏼

Our nervous system was not created to deal with the 24/7 stimulation and stress we now experience as human beings. ⁣

We are now bombarded by screens, blue light, traffic, money stress, raising kids without a tribe of support…man, I could go on and on.⁣

It’s essential to take time daily to unwind your nervous system daily from the chaos of everyday life.⁣

What do you do to help you turn on your parasympathetic nervous system?

Are you stuck in guilt and stress and think because you can’t physically see it that there is no damage? Stress and cortisol is the cause of 80% of illness and disease and we can do so much about reducing this stress. Many of my clients are suffering with C-PTSD or PTSD due to a toxic narcissistic relationship with a partner of parent and have a body riddled with cortisol leading to inflammation and disease. There are many techniques that I teach my clients to help them reduce stress and reduce the hyper vigilance happening in the emotional part of the brain. This helps reduce the fight or flight response and and keeps the brain operating in the pre frontal cortex and reducing stress as you can think more logically. So next time you beat yourself up for eating that chocolate cake, take a moment to think about even bigger damage that may be happening inside you. Men and women, have you noticed that when your cortisol is higher, your estrogen dominant symptoms seem worse?
.
There are a few reasons for this BUT study says, “...glucocorticoids may antagonize estrogen function by glucocorticoid receptor-mediated transcriptional up-regulation of estrogen sulfotransferase SULT1E1 resulting in inactivating sulfation of E2.”
.
What does that mean?
.
It means your high cortisol (or if you’re taking cortisol) can switch off the process that helps inactivate your most potent estrogen, E2.
.
This makes MORE E2 in circulation in your body.
.
The thing is, your cortisol is SUPPOSED to go up then down in your day. It’s supposed to rise when you get stressed, or to help fight a bacteria, or to increase your blood sugar when it gets too low.
.
But then it should drop down to normal range. It’s the premise of that book, Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers. The zebra is grazing. It gets chased by a lion, so it runs. It doesn’t get killed, but their buddy gets taken down by the lion. Then the zebra goes back to grazing unfazed.
.
My point is, if your cortisol is chronically increasing then your estradiol (E2) might be increasing too! 👎🏼
.
We are not handling our stress well. Its chronically elevated. We’re chronically stimulated, dehydrated, over-toxined, sleep deprived, full of sugar, underappreciated, infected by stealth and overt infections...and more. 😢
.
So, focus on making little changes. Go to bed sooner. Drink water. Cut back on alcohol. Love on your people. Call up your friends. Say no to things you really don’t want to do.
Lower your stress. Balance your estrogen. You can also talk with your Naturopathic or Functional practitioner to check your DUTCH Test levels! 🤗

STRESS & HORMONES, PT. 5: What can I do if I already have high cortisol or adrenal dysfunction?⁠

Many women I work with who either aren't ovulating or are experiencing sporadic periods due to high stress feel as if their bodies have betrayed them. I sense frustration and resentment when they tell me that they're doing everything perfectly to improve their symptoms—eating well, exercising, sleeping 8 hours a night, etc.—but their hormones just won't cooperate. 😩⁠

What many women might not get right away is that this effort to be "perfect" could be what's holding them back from fixing their period in the first place. In order to regulate ovulation and restore regular periods and fertility, we have to address both real and perceived stress so that our bodies can feel safe again.⁠

Sometimes, this means more than simply taking up yoga or meditation. For some, it could look like scaling back on work (if possible), mending a broken relationship, delegating household chores, stepping down from social obligations, breaking free of restrictive eating patterns, or simply doing the emotional work to free themselves of resentment and fear.⁠

Once women understand that their body is actually⁠ working for them—and not against them—they can move out of the place of disempowerment and blame and start on the road to healing.⁠ ✨⁠

a month ago ago today i finally had my endocrinology follow up appointment, it was another new doctor, my mum aaid she pulled out my notes & it was the thickness of two chapter books 😂😅 I found out that between my first synacthen test in july 2018 & the one in april my cortisol has further decreased meaning i'm going to taking cortisol daily. apparently i have addison's disease? i was just told that it was a partial adrenal deficiency but honestly, i'm not bothered, increasing cortisol doesn't make me feel any better so it's at the bottom of my priorities. i was prescribed cortisol tablets to take twice daily but it was making my stomach pain worse & kept getting to the point where i couldn't eat at all so i've now been prescribed dispersible tablets to be taken via my nj tube that are going well. i also found out my pituitary gland & arteries supplying blood to my stomach & intestines are both fine

So...during the Black Friday sales I got a new @lole coat. 🧥 It claims that it can keep you warm in below zero temps, AND it is made from eco-friendly materials. I was sold.

Why does this matter so much? One of my goals for 2020 is to get outside daily, even in the dead of winter, because I know how important it is for our health, hormones, and wellbeing.

Natural light exposure regulates our cortisol and serotonin levels, among other hormones, that allow for you to wake when it’s time to get up ☀️ and feel sleepy when it’s time to go to bed. 🌙

Natural light exposure also allows you to make your own vitamin D. Even if it’s only hitting the skin on your face, it’s still something. (Make sure you’re supplementing with a D3/K2 supplement if you don’t get much sun exposure in the winter!)

Anyways, not only is this coat going to help me to get some fresh air year round, but it also symbolizes something big for me:

I spent all of last winter complaining. “Why do I live in Nebraska? I wish I lived somewhere warm so that I could be outside year round.”

Sadly, I have not but I SWEAR if I had a magic pill, I would let you know ASAP! 👏🏼

So, this means YOU have to do the work in figuring out why your cortisol is high. Is it stress? Are you sleeping? Do you have an overt or subclinical infection? Is it inflammation? Is it your blood sugar issues? Are you in pain? Do you have cushings? 🤨
.
Next, address it. Be real and honest with yourself, your choices, your relationships, your job...etc...and decide if *maybe* they are worsening your high cortisol. They may be just fine! They may not. 😣
.
Work with your practitioner about bandaids like phos serine, l-theanine, holy basil, magnolia, passionflower, skullcap, Maca, chamomile, lavender OR WHATEVER HELPS CALM YOUR LIFE! 🤩
.
But you have to address the cause. Because those herbs and nutrients aren’t a cure-all for anything. 🤪
.
Remember to ask your practitioner, not me, for doses or company brands. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Meditate, seek counseling, use essential oils, journal, exercise, laugh, snuggle your dog, get together with friends regularly, rest, say no, set boundaries and get proper testing! 🙌🏼

Shoulders, HIIT, and abs, OH MY! ⁣

This is a 30 minute workout! I used to overdo cardio so much and didn’t understand why I was constantly bloated (especially my face). Now I know that it’s because my body was in a chronic stress mode. My cortisol levels were at a high chronically, along with third spacing due to not enough protein consumption, I was the perfect picture of low weight but bloaty! ⁣

I love that these workouts stress my body enough but not over such a long period of time to where my body produces too much cortisol. ⁣
⁣
Tip of the day is: if you are bloated, look at how much cardio you’re doing, look at how long you’re in the gym. Is it over an hour? Are you constantly stressing your body? I was constantly stressing my body with over working out and over eating. Lessening up on both and adding in weights has done my body and mind wonders. ⁣

Shoulders, HIIT, and abs, OH MY! ⁣

This is a 30 minute workout! I used to overdo cardio so much and didn’t understand why I was constantly bloated (especially my face). Now I know that it’s because my body was in a chronic stress mode. My cortisol levels were at a high chronically, along with third spacing due to not enough protein consumption, I was the perfect picture of low weight but bloaty! ⁣

I love that these workouts stress my body enough but not over such a long period of time to where my body produces too much cortisol. ⁣

Tip of the day is: if you are bloated, look at how much cardio you’re doing, look at how long you’re in the gym. Is it over an hour? Are you constantly stressing your body? I was constantly stressing my body with over working out and over eating. Lessening up on both and adding in weights has done my body and mind wonders. ⁣

No caso dos homens, ele também é produzido pelos testículos. Esse hormônio tem a capacidade de influenciar células e tecidos do corpo inteiro.
O DHEA auxilia na ação anabolizante e influencia a construção muscular.
