Laying out at the beach and not doing a damn thing is hella nice, but I'm also excited to get home and jump right back into my meal plan. Going on vacation is great, being bloated and sluggish as hell from eating crap 3 days in a row, not so much. This weekend I took "carb re-feed" to a whole other level. 😅 It's okay though. Being too strict for too long can take a toll on your sanity. Specially for women, it's important to take a break between calorie restricted diets in order to reset your leptin levels and rev up your metabolism. Women's hormones can be somewhat tricky, so it's important to listen to your body and do what feels good to YOU. Don't starve yourself, if your body senses in any way that you are starving, you will halt your fat loss altogether. I'm planning a mini 8 week bulk when I get back home because you can't grow muscles eating at a deficit. (With the exception of newbie lifters) I'm still keeping my meal plan relatively low-carb, I felt reallllyyy good while following a Ketogenic diet. My energy levels were high and I was performing notably better in the gym. I might carb-cycle on my lifting days and keep it low carb on my cardio and rest days but we'll see 🙄

1️⃣ -  You can't lose fat and gain muscle at the same time so you have to asses your body and make the decision.  Personally you shouldn't worry about bulking untill your lean enough but thats 100% preference.

2️⃣ - LEAN BULK : alot of ppl think when it's bulk season you eat anything you can jam in your face.  If you take this approach you set yourself up for disaster!  The goal is to fuel the muscle enough to promote growth with adding minimal fat within the time period.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IS: Calculate your maintenance calories and ADD 2 to 300 calories bringing you in a  slight caloric surplus.

3️⃣ - TIME IN BULKING : SO how long do you bulk ?!? You have to bulk for long enough to sustain your cut cycle.  So by deciding how long you want to cut for (How long it will take for you to reach your desired level of lean) will dictate how long to bulk by using this formula:
.
Length of cut cycle X 1.8 = time in bulk cycle ( this gives time to build enough muscle to sustain your cut cycle) .

Along with these 3 tips... Keep your Protein at 1 g / lbs of body weight

AND LIFT HEAVY!!! ... You should always lift heavy but when your bulking you better make good use the extra calories !!

So about 3 months into my bulk I’m up 19lbs and sitting at 209lbs. Goal is still 215, but we’ll see if that’s possible lol. I put up 355lbs on the bench yesterday for the first time in years. The bulk training cycle I got from @lumberjackeddd has completely changed up my gym routine and made me step outside my same boring routine I’ve had on repeat for a decade. That combined with roughly 3,500 cals a day has worked well. When I first started lifting I was right around 170lbs and you could count every rib. Been a long journey.

Starting into my bulk cycle with chest, triceps, and biceps today and what better way to repair my muscles post workout with non other than a #phormula1 protein shake! Probably one of the best tasting flavors I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting, Loop D Fruit. Bringing back my childhood, it tastes like a delicious bowl of fruit loops 😋
- 20g of 100% hydrolyzed whey protein, which is pretty much a fancy way of saying it breaks down rapidly in the digestion phase to be quickly absorbed into the muscles.
- Since I’m doing a bulk cycle, I’m using 2 scoops post workout to reap the most benefits out of my protein shake.
