• write down all the things you’ve been putting off to invest in your mind, body, and spirit
• visualize the whole picture of your success
• think small.
break everything into small pieces and steps (for example, work out everyday for 20 mins than 2 hours once a week🤷‍♀️)
• set the deadline to see your progress
There is no project until you set a deadline. The way you take control of your life is to make sure you've got a deadline for every goal you choose. • start today not “on Monday”

Jon’s 5 Non-Negotiable Daily Lifestyle Habits

I live by these 5 habits. I know these may seem a bit trite or played out, but I actually live by these! And we all know consistency one of the most important factors for staying in shape. By making these lifestyle habits second nature for the last 10-12 years I’ve been able to improve my health and fitness while watching others go in the other direction all around me. There is obviously a lot more to it than this, but these are bang-for-the-buck habits I’ve used to create a solid foundation for my health and fitness:
.
1️⃣ Drink at least a gallon of water per day (I typically get around 5-6 litres).
.
2️⃣Eat protein at every meal and snack.
.
3️⃣Eat high fibre foods as much as humanly possible (particularly vegetables).
.
4️⃣Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night and take your sleep hygiene seriously !
.
5️⃣Exercise 3 days per week at minimum, with any exercise above and beyond that as a bonus.

How excited are you to get up in the morning to go to work? Sometimes we classify ourselves as "not a morning person", but what if that's not really who you are and instead it's your situation or your job defining you. Sometimes we forget that most of our "happy" moments are moments that comes from that feeling of great enthusiasm and eagerness, excitement! Do not put yourself right away in a box and do not limit yourself with those labels like "I'm not a morning person". On the opposite, go deeper and asses if what you're doing right now is what excites you the most to get up early and enjoy life.⠀

It's never our circumstances, problems or situation... ALL that matters is how we CHOOSE to react. I've been trying to turn my REACTIONS into thoughtful RESPONSES instead. I'll have to be honest... it's kind of changed my life! I didn't realize how much my instincts and sub couscious way of thinking truly impact my everyday decisions! Truly getting a grip on my thoughts, self talk and mental attitude have helped shift my life over this past year! @msrachelhollis has been such a HUGE inspiration to me on how to actually accomplish this and helped so much in seeing how much being more positive can TRULY change your life! ❤ I encourage you all to stop and think for 5 seconds the next time you go to react. Ask yourself " Am I reacting or am I responding? Is this truly how I feel or is it just coming from habit?" Our thoughts create our habits and our habits create our life.

What a treat this week's podcast is. We talked to Sky Bergman, director and filmmaker, about her documentary "Lives Well Lived". She was inspired by her grandmother who lived to be 103.5 and was still working out at the gym at the age of 99. Sky is a photographer and professor who decided she should start videoing her grandmother because no one would ever believe she was doing all the things she was doing at 99 and beyond. 
From there, the idea behind the film was born. Sky ended up interviewing 40 elders over four years and the film is a collection of their stories and shared wisdom. 
Inspiring as well as educational, we hear more from her on the lessons she learned and how these relationships are now part of her life today!

I have been so inspired by the beauty of nature these last few weeks. And it's been so cold out. No snow, but the message is still the same. In the coldest moments of your life, you might find something that is truly beautiful. If you are unwilling to step outside and be uncomfortable in the cold, you'll never be able to see that beauty. 
And taken at face value, just remember that some of the most stunning parts of nature are outside in the cold. Put on your hat and gloves and get out there. ❄

I have been so inspired by the beauty of nature these last few weeks. And it's been so cold out. No snow, but the message is still the same. In the coldest moments of your life, you might find something that is truly beautiful. If you are unwilling to step outside and be uncomfortable in the cold, you'll never be able to see that beauty.

People spend all this time trying to find the shortcut to fat loss. The diet that will help “kick start” their fat loss.

That doesn’t exist, so what is the other option?

Take those 4 6 8 weeks you were going to do keto. Or a juice cleanse. Or going vegan.

To actually put time and effort into finding a sustainable way to eat.

To spend time and effort into learning habits and ways of eating that you can sustain 5 10 15 years from now.

If you know you can’t do keto forever because you love carbs, well then those 8 weeks you stick to it, is actually you wasting 8 weeks you could be spending finding something you can sustain.

You aren’t “kickstarting” shit.

You are actually setting yourself back 8 weeks, because you could have been 8 weeks into finding sustainable ways to eat.

Instead your ass wants to do a juice cleanse.

So now you’re actually set back farther away from what you are looking for.

While the person who has been working on changing habits for 8 weeks, yea they may have lost 8 lbs instead of your 20, but they will keep it off forever.

What clothing makes you most productive?

I cant be creative if Im distracted by how I feel in my outfit. So my fitted jeans, belts, low cut floppy shirts...etc are a no-go for art days.

If Im gonna be home all day painting...leggings and fitted T's are my go-to. Then I can be crouched on the floor gesso-ing or sitting for hours in a still posture without thinking about ME since Im comfortable.
.

Boots are another go-to, much like makeup 😆🖤, because they make me feel ready. And if Im ready for anything... I am more aggressive in productivity... and readiness makes me feel like I can attack a creative block/challenge more effectively.

Essential oils are a key part of my wellness routine. For thousands of years herbs have been used to aid in holistic health. You can use oils aromatically, topically, and internally. My favorite oils are pictured above. I diffuse lavender every night to begin my sleet routine and signal to my nervous system that it’s time to start winding down. I also apply lavender to cuts, bruises, and to the bottoms of my feet to reduce anxiety. Melaleuca (tea tree) is extremely anti fungal and is a super versatile oil. These properties aid in the healing of cuts, scrapes, and infections. You can mix a drop with water for a natural mouthwash, or use mixed with water in a spray bottle as a natural cleaner. If you feel a cold coming on mix Melaleuca with Epsom salts in a hot bath helps boost your body’s ability to fight it off and may shorten the duration of symptoms. Speaking of colds- On Guard is my go to for wintertime sickness prevention. Diffuse to cleanse the air, use as a household surface cleaner, or mix with a carrier oil for a natural hand cleaner. Finally, Wild Orange is my favorite to diffuse at work. It helps purify the air as well as create an uplifting, motivating aroma. This oil can also be used as a cleaner as citrus has many cleansing properties. But just a warning- this oil should never go on your skin (I made that mistake the hard way). In fact many oils can be used on the skin or hair but should be mixed with an oil to make it last longer, be more easily assimilated, and be more delicate to sensitive skin. There are so many oils and a diverse way to include them in your routine. For a lot of us, spending the holidays w fam & friends requires some traveling.⁣
⁣
One of the biggest challenges for staying on track w workouts & eating habits is travel.🚗⁣
⁣
Eating fast food while on the road and whatever  food is available where you’re staying stresses you out when you think about your goals being ruined.⁣
⁣
You should be feeling relaxed & happy to be w loved ones, not stressed & overwhelmed bc you might skip a couple workouts or devour a few slices of pie.🥧
⁣
I know you hear it a lot, having an “unhealthy” meal won’t make you put on weight, just like having a “healthy” meal won’t make you ripped.⁣
⁣
While that is true, it might not help you feel any less stressed.⁣
⁣
Or maybe hearing that makes you feel like you can take the week to eat whatever & however much you want (that’s not true). 😏⁣
⁣
✅So here are a few things you can do to stay on track during the holidays while feeling relaxed & stress free around your health & fitness goals:⁣
⁣
🍌Pack yo snacks—even though it’s okay to indulge a little during your holiday, plan to bring some nutritious snacks w you to have in between the goodies.⁣
⁣
🏈Move a little—even if you’re surrounded by snow, there are things you can do to be active like taking walks, doing yoga, snow football, or like our family favorite, Killer Croquet.⁣
⁣
💧Hydrate—a great way to curb hunger cravings out of boredom or just being around tons of great food is drinking water. Hydrate, satiate, feel great.⁣
⁣
🚫STOP eating when full—this one might take some practice, but def shouldn’t be ignored. Eating more when you’re stuffed just leaves you bloated & feeling like shit. Be mindful of when you’re getting full and step away from the food.⁣
⁣
Have fun, relax, and enjoy yourself over the holidays.⁣
⁣
It’s not a time to stress yourself out over messing up progress bc of a couple skipped workouts or eating a few “unhealthy” things.⁣

Be present, be mindful, have fun, and spread some love.💙⁣

I knew I needed a changed and I told myself I would go all in with #80dayobsession as I knew I had nothing to lose. If it didn't work for me at least I tried.

Short-term results are possible for sure but have you noticed how many dieters are forever dieting..?

And those who are successful for a while only seem to attain the dreaded "skinny-fat" state..?

For those who may be tempted, remember: A pound or two of fat loss each week is reasonable- if you're losing much more then it ain't fat you're losing at all.. you will be losing stuff you need..!

And building lean-muscle-mass takes longer- these things shouldn't be rushed. Form a habit you can live with comfortably for life.
