Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I chose a green coaster for today....
This was COBRA at LA RONDE in Montreal, Québec, Canada, a rare Intamin stand-up coaster.

Opened at La Ronde in 1995
Closed in 2016

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Intamin worked closely with a company known as Giovanola. Two of Giovanola’s employees were Walter Bolliger and Claude Mabillard, who later formed the much more successful company B&M. This is why the concept and track of this Intamin is very similar to B&M. Intamin opened three of these stand-up coasters, the other two being the Six Flags ride-rotation roller coaster Shockwave/Batman the Escape and Shockwave at Drayton Manor. Shockwave at Drayton Manor is the only one operating, and it is also the only one to have a different layout; the layouts of the other two were very similar.
Cobra started its life at Skara Sommerland in Sweden in 1989, a park I brought up no that long ago talking about their S&S coaster Tranan. It operated there as Stand Up. It closed there in 1994 and was moved to La Ronde in 1995.
This is a coincidence because Six Flags did not yet own the park, otherwise they probably would’ve received Batman the Escape. In 2002, it was repainted to the green you see now.
Cobra mysteriously closed in 2016. It was removed from the park website and unoperational in 2017. It was removed in 2018, and La Ronde closed Super Manege in 2019, to be replaced by Vipére in 2020. A few eventful years for La Ronde!
