Well @ari_chicken I'd have to say this Nashville hot chicken sando was 💣 First off, totally diggin' how the chicken had different thickness areas, some thinner and crisper and some thicker and juicier 💦. And, the refreshing cool slaw really complimented the spice! Ahhhh, this one really hits the spot if you're lookin' for a chicken sando! Thank you for hosting and @tim_vs_food for the invite 🙇‍♀️

First week back to school and my pharmacy friends made sure I didn’t spend my 28th birthday face down in the books studying and took me out!!! Enjoying oreganos as a nice Carb break🍕🍷🍪 We dedicate countless hours to studying and sacrifice a lot of things in our lives in order to get our doctorate , and I am so honored to call these people my pharmily  for the next 2.5 years💕 #oreganos #gaucatony #birthday #pharmacy #pharmily #besties #carbs

In most cases of diet-related weight gain, EATING THE WRONG CARBS IN EXCESS is usually the culprit (not consuming too much fat like people think)! Does that mean we should completely get rid of carbs forever? 🙅🏼‍♀️NO – we just need to incorporate them into our diet wisely! There are too many benefits of carbohydrates to rid them from our diet completely

Carbohydrates negatively affect us when:
🍪We eat carbs that spike glucose (processed carbs with little fiber)
.
⏰Our glucose spikes too often
.
⏳We don’t allow glucose to lower between meals (prolonged hyperglycemia)
.
➡️ All of these factors lead to unregulated blood sugar which is what we don’t want! 🙅🏼‍♀️
.
Bottom line: Carbs aren’t bad, but there are bad carbs!! .
.
My next few posts will address how carbohydrates affect blood sugar and why it’s vital that we regulate it!

💭 As peanut butter lovers, we were disappointed. A large coating of peanut butter that got a little sickening after a few handfuls. We like to see products like these highly addictive. We thought maybe the strawberry would break up some of the peanut butter taste... but it was almost non existent 🤦🏻‍♂️. As for the pretzels in the bag, they were covered with the peanut butter coat equally as much. It didn’t help breaking up the flavor at all. Would only recommend these if you use these as a topping on a sundae or in yogurt. #saucedjunkfood #saucedreview .

I’ve decided I’m an 80/20 person. This means 80% of the food I eat will be healthy and 20% I’ll eat specifically because it tastes good. My coach is a 95/5 person. That’s what works for her. That wouldn’t work for me. Mostly because of my past relationship with food. ⁣⁣

For years I told myself I couldn’t have certain things. I couldn’t have bread or pasta or chips or cake etc...etc. On an almost daily basis, I felt like I was missing out because while other people were just enjoying food, it was controlling me. Food was never just food. It was calories or carbs or sugar and I felt like I couldn’t eat those things. So I didn’t. Which sounds like the healthy choice, and it was physically, but it made me miserable. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I want to eat healthy, but I don’t want to restrict myself. I don’t want to give up garlic bread twice a week. I don’t want to give up eating ice cream out of the carton with my husband. I don’t want to make cookies and feel like I can’t taste them. I don’t want to go to restaurants and feel like I have to order a salad. I also don’t want to do one or two of these things (like eat the ice cream) and then feel like I have to eat perfect for the rest of the week. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I have restricted in the past and it’s just not good for me. And honestly eating healthy 80% of the time feels doable. I don’t feel like I’m missing out. I don’t feel trapped because I can’t eat sugar or glutton. It’s naturally how I eat. I love fruits and vegetables. Chicken is my favorite protein. I’m not a huge fan of most fried food. My go to comfort food is the darkest chocolate you can find. I eat pretty well, but it’s not a 95/5. I would say it’s pretty close to a 80/20. ⁣⁣

I could feel guilty that I’m not eating as healthy as I could or I could just let myself keep enjoying food. Really, those are my two options and I want to keep enjoying. I want to be able to look at a plate like this and not feel guilty about the fries. So I’ve set realistic parameters for me. I’ve set an achievable goal for myself instead of a goal that feels impossible. I’ve set myself up to succeed instead of fail, all the while, still taking care of my body.
