- ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ First off lets start off with a lot of these exercises are going to overlap since there's a few exercise that basically hit the whole entire back, one being the deadlift which is KING since it almost hits the entire body.

So what I have here is the major muscle groups of your back and if you want a well developed back, you're going to have to hit all the angles (i.e. vertical, horizontal, etc.)

Let's go over some of the breakdown:

Latissimus Dorsi:
-Everyone knows these as the wings of our backs and probably the most famous of the back muscles.  These muscle will create the illusion of a V-taper and making the appearance of your waist smaller than it actuall is.  The muscle is located from under your armpit area and the back of the ribs.

-Lat Pulldown
-Pull-Ups
-Barbell Rows
-Dumbbell Single Arm Rows
-Deadlifts

Trapezius:
-The Traps, the most powerful and largest of the back muscle groups.  The trapezius is located from the collarbobe frontal view and reach all the way down to the lower back region.  Most pay attention to the upper portion of the traps but a well developer trapezius will be worked from the top, middle and lower fibers.

-Face Pulls
-Barbell Rows

Rhomboids:
-These guys are tiny and are located underneath the trapezius, they originally come from the vertebrae and attach to the scapulae.  Whenever you squeeze your shoulder blades together and retract these are the muscle you are using in order to perform this task.

circuit one (3 sets of 15): incline bench chest flyes, single leg bicep curls, seated alternating shoulder presses, bent over reverse flyes
circuit two (3 sets of 15): bent over kettlebell alternating rows, lying tricep skull crushers, decline push-ups, kettlebell windmills
circuit three (3 rounds 30-45 seconds of work, 15 rest): weighted straight leg jackknife, mountain climbers, moving plank, renegade rows 🔥

Warm ups felt heavy, lower back was really tight for some reason, and it almost threw off my entire training session. Was not expecting much from this session since my body just wasn’t feeling it. Worked up to my last warm up set and the weight just flew up! So that’s when I decided to give 375lbs. a go for my first working set weight and just like that I hit a new lifetime PR of 6 reps(cut out the first rep since it didn’t fit and wanted to show the actual grinder reps).

The crazy part was that the weight didn’t even feel heavy as it usually did in the past. Last month I could barely hit this weight for 4 reps, and it felt super heavy then, so I’ve made some good progress this past month✌🏼 But I was actually more impressed from my back off sets of being able to do 3 sets x 9 @ 345, when it was hard to do that volume @ 315 😯 not too long ago.

This really set the tone for the rest of the session and I hit some pretty big PRs on some other exercises💪🏼 Moral of the story is don’t think a training session is down the drain just bc you aren’t feeling it that day. The worst that can happen is that you have a mediocre session, but the best thing is that you could also hit some new PRs. So just get out there and do it!

Warm ups felt heavy, lower back was really tight for some reason, and it almost threw off my entire training session. Was not expecting much from this session since my body just wasn’t feeling it. Worked up to my last warm up set and the weight just flew up! So that’s when I decided to give 375lbs. a go for my first working set weight and just like that I hit a new lifetime PR of 6 reps(cut out the first rep since it didn’t fit and wanted to show the actual grinder reps).

Proof that you can still get a good pump not lifting heavy weight. I’ve always had the mindset that time under tension and the quality of my lifts are more important than how much weight I can lift. Don’t get me wrong there’s a place for lifting heavy and I understand everyone’s goals are different but I’m geared more for the long term-I want to be able to walk in the gym and pick up a barbell at the age of 80. I use the weight room as a tool to keep me versatile-I want it to help me do the other things I love 😊
